"Brookdale Memorial Oaks: A Recommended Choice for Care"
The food could be better, and they should have someone to open the front door for visitors after hours. Overall, I'd recommend Brookdale Memorial Oaks for care.

"Terrible Care and Lying Staff"
This place is terrible. They only care about money, not people. When my mom was unconscious, they refused to get her medical help. They tried to get rid of me before I saw her. They lied about what happened to her. When I finally saw her, I asked them to call an ambulance twice, but they refused both times. I had to call myself. The ambulance workers had to work on my mom for a long time - 20 minutes in her room and 30 minutes in the ambulance. She was in the hospital for a month and a half with bruises all over and a concussion. The people at this place just kept lying to me. When she got out of the hospital, I put her in a different place. This place is disgusting and has disgusting people working there.

"Cleanliness Concerns and Limited Care Capacity at Brookdale Memorial Oaks"
We visited Brookdale Memorial Oaks to find a place for our family member. The place was dirty and not very clean. They told us they couldn't take care of our loved one as well as we hoped.

"Clean and Caring Assisted Living Facility"
The assisted living facility is a bit older, but it's clean and well-maintained. The residents play bingo and seem well-cared for. If I can't find something closer to home, I'd consider this place. However, it's quite far from my house, especially with Houston traffic.

The staff was really friendly, especially those who helped move her in. The place smelled clean with no bad odors and was very cheerful. The community had fresh flowers and felt very homey.

"Horrendous Stay at Assisted Living Facility"
We had a terrible time when my dad was living in this community. We stayed with him during the day, but when he needed assistance at night, it would take almost 20 minutes before anyone showed up. We couldn't stand it and moved him out after only 5 days. No one should go through this, I can't recommend this place to anyone.

I visited this community, and the staff was friendly. We liked the room, but my dad didn't want a roommate. The place was clean, and the staff answered our questions. I'd recommend it to other families looking for a good community.

"Positive Staff Interaction and Clean Environment"
I noticed how residents and staff here interact positively. They keep the place clean, which I appreciate. When I have lunch with my loved one, it's always good. If I have concerns, they usually get back to me. One thing they could do better is offer more activities.

"Assisted Living Facility Provides Excellent Care and Support for Residents"
Coming from another state, we had some problems at first with paperwork and medicine. However, the director and his team helped us fix everything so my mom could move into the memory unit without any issues. Besides those things, it's been a positive experience. The caregivers here are great. They take really good care of my mom and make sure she has everything she needs. They've also been very helpful and given me good advice about what my mom might like. Mom is joining in and doing lots of activities they have all day long. The food looks good and my mom says it tastes good too. They not only take good care of her but also help her get used to her new home with kindness. I'm sure they'll look after my mom well and with love. I'd recommend this place to anyone with a parent who has dementia or Alzheimer's.

"Brookdale's Unfair Fee Increase After Family Tragedy"
My wife was promised a discounted rate of $4200 a month if she paid by the 3rd at Brookdale. They even sent a letter, reducing the cost to $3450. But after her brother passed away, they're now asking for more money.

"New Manager Tackles Assisted Living Issues"

""Learn Nursing Costs Before Choosing an Assisted Living Facility""
Be sure to understand the nursing plans before making a choice. That's what we learned with my mom. We thought she could take her own medicine and that her nursing price would be low. The test they used to see if she could give herself medication was a bit harsh. In the end, we saw almost a $400 rise in her monthly care costs. The food's just okay. Sometimes, the laundry gets lost. The new boss does seem like he's trying to fix our problems.

"Upset Resident, Limited Attention at Assisted Living Facility"
When I visited this place, they didn’t bother showing me a model room. Instead, they just showed me a room that someone - a really upset old lady - was already living in. She was pretty mad when she walked in and found me, a total stranger, in her room. Compared to other places I've looked at, it felt like the folks here don’t get as much personal care or attention.

"An Excellent Choice for Assisted Living"
Many people, including my mom’s doctor, said Emeritus/Brookdale Memorial Oaks is one of the best places in Houston for assisted living. We checked it out and agree—it’s great! We’ve told our friends with elderly parents or grandparents about it too. If you need assisted care, definitely consider this place.

"Friendly staff, good food, and happy with the care!"
The staff here is really great. They’re friendly and helpful. For example, my mom once shared a room with another lady, and it didn’t work out well. The staff went out of their way to move her to a better place. One thing to improve is responding a bit faster to emergency calls. I know they have a lot of residents, but that’s one thing I’ve noticed. Overall, we are very happy. The food is good too.

"Assisted Living: Cozy Community, Room for Improvement"
This place feels like a tight-knit community, but the rooms could use some updates or renovations. Out of the four we visited with my mom and wife, it seemed to fall behind after our second visit to another facility. Unfortunately, it just didn't meet our needs.

"Clean and welcoming environment with friendly, accommodating staff."
At Emeritus at Memorial, everything's been going pretty well. It's clean and looks nice, and the staff have all been really nice and acted professionally. They've been easy to talk to and have helped us out with whatever we needed. At first, there were some hiccups because I don't think they were ready for how much energy my loved one has, but things got better afterward.

We visited this place while exploring care options for our loved one. We liked the appearance and atmosphere here more than the other Emeritus facility we considered. Unfortunately, they didn't have the room types we wanted during our search, and time constraints were a factor. Overall, it's a very pleasant location.

"Poor Care, Unpleasant Staff, and Bad Smells at Assisted Living Facility"
The care here leaves a lot to be desired. With only one caregiver for every twenty residents, people are often left sitting in their mess for too long. There are staff members who just don't do their job right, like taking off a resident's diaper and not putting a new one on. This leads to messes around the facility and on top of that, they'll even try to bill you for the cleanup. The overall smell in the building is terrible. The guy in charge is good, but it's clear he doesn't have a lot of control over how things are run. It's a corporate-owned place that restricts him from hiring more staff. Despite being advertised as assisted living, they'll practically keep you there until your last breath. It's far from an ideal situation.

"A Great Place for My Mom"
My mom started in Assisted Living because she had a pet. After her pet died, the directors suggested moving her to Memory Care. She is SO much happier there. She is never alone (she had a private room in Assisted Living), and she never feels lost because the caregivers are always around. Even the other residents help each other. There is real affection between Mom and her caregivers. The relief I feel knowing she is well cared for is indescribable. The facility is older and has a “lived in” look, but it’s clean, the food is good, and the care is attentive.

"Unattended Seniors and Disrespectful Staff at Assisted Living Facility"
NO CHANCE! We visited this place. I had a bad vibe just entering the parking lot. When we entered the main entrance, three unattended elderly women in wheelchairs caught our attention. They seemed lost in their thoughts with no one around to assist them. It was truly heartbreaking. Our appointment with the Executive Director was disrupted by a person in need of notary services. The director stopped our session and left to help them - it felt really disrespectful and unprofessional. The dining hall was dimly lit and eerily silent, with everyone having their meal without uttering a word. The place felt more like a gloomy institution than a place to call home. It was sad and demoralizing. I wouldn’t even think about leaving my beloved one here.

"Large facility with a small, secure memory care unit"
The facility is big, but the memory care unit is small. It's very secure because the unit is locked. I liked the memory care director, who has worked there for 18 years. The rooms have carpets and private bathrooms. The unit is clean, sunny, and doesn’t smell. Meals are only served in the dining room, not in the rooms. The memory care director expects caregivers to spend a lot of time with the patients and encourage them.
