"Cozy, Well-Managed Facility with Good Food and Transportation"
Patriot Heights feels like home. It has a cozy, rustic vibe since it's an older place, but there are lots of activities. The management is always around to help. Food is served from 9 am to 6 pm. You can get breakfast all day, and lunch or dinner until 6. They also provide transportation off-campus five days a week.

"Supportive move, active community, and many new friends made."
We moved here 7 months ago to help support my mother-in-law, who has lived here for over 10 years. We enjoy living here, take part in community activities, and have made many friends.

"Inconsistent care and staff turnover at assisted living facility"
This place is okay if your family member needs help with meals and keeping their apartment tidy. But, there's a lot of staff changes here. Everyone is nice, but they might not know enough about caring for older people. Don't pick this place if your loved one needs more than food, a place to stay, and cleaning help.

"Mixed feelings about Patriot Heights retirement community"
I think it's important to check if your family members should be in independent living instead of assisted living. Patriot Heights is like a place for retired folks. We really liked the room our loved one got, and we appreciated that their apartment was cleaned five days a week.

"Spacious, Chef-Prepared Living with Security"
I want others to know that this place is definitely for independent living. The apartment is really spacious almost too big. The meals are prepared by a chef and taste great. Plus, there's a guarded entry, which is nice. I recommend it.

"Outdated, worn-out, needs updates; food and quality could improve."
I don’t think it is well-kept at all. It needs updating because it is outdated. They replace things as cheaply as possible, and even the paint is cracked. It’s a lovely area with potential to be very nice. It’s not dirty, just worn out and tired. The food is awful; it doesn’t taste good and is low quality. I love the apartment floor plan; it just needs to be redone.

"Caring Community with Purposeful Living"
This place is amazing! It feels like a close-knit military family. I chatted with some caring staff members. The ‘buddy system’ and ‘purposeful living’ concept are fantastic.

"Pleasant Community Experience"
I visited Brookdale and found the community very pleasant. During our tour, they didn't have a room for my loved one, but they kindly referred us to another nearby Brookdale facility.

"Clean, friendly, but pricey; consider closer options for affordability."
We toured this assisted living place. It was nice. The staff answered all my questions. It was clean and well taken care of. But it was far from our doctors and too expensive for us. I think other families should check it out though.

"Independent Living with Minimal Assistance"
Living in this community means needing more independence. They don't provide walkers or wheelchairs, so you have to be able to move around on your own. It's a place with minimal care. The most assistance residents require is usually related to their medication.

"Great place with minor issues, friendly staff, and tasty milkshakes"
I've been living at Patriot Heights for over four years now. I attend nearly all of the activities they offer here. My family and I have had a few issues during my time, but the staff has always handled them quickly and kept us updated. While no place is perfect, Patriot Heights is very close. I'm happy here and proud to call it my home. If you visit, definitely try a strawberry milkshake they’re the best!

"Caring and Welcoming Assisted Living at Patriot Heights"
Patriot Heights always takes care of my needs. Even though my family doesn't live in San Antonio, they go above and beyond to make sure I get what I want. The outdoor seating area is lovely, perfect for birdwatching and soaking up the sun. I enjoy playing bingo there, and they offer a variety of prizes—I usually choose jewelry and sun hats. My two years at Patriot Heights have been wonderful. They provide continuous care, even when I'm difficult. The housekeepers are fantastic, always ready to listen to my concerns.

"Great place, but needs more space"
We visited this place and really liked how clean it was. The staff were friendly during our tour. We appreciated having choices between cooking our own meals or enjoying the provided ones. However, the cottages seemed a bit small for our needs. We would have preferred the community if it was larger.

"Friendly Staff, Great Food, Fun Activities, and Perfect Rooms"
I really like living at Brookdale Patriot Heights. It’s a beautiful place with great landscaping. The staff are super friendly and always ready to help. The food is tasty with lots of options, and they serve two big meals a day. My room is perfect, with a big picture window and a balcony. There are lots of fun activities for residents, and I love the social events they organize. I’m looking forward to the upcoming ice cream social! They also provide rides to doctor appointments and shopping. I definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

"Great community, knowledgeable coordinator, lacking care for specific needs."
The coordinator from Brookdale was really helpful. She knew a lot and told us this place might not be best for my family. They needed more help than this place could give. But the community seemed really cool. Everyone was friendly and the place was super clean.

"Good place, but didn't match our needs."
This place was pretty decent. We really liked the staff! But, they told us my parents would get a first floor room. That didn't happen and they had to be on the third floor. This wasn't good for my dad who has dementia.

"Nice place but not the right fit for my mom"
This place appeared to be managed well, and the person who showed me around was awesome. But, I gave it a 3 out of 5 because I don't believe it suits my mom's needs. It wasn't bad or anything, it just came across very conventional - and that's not how my mom likes to live.

"Food could be tastier"
I'm really glad I moved into this community. There are lots of activities planned by the staff, and I enjoy spending time with the other residents. However, I think they could make the food better. It's pretty bland and doesn't have much flavor.

"Dining Room Hours Make It Hard for Family to Join"
The only thing I don't like is that the dining room closes at 6. My family lives in San Antonio and works, so it's really hard for them to join me for dinner. I usually eat between 6:30 and 8, so by 10 I get hungry and crave a snack!

We’re really happy with Brookdale Patriot Heights! The staff is friendly and professional, and they’ve been a huge help every step of the way. They’re always quick to answer any questions or handle any requests. When we first moved my loved one into her apartment, there were a few maintenance issues, but they fixed everything quickly.

"Fantastic Assisted Living with Friendly Staff and Beautiful Grounds"
Great place for mom! The facility feels like a community, and both the staff and residents are very friendly. A welcome committee made up of residents helped her feel at home right away. The food is included and really good like restaurant quality, with buffets on Sundays. Plus, she can invite her friends or me to join her for a small fee. There are lots of activities and outings, and the grounds are beautiful with deer everywhere, which is why the street is called Fawn Meadow. It gives me peace of mind knowing my mom is well cared for and happy. The only downsides are that there was a leak in the pool, so it was closed for two months, and dinner is only served until 6 o’clock. I think they should extend dinner time to at least 7. Overall, it's been a great experience, and my mom really likes it there.

"Front Nice, Back of Facility Neglected"
The healthcare building way out back, on the hill, definitely needs some fixing up. It looks straight outta the '70s. I wouldn't dream of letting my mom stay there. It's crazy how the front part, where the independent living is, looks all nice and then you see what's hidden in the back.

"Vibrant, Friendly Community with Lots of Activities"
My parents have been living at Patriot Heights for almost a year and they love it! The food is really tasty, the staff is nice and always helps out, and the neighbors are great. There are lots of activities like card games, movies, book clubs, eating at local restaurants, visiting museums, and surprise trips (and more). It always seems like there’s something fun happening for everyone. The only problem now is finding time to talk to them because they are so busy having a good time! It’s been a perfect place for them.

"Convenient Location with Some Amenities, Not as Beautiful as Others"
This assisted living place has two bedrooms and two bathrooms in the main building on the ground floor. It's close to the main medical complex, but I'm not sure how long it takes to get to Incarnate Word by cab. The gardens and walking paths might not be as nice as those at Inn At Los Patios.
