"Solid facility with fewer activities but still a good option."

We visited this place, and it looked nice overall. The activities weren't as much as some others we saw, but we still thought it could be good for our family member.

"Friendly Staff and Nice Apartments, But Food Needs Improvement"

The people here are really nice. The staff is great overall. They try hard to do a good job and make sure everyone is happy. I think some people here should be in assisted living. But everyone has been super nice to me. I like my apartment. It wasn’t as ready as I thought it would be, but they’ve been good about fixing things. I just wish the food had more variety and was better quality.

"Liked cottages and backyards but found deposit and appliances outdated"

West Fork Village was my top pick for a while. I liked that they had cottages with backyards, which would have been great for my dog. However, the deposit fee was quite high, and the appliances were pretty old-fashioned. That’s why I decided not to move in.

"Great place with all-inclusive fees and daily activities"

It's exactly what I hoped for. I pay one fee that covers my rent and three meals a day. They have activities every day and offer rides to the store and doctor appointments. I'm really happy with it and can't think of a better place for me right now. Overall, I'm very pleased.

"Great place with helpful staff and good food!"

I really love living here! The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is good, but I don’t like the tuna casserole. A woman comes to clean my apartment every other week, and she does a great job. I don’t have any complaints!

"Cozy Assisted Living with Pleasant Amenities"

I'd tell folks checking out West Fork Village they've got screened porches, a really cool perk for residents. The apartments are spacious too. I'd suggest it to others in the area.

"Nice facility with good value; could improve communication and variety"

The facility is really nice and the cost is fair. We do wish they would keep us updated more about our loved one. The meals can be a bit repetitive, but residents can order something different if they want. Because of COVID, many activities were limited, but they still offered things like bingo and other games.

"Inconsistent Staff, Poor Communication, Not Encouraging, Proceed with Caution"

My family didn't have a good time at this place. The workers didn't cheer her up, so she stayed in bed a lot. The place was handy, but the workers kept changing. Every time I got to know the people in charge, they sold it to someone else, and everything changed. We also had lots of problems talking to them. I suggest you keep control of your loved one's money here. Don't just give it to them.

"Awful Dining Experience"

The food used to be amazing when my loved one moved in, but now it's terrible. For dinner, they serve hot dogs and broccoli, which hardly qualifies as a meal. There's no flavor, and all the residents are gaining weight from the carb-heavy meals. The community claims to follow CDC guidelines, but we don't know where the staff goes or why they're exempt. Recently, they raised the rent. If I could, I'd take my loved one out of this place. When I raised concerns about the food, the administration denied any complaints a blatant lie.

"Disappointing Assisted Living Experience Amid COVID-19 Restrictions"

My mom liked the food, activities, and transportation at first. But when COVID-19 hit, they locked down, which was good. However, they're super slow to reopen things. There are still no choices for meals, and the shuttle buses aren't running as promised. What's really sad is they won't let my family help care for my mom, even though we've been doing it for years. We can't afford assisted living, so my niece and I help her every day. They won't let anyone without a license see her, which is really sad.

"Great place with friendly staff and happy living conditions"

I found a great new place for my mom. She likes the living conditions, food, and activities. She seems happier and more lively. The staff is friendly and helpful, always showing my mom respect.

"Brookdale Irving Made the Move Worth It – Highly Recommended"

I recently moved my elderly relatives to Brookdale Irving, even though they really didn’t want to leave their home of 53 years. After seeing Brookdale Irving, they were amazed that they could afford such a nice place with so many amenities. Now, after four weeks, they look better (good food really helps!) and seem much happier than they did while trying to stay in their old house. I’ve been very impressed with the staff – they’re caring, attentive, warm, and welcoming. Brookdale Irving has turned a tough decision into a happy and excellent experience!

"Great Community, Nice Staff, But Far and Pricey"

We visited Brookdale Irving, and it was nice. The guy who showed us around was super friendly. The place itself was also really nice. My only problems were that it's far away and expensive.

"Great care, activities, and value in a friendly facility"

My family has been really happy with this place and the care they've given my mom. The staff is super friendly, helpful, and always around when you need them. They provide a lot for a very fair price, making it a great deal. There are many activities for the residents, with several things happening at once. There's always something to do, like entertainment programs, visits from school kids who sing, exercise classes, and trips to concerts like the orchestra. They also have special holiday events and arts and crafts. My mom always says the food is good, and from what I've tried, it tastes fine. There are lots of choices, so it’s not the same thing every day. We’re very pleased with this nice facility.

"Brookdale Assisted Living: A Great Place for Mom"

My mom's time at Brookdale has been really good. The people who work there pay a lot of attention to the residents, which is important to me. Before we decided to move my mom in, the salespeople and the boss made sure they answered all our questions. There was a bit of a problem with noise between my mom and her neighbor, but the staff fixed it super fast. Mom likes the food there a lot. I looked at the menus, and they seem to have a good mix of foods. She's also having fun with the stuff they do there, like games and activities. Overall, it's been nice at Brookdale, and I'd tell others it's a good place to be.

"Dad Is Settling In"

We had to pick this place for my dad because of his budget. Unfortunately, there are some things he doesn't like, but hopefully, they'll get better. Some residents make comments that he's not comfortable with. The food is okay, and they serve it three times a day. The employees here are awesome and really helpful. I want to mention that [Removed] went above and beyond to get my dad settled. They even set up home health services for him. There are lots of activities like Bible study, cards, and bingo that he enjoys. They provide transportation to doctors and stores, and they also organize monthly outings to restaurants for breakfast or dinner. I would recommend this community.

"He’s Thriving Here and Loves It!"

I’m so happy we found this place for my loved one. The cost is just right for him. It's like a new lease on life he’s eating well and making friends. The staff is fantastic; they help everyone get up and dressed and genuinely care. The food is delicious and reminds me of Luby's. There are many activities for him to join. The grounds are beautiful, with a nice gazebo. They also offer excellent transportation to doctor's appointments and shopping. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family.

"Friendly Staff but Limited Activities and Poor Food Quality"

The folks here are super nice and lend a helping hand when needed. I've noticed that they don't have a lot of fun stuff to do. The meals aren't too great, sadly. They don't bring many food choices to the table, plus the food they do have is usually overcooked and lacks in portion size. We don't have a way to fix our own meals in our living spaces, so we've been snacking on a bunch of junk food instead to fill our tummies.

"Likes Facility, Frustrated by Unstable Rates"

Even though I'm fond of the place, I can't commit to living here because the costs keep fluctuating unexpectedly.

"Touring Dark Assisted Living Community Not Ideal for Mom"

I visited this place for my mom. I didn't like that they keep the inside really dark. My mom enjoys spaces with open windows. The people working there were kind, but it wasn't the right choice for my mom.

"We’re Thrilled with Our New Cottage Home"

We’re having a great time in our cottage. The place is always clean and looks amazing. Our apartment has a full kitchen, a stackable washer and dryer, and weekly housekeeping, which I really appreciate. Even though we’re not on the meal plan, we can still join in for lunch or dinner if we want. I cook our meals in our kitchen. The staff is fantastic—they’re super friendly and always willing to help. They even gave us some discounts so we could afford to move here and made us feel really welcome. When our ice maker broke, they quickly replaced our fridge with a working one. On Saturdays and Sundays, they show movies at 6:30, and there are lots of activities during the week. We love playing Bingo twice a week, and they also have a monthly "Welcome to Brookdale" meeting.

"Safe Place with Great Activities!"

My loved one enjoys the activities like bingo, store trips, and afternoon tea with other residents. She brings her own shakers because she thinks the food needs more seasoning. We both feel this is a safe place with wonderful people.

"Housekeeping Needs Improvement!"

I hope the community pays attention to the housekeeping. The hallways and carpets need better cleaning. The meals are good, and there are many nice people living here. I feel safe and positive.

"Amazing food and friendly staff make this a great place"

We’ve had a lot of experience with independent care, and this place stands out. The food is amazing, and the staff are super friendly! Overall, I think this is a fantastic place to move into.

"Nice Community"

I visited this community, and I thought it was a nice place. However, it felt too far for us, and it wasn’t convenient to visit my brother often. Overall, I appreciate A Place For Mom, it was a really good experience, and my church recommended it.

"A Wonderful Place For Her To Be"

My mom’s thriving here. The place is nice, but could smell better. Staff’s awesome. Wish they’d motivate her to join activities. Recommend it, but explore more options.

"Impressive Knowledge About Brain and Dementia"

I thought about this place for my family member. I liked how they knew a lot about the brain and dementia. It felt like they really understood. But I picked another community because of the cost. The people I talked to here were impressive.

"Terrible weekday care and lack of assistance for mom"

My Mom only lasted a week and a day at this place before we had to move her. The workers here didn't look after her the way she needed. They acted like she was just like the people who could take care of themselves. They didn't help her eat or use the restroom. On weekends, the staff was great, but during the weekdays, they totally dropped the ball. She got one bath on her second day and didn't get another one until a week later. This place is not suited for someone who can't care for themselves.

"Clean, caring, improving; very safe and secure community."

I think Brookdale Irving does well. Clean, caring, improving communication.

"Heed My Warning - Avoid This Assisted Living Facility"

Alright folks, here's the ugly truth. This joint doesn't deserve a single star, not even half! My dad was only there for a fortnight. They just keep adding extra charges for everything. They knock off $5 for meals delivered to rooms - that means your family's coffee and banana snack will cost you $5. Also, reminding your dear ones to take their medicines will cost you a whopping $11 each time. So if someone needs 8 different medicines a day, you're looking at handing them $88. There was an incident involving a family member, but they didn't even bother to let me know. No incident reports or anything. There's construction happening on the site which is really dangerous! After my loved one needed medical attention, the doctor suggested finding an assisted living solution. But when we tried to move into this facility, everything went haywire. We were there from noon till past 6 pm and they couldn't even organize a successful transition, all because of administrative issues, poor service, violating confidentiality, and literally zero genuine care. The health and wellness director was incompetent, disrespectful, and generally clueless. It was their mistake, not ours! They seemed totally indifferent and were bouncing all over the place. We didn't even get an apology for the long, incomplete process. When I finally found the manager to ask what was going on, her response was cold and curt. No one even checked on my family after we finally returned. I got my family out of there the very next day. I would never recommend this place!

"Disastrous Experience at Greedy, Uncaring Assisted Living Facility"

Listen, folks, here's the straight truth. This place doesn't merit a single star, it deserves a whopping ZERO STARS!!! My dad stayed here for just two weeks. The person running this place is just out for profit and just wants to pack in as many residents as possible. The cost they advertise is a total sham! They nickel and dime you for absolutely everything. Every time your family member gets food in their room, it'll cost you: $5 per item, like a coffee and banana. Then if your loved one needs to take medication, they'll charge you $11 each time it's given, so if your family member needs to take 8 doses a day, that's $88 daily. When my family member had an accident, they didn't even bother telling me about it. The department head told me they don't fill out accident reports or anything. At the very least, they should notify the family if anything happens, especially with all the dangerous construction going on at the facility!!! My family member ended up in the hospital due to the accident they had at this place, and after they got treatment the doctor recommended assisted living. But when we tried to arrange that with this place, everything went south. We went there at noon and didn't leave until after 6 pm, and they didn't even manage to move my loved one to assisted living because they had administration problems, paperwork problems, poor customer service, issues maintaining privacy, and they were downright disrespectful and uncaring!!! The director of health and wellness, was totally unprofessional. She disregarded my loved one's privacy by sharing their medical history. She moved at a snail's pace and seemed completely disorganized. It was clear she had no idea what she was doing! And ultimately, the error was on the side of the facility!!! My loved one and I had no choice but to leave and didn't even try to check on us or apologize for the long, uncompleted process! I had to hunt down to get an update and her response was curt and dismissive, ending with "do you have my business card?" I moved my family member out the very next day because nobody seemed to care about their well-being after coming back from the hospital. I would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR LOVED ONE TO BE NEGLECTED AND INJURED!

"Top-notch care and comfort make everyone happy here"

"Great Experience, but Expensive Medication"

Overall, my experience with Brookdale Irving has been very good. It's a very nice place with wonderful staff. My one complaint is that they've started giving her some medicine they say she needs, which seems really expensive to me. I'm currently looking into this.

"Trouble with Theft and Bugs at Assisted Living Facility"

My family members lived here for a year. During this time, there were 3 different people in charge, plus a change in ownership. This is an old building. There's a persistent problem with flies on the side with independent living and theft from those who can open the apartments. There are no rules or ways to track when the cleaning crew or upkeep staff goes into a senior's apartment. There's also no rule about not working when people are not there, no security cameras in the hallways, and no procedure to record complaints including theft. So, someone with a key has stolen $2000 worth of stuff from my family member's room. They do okay with activities and the food has recently gotten better. They offer rides to appointments, Walmart, Braums, and other outings. We're currently searching for a new place.

"Great job so far; we're satisfied with Emeritus at Irving"

They're doing a great job so far. I have no complaints. I don't really have anything to compare it to, but it seems like we're getting our money's worth. We're happy with Emeritus at Irving.

"Friendly, caring staff; good food; clean; great for memory care."

"Surprisingly Happy with My Assisted Living Experience"

I’ve been really happy here. At first, I didn’t want to come, but now I really like it. They call me by my first name quickly. The food is good, though it could be hotter. They use steam tables, but if you don’t get there right away, it can get cold. There are lots of activities, and they take me out to places like Walmart and the doctor.

"Happy and Settled in Irving"

I was referred to Emeritus by A Place for Mom while searching for a home for an elderly friend who didn’t have any family. The staff at Emeritus were really helpful, understanding, and patient. They listened carefully to all my worries about my friend. Within a week, we had secured a suite for him. He seems to have settled in well and is eating better now. It was important for him to stay in the Irving area, and he looks very happy in his new place. Emeritus made the transition smooth and affordable.

"Very Affordable, but Possibility of a Roommate"

It's an older place, and the residents seem to like it, but it's not as fancy or clean. The upkeep isn't great. The cost was very affordable at $900, which included meals. The downside was that the price covered a room with a potential roommate, even though she never actually had one. They don't usually pair people up unless they're full. Most residents were alone even in double rooms. The manager is a friendly guy, and the food was good—we ate there with my mom several times. The dining room staff were very helpful. Overall, it's just not as tidy.

"“Overall Positive Experience”"

There are a couple of things I’ve had questions about, but I haven’t had a chance to talk to them yet. When they were discussing my dad moving in, they mentioned doing housework for him, including dishes. However, no one seems to have taken care of that part. I need to check on it. Everything else is good. My dad enjoys the food, and the staff is really nice to him. The living quarters are very pleasant, surrounded by beautiful trees. Apart from the dishes issue, everything is positive. It might not be entirely their fault; sometimes my dad gets confused, which is why I’ll discuss it with them. So far, I like it. It’s the only facility within his price range in the area. Other places were either too expensive or lacked the amenities we wanted, such as meals and handicapped restrooms.

"Man Satisfied with Assisted Living, Woman Unhappy with Independent"

My dad's experience at the assisted living facility has been generally positive. The staff is approachable and really appears to care about him, recognizing him personally. I appreciate that the facility is cozy and small. Staff makes sure to remind him when it's time for meals or activities, which encourages him to engage more. Their activities director is wonderful. On the other hand, my mom, who is in independent living, moved into a cottage that needed some fix-ups which didn't get done. My mom has high standards and while others might have found the situation tolerable, we didn't. Initially, we had worries due to a broken elevator in the main building. It was out of service for three weeks, which was disappointing, but they managed the situation as best as they could. Regarding the meals, the food is okay and served in a cafeteria style. It may be suitable for some, but others, including my mom, find standing in lines off-putting. Despite this, the staff members who work there are amiable and treat the residents friendly.
