"Friendly and spacious living with daily nutritious meals"
The facility is a wonderful place to live. There is always someone around to help you, and everyone is very friendly. Living independently here feels just like living in your own home. The cottages are big and have their own garages. You also get healthy meals every day.

"Great Community, Needs Some Updates"
We are happy to share about this independent living community. It needs some updates and repairs to the outside, but they are working on it. The landscaping and street lighting could use more attention, and the window units are foggy. Also, the streets are slippery.

"Mixed Feelings: Beautiful Facility, Lack of Information and Communication"
We thought the building was really nice, like a cozy home. It seemed easy for residents to feel comfortable there. They always have activities happening, and according to our family member, the food is great. One thing that could be better, maybe because of COVID, is that after our family member moved in, we weren't given a proper introduction to how things work at Brookdale. We didn't know what our family member needed to do or when. Also, we've asked multiple times who the director of nursing is, but we keep getting different names.

"Spacious Duplex, But Needs Better Orientation"
I picked Brookdale because they had a duplex available, which was hard to find. The duplex is really big, and we have lots of space. We’ve been figuring out some things on our own since they didn’t tell us everything when we moved in. It would be nice if they had a meeting or a paper to explain things to new residents. I would recommend them, but with some reservations.

"Misled About Accommodations Need Main Building, 2 Bedrooms, Accessibility."
The cottage seemed nice at first but wasn't what we expected. We thought it would fit our needs, but it turns out it doesn't. They should have told us that upfront. We have to move to the main building, but they only have two-bedroom units on the second floor, which won't work because we can't walk. A one-bedroom will be too small for us. Plus, we can't use the extra activities, so we're paying for things we can't enjoy. We'll have to find another place that suits us better. It's disappointing to leave, but we have to do what's best for us.

"Poorly Kept Facility with Small, Poorly Laid-Out Rooms"
When I was searching for a new home for my dear one, I liked this place the least. It's in pretty bad shape, except for what you see from the outside. The rooms are not properly maintained, and they're also quite small. The staff, though, are very nice and always ready to help. But the main problem for me was the size and shape of the rooms, so I decided not to choose this place.

"Sterile, Uninviting Atmosphere Restricts Flexibility"
My mom and stepdad were looking for a new place and we looked at this one. It seemed pretty cold and not very lively, not like some other places we'd been to. It lacked a friendly vibe. The environment felt more like a hospital than a home. The person who showed us around had a bunch of rules and it wasn't that adjustable. You had to fit in their specific criteria. It wasn't that adaptable.

This place is perfect for mom; it’s independent living. The staff here are super friendly and really care about fixing any problems fast. The dining room is nice, and the food is tasty. There are many activities she’s excited to join. The grounds are green and well-kept. I’d recommend this clean community to anyone.

"Place Too Noisy and Outdated For Dad"
We visited this place thinking of my dad and what he needs. The tour itself went well, but the main hangout spots were really noisy. Also, the place could take a bit of sprucing up here and there. The color scheme is from last decade. All in all, I just didn't feel like this was where my father should be.

"Convenient Location for Mom's Happy Community Life"
My mom likes living here. The staff helps her. She's safe and happy. I visit daily and notice it's pretty clean. One time after church, we saw Mom playing with others, which made us happy. I wish the food was better, and they need more activities. There's no gym for exercise. Since I'm close, I can get there fast. I'd recommend it to other families.

"Bad Experience, Unfit Accommodations and Unfriendly Staff"
Our time with Brookdale North Richland Hills wasn't great. The place looks nice, but they didn't consider what was right for my loved one's needs when we moved her in. This was our first time finding senior care, so we counted on them to help us. Unfortunately, she ended up in a place that totally didn't work for her mobility and care needs. Plus, the staff didn't seem very friendly or inviting.

"Decent location, but feels too much like a nursing home!"
The location was pretty decent, and the workers were extremely kind. I noticed a few residents were active and engaged. However, I wasn't a fan of where they placed the eating area and didn't like that it felt more like a nursing home than a community. This simply wasn't what my mom and dad needed.

"Cozy Assisted Living with Great Dining, Slight Shower Concern"
This place is really nice, and they have lots of food choices in their dining area. It's two floors, and the dining room is upstairs. There are many places where you can do activities or have family get-togethers. My only worry is that the shower's edge might be a bit high for my mom.

"Good people, but care and food could be better."
The folks at this assisted living place are real nice, especially the ones who do advertising. But, sometimes the care could be better. Some employees are great, some aren't. The nursing hasn't been all that great, and it's hard to set a schedule. I ate there once and it was tasty, but she keeps saying the food is getting worse. She says the chicken is getting rubberier, and portions are getting smaller. Maybe it's the kitchen's fault. There are lots of fun activities and cool programs though. They do try to fix problems, and when I mentioned some things, they got to work on them real quick. Some folks living there don't really like the newcomers, and stick to their old friends.

"Stay Far Away from Horizon Bay Assisted Living"
At first, my aunt's move to Horizon Bay about 18 months ago seemed okay. The apartment was nice as was the food and staff, although some services did cost more than other places. The best part was, it was close to us. However, after six months, the food quality dipped so drastically we ultimately had to pull her out. She barely touched anything but breakfast, and sometimes lunch, and even ended up anemic. Changes in the staff didn't help - the new administrative staff did little, and their nurse was just a waste of space. We voiced our concerns, but changes either didn't come or only made things worse. They've updated their apartments somewhat, replacing kitchenettes and carpets as people left, which must be nice for residents because the dining room food is just awful. Friends still living there have told us they're desperately looking for other places, some even having family bring groceries so they can microwave their meals. Other people we've met have left already. As if that wasn't bad enough, they hiked up the rent and tacked on even more to their exorbitant assistance fees. Honestly, I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone.

This place is big and nice. The apartments are big and nice too. They have lots of good food, but you can't ask for special food sometimes. The dining room is open from 7 in the morning until 7 at night. They have a bus that takes people to Walmart. There's a big piano in the lobby, and sometimes she plays it. They also have a beauty parlor and lots of things to do.

"Great care, but billing issues."
I'll start by saying the care here was great. My mom loved it, and they kept her happy and comfortable until she passed. But we had problems afterward. I wasn't told I'd still be billed until all her things were gone. Even though I was talking to them, they never mentioned I was being charged daily until everything was out. The front desk person said he didn't know after the fact. They need to make sure their staff knows the billing rules. The saleswoman, Beverly, was also rude and said, "Well, you should have read your contract closer.

"Moderate Yet Challenging Living Experience"
For three months, I've lived here, and it's pretty ordinary. Everyone pretends it's amazing, but it's really not that special. The meals sound tasty on the menu but usually disappoint. They claim to do Mexican cuisine, but they can't. The tortillas are bad and I've never seen cheese sauce in anything. Often, the food is so tough, you'd need real teeth to chew. There's a TV in the hall for everyone, but when it broke, it took them a month to fix it. My toilet was too short when I moved in. I felt like I was squatting. After a lot of fuss, they replaced it. I made it happen because I'm stubborn, but most people might not be as successful.

"Great Fit and Helpful Staff, Worth the Extra Cost"
Loved this place! It’s a great fit for us. Beverly was super helpful and gave a lot of information. We spent about an hour and a half on the tour and meeting. I put down a $500 hold on a 2-bedroom unit because of a special offer. Beverly also helped with financial options and support. The $500 is fully refundable if we change our mind. It’s about $300 more than our budget, but it’s worth it. I’ll meet with my mom to see if she’ll be accepted, and a nurse will do an evaluation, which will be a key factor.

"Visited Horizon Bay, Pleasant with Areas for Improvement"
I checked out Horizon Bay at NRH and had a chat with the Director. It's a nice place, hiding away from main roads and the usual busy traffic - the location is right off Blvd 26. I peeked into one of the cottages. They are cozy with enough closet space. There's a screened patio that unfortunately overlooks a road. I wish there was something more soothing like a water fountain than cars zooming by. The standalone living arrangement in the so-called 'big house' didn't impress me. It lacked a kitchen or even a space for a small table, being overly cramped, with the only seating option in the main hallway. Everything appeared clean and maintained well. The staff came across as friendly. A lot of residents were hanging out in the porch near the entrance. It felt more like a care home than a vibrant community for seniors.
