"Limited Care, Unfulfilled Promises, Frequent Turnover"

I rated it a 2, not one, because the food is decent. But I suggest looking at other places. During the tour, they highlight things that, looking back, aren't really important. What truly matters is how the staff treats your loved one. Sadly, the staff and managers change a lot, showing no commitment. In MEMORY CARE, residents are just put in front of a TV, which they call engagement. But do they talk or spend time with your loved one? Rarely. Do they take them outside often? Almost never. And those gardens they promised to maintain with residents? Never happened. Caregivers only dress, medicate, and feed them. That's it. Otherwise, your loved one just sits or wanders. Bathrooms are often dirty. I'm tired of feeling like if I'm not there, our loved one isn't cared for. We're searching elsewhere now.

"Cozy, Friendly Parmer Woods with Enjoyable Activities and Meals"

Parmer Woods at North Austin is a cozy two-story building, which helps our loved one get used to things more easily. They have nice activities, and the staff is friendly. Our mother enjoys the meals they prepare.

"False facade in Care, Stay Alert! Don't Be Fooled!"

This place isn't what they make it out to be during the tour. I've experienced it. They might try to lure you in with pleasant appearances, but it's a trick. Make sure to drop in unannounced several times before you make up your mind. Pay very close attention to what's happening or being overlooked.

"Disappointing Experience at Parmer Woods Assisted Living Facility"

My dad stayed at Parmer Woods for a year. We believed what they said we could expect. He was supposed to be accompanied to activities, but it rarely happened. After a month in assisted living, he moved to memory care. The Dr. said the connections program was great, but we hardly saw it in action during our daily visits. Despite having oxygen, the Inogen machine's battery was often dead because they didn't recharge it properly. The staff struggled to put in my dad's hearing aids even with instructions from my sister. There was no executive director for 8 out of 12 months, and no one seemed accountable.

"A Disappointing Experience"

If you’re wondering whether to bring your loved one here, think twice. Imagine dropping off your kindergartener at a place that lacks essential staff. It might look good on the surface, but if they don’t treat your child with respect, maintain cleanliness, or attend to their health, it’s not worth it. Here are the issues we faced: No Executive Director: Leadership has been absent for 8 out of 12 months. Missing Memory Care Activities Director: Residents spend most of their day watching TV or wandering. Inconsistent Front Desk Coverage: Staff pulled from other jobs, neglecting resident needs.

"Poor Management at Assisted Living Facility"

The staff acted unprofessional and unkind, never willing to help. Management was terrible too. They didn't organize my family member's profile during their stay, and my family member ended up hospitalized twice. I felt stressed, checking on them daily. The staff didn't even contact the doctors when needed. It's like most places prioritize business over care.

"Positive experience but staff sometimes fall short"

Overall, it’s been a good experience. She has a studio apartment. I haven’t seen it because I live far away, but her nieces set up the furniture and think it looks cute. They offer housekeeping, laundry, activities, outings, meals, cable, a hair salon, and nurses. She doesn’t need much care right now, manages her own medication, and doesn’t need help with daily activities. She says the staff are nice but sometimes don’t follow through on what they promise. However, she understands they are short-staffed, like many places these days.

"Mixed Feelings about Parmer Woods Assisted Living Facility"

Parmer Woods is a pretty nice place to live, but they're facing a problem like everyone else: not enough staff. Some of the people who work there are super nice and always there when you need them, but others aren't as reliable. Our family member tells us that everyone who lives there is friendly and helpful to each other, and we've seen that too. It's great that the residents stick together. However, they could do better at keeping families in the loop and responding to them faster.

"Friendly Staff and Recent Updates, but Building is Older"

This is a nice community with friendly staff. They just updated the place, but it’s still an older building.

"Happy with care but maintenance and phone access could improve"

Overall, we're pretty happy with the place. We’ve had some issues getting maintenance requests completed. The food is okay neither great nor terrible. Sometimes, it’s tough to reach someone on the phone. However, I believe the care is generally good.

"Quick Change in Staff, but New Team Shows Promise"

We had a unique experience here. We had to make a quick choice based on a virtual tour during Covid. Since our loved one moved in, there has been a complete change in management. We had some serious issues at first due to miscommunications. The executive director left, and soon after, the director of health and wellness left. Then the facilities director, the activities director, the concierge, and the finance person all left. I’m not sure why they left, but there’s a whole new team now, so it’s hard to know how things will go. We’ve talked a lot with the new executive director, who has been on the job for just a week. She seemed very impressive. The care for our loved one started off well, except for a big issue on her first day. But it was quickly fixed as soon as I contacted someone at the regional level, which was good. During a big freeze, it seemed like the staff did a good job with what they had. The old executive director made a big mistake, but it was corrected within a few hours, so no lasting harm was done. I’ve been impressed with the regional office because they recognized the problems and acted quickly to fix them. They brought in regional people to fill in until new hires were made. Based on what I’ve seen, I’m confident the new hires will do a good job. We’ll see how it goes.
