"“Unpleasant Experience at Assisted Living Facility”"

My family member stayed here for around 6 months, but we wouldn’t suggest it. The food wasn’t tasty, the cleaning wasn’t great, and the room was too dark. The staff was impolite and unhelpful.

"Brookdale Facility Disappoints with Price Hike and Institutional Feel"

We filled out all the forms and had an evaluation, thinking this place was right for my loved one. We hired movers and had everything sorted. But, just four days before the move, they raised the price for her care. It seems like Brookdale often does this, luring you in and then jacking up the cost. It left me scrambling to find another place for her. The place felt too much like a hospital, too cold and impersonal. After checking out other options, we're relieved we chose somewhere cozier and more like home.

"Great Assisted Living Facility with Friendly Staff and Cleanliness"

The facility is great for assisted living. I used to work here and was always excited about it. It’s very clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful to the residents.

"Happy with Brookdale: Good food, active community, and helpful staff"

Things are going well for my loved one at Brookdale. The staff are generally accommodating and try to be helpful. Sometimes, they could be more proactive. The food is quite good, and I’m glad they serve three meals a day to ensure proper nutrition. The community is very active. The activities director is full of energy and always encourages residents to join in events. The layout is nice and easy to navigate. Overall, we’re very happy with Brookdale and would recommend it to other families.

"Lively Community with Good Food and Helpful Staff"

Things are going well at Brookdale for my loved one. The staff are generally helpful and accommodating, though sometimes they could be a bit more proactive. The food is pretty good, and it’s great that they provide three meals a day to make sure my loved one gets proper nutrition. The community is very lively, thanks to an enthusiastic activities director who always encourages everyone to join in. The place is also laid out nicely and is easy to get around. Overall, we’re very pleased with Brookdale and would recommend it to other families.

"Good Place, Could Use Updates"

I visited this community. It was pretty nice but seemed a bit old. The carpets were worn and stained, but they said they'd be getting new ones soon. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the staff seemed active, engaging with residents in various activities, like crafts. The rooms were decent, but they weren't furnished, so they looked a bit empty. However, the tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative. Overall, it was a nice facility, but it didn't exactly meet our specific needs.

"Happy with the Move to a Smaller Community"

My aunt is happy with her move to this place. She is doing well, and as far as I know, everything has worked out fine. We picked this place because it’s not very big. It’s smaller than other places, but it’s easier for her to get around. We’re satisfied with her move here; it’s a nice place.

"Aunt Thrilled With Smaller, Easier-to-Navigate Community"

My aunt is happy with her new place here. Everything seems to be going well. We picked this community because it’s smaller than others, making it easier for her to get around. We’re pleased with her move; it’s a nice place.

"Mom enjoys leading activities here"

The staff here are so nice and they really love my mom. They let her lead the sing-a-longs and even sent me a picture of her leading exercise classes. She used to be a teacher and loves doing these things, which makes her really happy. This is a very nice community. Since it's smaller and focused on memory care, my mom gets more attention, and I know she's in a safe and secure place.

"Beautiful Landscaping, but Small Bedrooms Disappointing"

I toured this place for my mom. It was nice. The gardens were pretty, but the bedrooms were too small.

"A Good Place with Room for Improvement"

My brother’s been at Brookdale Richland Hills for 3 months. The staff takes good care of him, and he likes the food. He's had some health issues like incontinence and trouble moving, but we hope he'll get better with time. His care and rate have both gone up since he got here, but the communication about these changes could be better. Overall, I’m happy with how they're looking after my brother, though I wish it cost less.

"Great care and clean environment at Brookdale Richland Hills"

We are very happy with Brookdale Richland Hills because they treat my husband really well. The place is clean, and the building is kept in great shape. I've been offered their meals but haven’t tried them yet; my husband says they are very good.

"My Mother’s Care"

I enjoy this community for my mom. The staff is caring and helpful, and the place is clean and pleasant. Mom likes the food and variety, and she also enjoys the small trips outside. I recommend this place to other families for excellent care and value.

"Excellent Care and Happy Environment for Dad"

I’m really pleased with the care my dad gets from the amazing staff here. The place is nice and very clean. He enjoys the food, and we were able to spend the holiday with him. The variety of meals is great. There are activities for him to join, and sometimes he takes part in the fun ones. He seems happy, which makes our family happy too. When he moved in, he made a lot of friends, and they even threw him a small birthday party the day after he arrived. He feels right at home here. We’re glad he’s close by, and we definitely recommend this place for its great care and value.

"Great care and clean environment make this place a top choice!"

I’m really pleased with the care here. The rooms and outdoor areas are clean, and the activities are enjoyable. The food looks good, and the place feels safe. I really appreciate the doctor who takes excellent care of my mom. I’ve already recommended this community to other families for great care.

"Nice but unsuitable and overpriced for mom's care"

This place was quite good but it wasn't suitable for my mom. I felt it was a bit expensive for what they provided.

"Disappointed with Disorderly Brookdale Richland Hills"

The vibe at Brookdale Richland Hills wasn't great. It didn't seem well maintained or have much to provide. The people I met there were friendly, but the place itself wasn't put together nicely. Everything looked messy and I didn't think my tour was good.

"Room Atmosphere Needs Improvement"

I visited this assisted living place, and the rooms didn't feel cozy. But the rest was neat and tidy. The guide was really helpful and shared all the details. The food and activities seemed awesome.

"Terrible handling, little communication by Brookdale"

We had an awful time with Brookdale and I wouldn't suggest them to anyone. To me, they seemed downright careless with my family member. Most times when I dropped by, he was sleeping in his room, frequently in an unchanged diaper. Whenever a problem arose and he had to go to the hospital, they didn't even take the time to ring me. I found out only when I reached out to them. It felt like they were simply telling me what I wanted to hear before we moved him in. When we shifted him out after just one month, I got barely any refund from the over $9,000 I had already paid.

"Great Care and Convenient Location"

Moving Mom into this facility has been a positive experience, given the situation. It's conveniently close to me, so I know she's getting the care she needs. Even though Mom hasn’t joined any activities yet, it's only because she prefers not to. There are plenty of things for residents to do. Mom is starting radiation next week, so I hope everything continues to go smoothly. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for care nearby.

"Great Staff, Communication Needs Improvement, Small Living Spaces"

I feel like there's a lack of clear communication here. When you're checking out a place, there's so much to consider that I might have missed some things. But, we had a tough time with the bills at first. There are lots of extra charges, and they're billing us for services they haven't even started. The office stuff could definitely be more organized. The folks there have been really patient and friendly. Rick, Dawn, and everyone else have been awesome. No big complaints about the food, staff, or cleaning. The main issue is that it's super tiny—the apartment itself is really small, especially for two people.

"Review of Assisted Living at Brookdale Richland Hills - Richland Hills, TX"

"Really Unhappy with Brookdale's Lack of Personal Care"

We were only at Brookdale Richland Hills for a week. My mom was there in hopes of receiving more personal care. But after just three days, she was stuck in her room and completely neglected, her health worsening terribly. We shifted her to a different spot and she's doing way better there.

"Good Assisted Living Facility with Some Surprises"

They treat my dad really well, and the place is nice. Overall, it's a good facility, and we're happy we picked it. But there are unexpected expenses I didn't know about when searching for a place for my dad. They offer many activities, but they need more options for men. I thought there would be more outings to leave the facility, but there aren't. Still, I'm satisfied with the facility.

"Brookdale Provides Outstanding Care and Comfort for Loved Ones"

Brookdale is fantastic. The care there is top-notch. My mom was happy and didn’t cry every day. She stayed for two weeks, costing $2400, but it was worth it. The place was clean and comfortable, and it didn’t feel understaffed. If they were, it wasn’t obvious. The staff spent time with the residents and interacted with them. I’m not sure about the activities, but Betsy, who was in charge, knew everything about my mom and took great care of her. I have no complaints.

"Exceptional care at Brookdale beyond expectations and highly recommended!"

The caretakers at Brookdale are amazing. They took care of my mom for two weeks while we were on vacation. Before this, we had a nursing home that was very expensive and treated her badly. Brookdale was more affordable and treated her very well. They went far beyond what I expected. The food was great. I wish I had enough money to keep her there full-time because I would do it in a heartbeat. I can’t say enough good things about them!

"Great Service and Friendly Staff at Brookdale Richland Hills"

We got amazing service for our loved ones. Everyone was friendly and helpful, always making sure the residents were comfortable and happy. We used Brookdale for Mom’s respite care and were very pleased. Thank you to the staff at Brookdale Richland Hills. We hope to use your services again.

Everyone exceeded my expectations. My mother was cared for well during her 2-week stay. I highly recommend this home to anyone needing care for their loved ones.

"Outstanding care and great environment highly recommended!"

They really do an amazing job here. The place is clean, and the staff is really friendly. They pay close attention and respond quickly. There are fun activities, and my loved one has gone to a few and enjoyed them. He also loves the food. This place is by far the best one we looked at there's no comparison. We liked that the community is small enough to have a good caregiver-to-resident ratio. I also appreciate that they have a set routine, so we know where he will be and what to expect. From the moment we showed up unannounced on a Saturday to check things out, we’ve been extremely happy with it.

"Competitively Priced Assisted Living Facility Worth Considering"

This place is pretty nice and good for people who need help living. They can't help with memory care though. But the prices are fair compared to others.

"Cleanliness and Billing Issues Marred Experience"

Our experience with this facility was not great at all. Firstly, there seemed to be a problem with cleanliness, especially in the part where my family member stayed. There was a really strong smell of urine there. The other big problem had to do with paying bills. I had already paid for a couple of months and a big community fee. But after a few days, my family member had to go to the hospital and couldn’t come back to the facility. I thought I had made a clear agreement with one of their staff about how the bills would be handled. However, someone else from the facility started asking me for money while we were busy with my family member's hospice care. It just turned out to be a less than satisfactory experience.

"A Caring Home for Dad with Alzheimer's"

We chose Clare Bridge for our dad after he developed severe dementia following anesthesia. He had been in a skilled nursing facility but it didn't handle his Sundowning well at all. He was constantly yelling "Help me" and often didn’t even realize it. We figured out that the medications he was on were making things worse, and he lost the ability to walk. So, we started looking for other options, focusing on memory care. From the moment I walked into Clare Bridge, I knew it was the right place. It feels more like a real home rather than a nursing facility. They only care for people with dementia and Alzheimer’s here, and I noticed their approach was much better. Dealing with this disease is tough, and I’m learning more every day. But Clare Bridge creates a calm and nurturing environment where residents feel safe and secure. Their routine and consistency are crucial for those with dementia. The staff here is amazing they are kind, gentle, and truly compassionate. They handle tough situations with grace and don’t just rely on medication. They look for other solutions first. If you're searching for a secure and loving place for your parent, Clare Bridge of Richland Hills is excellent. They have made my life much easier. I can finally relax, sleep better, and enjoy time with my family, knowing my dad is in good hands.

"Needs more staff and better care"

I used to know this place as Clarebridge for memory care. My loved one has fallen a few times, and no one was around to help. The food is good, but the service is lacking. I don’t think there’s enough staff. Make sure this is really where you want your loved one to be. They do try to care.

"Failed to Help My Loved One; Food and Care Average"

This place should have helped my family member, but they failed. The food offered is just ok. Unfortunately, they expect every resident to be the same. Their memory care should treat everyone like unique individuals because no two people are alike!

"Betsy's April 14th Tour: High-Priced Rooms in a Locked Facility"

She visited this place on April 14. The cost for a private room is $4250 each month. Sadly, they had no semi-private rooms available. Also, the facility is totally secure - only the staff know the access code.

3.5/5.00 Published 11 years ago

"Nice People, High Cost"

We checked out this place, but it cost more than we expected. The exterior looked cute, but the inside didn't match. The staff was friendly, though we never had anyone live there to see the activities they offered.

"Challenging to Gauge Care Needs in a Somewhat Chaotic Facility"

Rating an assisted living facility is tough for me because they didn't give him enough care. I'm not sure whose fault this is since it was our first time in this situation, so I don't know who should have known better. I can't place all the blame on them since I was also unsure of how much care he needed. The facility was conveniently located, small-sized, and had staff who were very nice when we first visited. The place can be chaotic, but remember that's just my personal experience. It wouldn't be fair to label them bad based on one experience. Determining what care a resident needs must be really hard, if not impossible. I think they should assist people in understanding what to expect in terms of care. For newcomers like us, we need a lot of guidance on what to realistically expect.

"A heartfelt journey with mixed feelings"

It's a place for older folks, not as fancy as Autumn Leaf or Oak Hollow, but it's okay. It looked good, and I liked the people there. It's smaller, which was nice. It was my first time dealing with this, so it was tough. It's hard when your mom has dementia and has to move to a new place. It's emotional knowing your mom is at that stage. I'm not sure if this was the right place for her. The director was nice, but looking back, there's a lot of marketing involved, which I didn't realize. Starting this process is tough and you learn a lot along the way.

"Great care despite challenges. Julie stands out in activities."

It's been pretty good overall, and I'm quite happy. Grandma's on routine hospice, and Mom's there too. But the day after I moved them in, my daddy passed away, so we're dealing with that. However, Sterling House has worked out well. The value is a bit tricky to judge, but compared to other places I've looked at, the prices seem fair. I've had a couple of concerns about the night shift, which I've talked to the nursing director about, and those have been addressed. The activities director, Julie, is really amazing when it comes to involving my mom and keeping her engaged. Mom attends the video exercises every morning, Monday through Friday, and she's even been to a couple of birthday parties, although it's a bit challenging.

3/5.00 Published 11 years ago

"Good Staff, But Not Suitable for High-Functioning Individuals"

The staff here are really nice and caring. However, I don't think my mom would be compatible here because she is doing quite well and most of the folks seem to be sleeping and so on. I didn't notice anyone who's similar to her. Also, they don't have many outings.

"Very Good Community"

We visited this community and loved it. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They have lots of amenities and fun activities for residents. Overall, it’s a great place. We would have chosen it, but there’s another Sterling House even closer to our home that’s just as impressive.

"Conveniently Located Assisted Living Near North Hills Hospital"

We picked Sterling House because it's close for us. It's one of the nicer places around here. It's near North Hills Hospital, so it's easy to reach. We really like Sterling House and think others would too.

"Senior Living Facility Tour Reveals Pros and Cons"

I spoke with Beverly Roberts to arrange a visit. She clarified that Medicare covers health care, not housing costs. The facility seemed nice overall, but there was a noticeable old folks' smell in the lobby. On the bright side, many seniors were happily engaged in activities like singing. However, I had concerns about the potential for high personal care expenses over time. During my visit, I noticed an employee smoking outside, which was a bit off-putting. Additionally, the attending nurse was away for mandatory training. On the positive side, Barbara was very kind and honest. It's worth noting that there isn't a Medicaid transition option available when funds run out. There are plenty of activities both on-site and off-site, which is great. Plus, if needed, there's the option to transition to extreme care at the adjacent facility, which is part of a larger organization with many locations. However, there's a $500 deposit required for priority placement, with an expected unit available within 30 days, although smaller units seem unavailable at the moment, with the mid-size unit costing $3095.

"No Openings, Cost Inquiry, and Medication Management"

I heard the director say this place has no openings. I want to find out if any will become available soon and how much it would cost for Dad if Mom was at Clare Bridge and he stayed here. These two places are right next to each other. I also need to check if having Dad here would allow me to handle his medications and save on the medication management fee.

"Renovated after flood. Nice bathrooms. Good size rooms. Convenient outings. Strict access."

This place is really nice. They fixed it up because of a flood. I like how they set up the shower in the bathroom. The rooms come in different sizes, which is good for us. They also take us on trips to Walmart and CVS, which is handy. But I don't like that only employees can go everywhere. Overall, the bathroom is great.
