"Great care, poor executive communication"

The caregiving staff here is very good. They take great care of people and seem to really care. The meals are good, no complaints. The housekeeping staff is wonderful and always goes above and beyond. The facility is clean and has a lot of great activities. It's a great place for someone who needs minor care like medication oversight and a safe place to be. But, the executive staff is hard to deal with. They aren't good at communication and don't seem to talk well with the floor staff. I can't recommend this place based on the executive staff.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

This place had some issues. At first, they tried to make me pay for things I didn't agree to. The boss even said most people don't bother reading the rules. They charged me more than they said they would, and wouldn't explain why. It took a lot of arguing to get my money back. But, on the bright side, the staff took good care of my dad during the day.

"Cozy Home-Like Facility with Roomy Apartments Needs Improved Care"

This place feels like a cozy home, smaller than others. The apartments are nice and bigger than most. The food is tasty, and my loved one gained weight. But, the care here suits those who can speak up for themselves or have someone to help them. Otherwise, it's lacking.

"Warm staff, good COVID safety, needs better updates."

The staff seems warm and accommodating, and they are engaged with the residents. My loved one is very content with the community. However, communication could be better, and I would like more updates on my loved one. They have managed COVID well and kept the residents safe. I would recommend this community to others.

"Great assisted living with informative tour and abundant activities."

The tour provided helpful information, and the facility has spacious rooms, large dining areas, activity rooms, and a garden area for residents to tend if they'd like. Plus, there are plenty of scheduled activities.

"Brookdale: Costs Skyrocket for Unfair Treatment and Unethical Operations"

After my mom got approved to live at Brookdale, and we had already paid over $5000, they kicked her out in the middle of the night just because of a non-emergency issue. They chose a hospital for her to go to, and that's where she had to stay for the next month. The reason Brookdale wouldn't let her come back was because of a minor skin sore. They said they couldn't take care of her with this problem. The hospital where she was staying treated her badly, so after a month we moved her to a different care home since Brookdale still wouldn't let her return. The weird thing is, even though she wasn't living at Brookdale, they kept reassessing her and charging us extra - more than $1600 a month. We didn't want to pay any of these costs since we knew they couldn't be right, but Brookdale kept billing us. Eventually they sent the bills to a debt collector and we had to pay to avoid being sued. My mom was only at Brookdale for 5 days and we ended up losing nearly $14000. In my view, this place has totally crossed the line and acts like a criminal gang. I would advise everyone to steer clear no matter what.

"Not quite what we needed."

This place was big and clean, but didn't fit our needs. It's a two-story building with an upstairs dining room. We required a type B facility for my 99-year-old dad, and it was pricier.

"Didn't Quite Fit"

his place was big and clean, and the staff answered my questions. But it didn't meet our needs because it was a two-story building with the dining room upstairs. We needed a different type of facility for my 99-year-old dad, and it was also more expensive.

"Great community, attentive staff, lots of activities, cozy environment."

This place is awesome! The people who work here are really nice. They always help out fast and pay close attention. Mom loves it here. They have tons of fun stuff to do, and they tell us what's happening every week. Everyone here is friendly, and the apartments are really nice. It's not too big, which is cool. I totally think you should check it out!

"A Tour of Friendly Amenities"

When we visited this community, it looked well-maintained. The people we met were friendly, and they seemed to have some nice amenities. However, the apartments didn't have a full kitchen, which made us unsure if our loved one would like it.

"Nice Place, Friendly People"

I visited a lot of places, including Brookdale Round Rock. I had a good time there. Everybody was really nice. The place was clean and looked after. I couldn't find anything bad about it.

"Outstanding care and beautiful community for loved ones"

This is an outstanding community with excellent care. The staff are friendly and keep us updated on his progress. The community is beautiful and very clean. They offer a lot of great activities that he enjoys. We’re glad he’s well taken care of here and recommend this community for both its care and value.

"Communication Needs Improvement in Assisted Living Facility"

The staff here could communicate better. When we signed up, they said one thing about the services, but now they're saying another. We had a big talk about what benefits my loved one could get, but now they're saying no. We're having to go through an appeal. They're giving the care needed, but they didn't do the paperwork for insurance. The food's good, and the place stays clean.

"Assisted Living Needs Better Communication, but Good Food and Cleanliness"

The folks working here could talk more clearly. When we joined, they said one thing about their help and benefits, but now they're saying something else. We had a long chat about what help we could get, but now they're saying no, and we have to argue about it. They're giving us what we need, but they didn't do the right paperwork for insurance. The food is tasty, and they keep the place neat.

"Deeply unsatisfied with the service at this facility!"

When I first visited this place, it looked inviting and the staff seemed professional. But my opinion changed dramatically once my mom moved in. The level of care she's receiving isn't up to mark and the round-the-clock help I was promised seems nonexistent. It's hard to believe they don’t even have a check-in system and my mom had to wait for three days to get her emergency call bracelet. The availability of nurses is another concern - they're only around sometimes on weekdays and they're absent at night and on weekends. I often find myself waiting for over an hour to find aid for my mom. I am in the process of getting my mom out of there.

"Very Caring and Clean Community"

We are very happy with this community and what they have done for us. My mom is doing great, and I'm glad she moved here. Everyone helps out around the community. They are always ready to assist with anything you need. The place is very clean and well-kept. There are lots of activities for the residents. She really likes the meals; the food is very good. I would definitely recommend this community. It is a very nice place.

"Consider a visit if you need basic care options"

This is a good community. The staff is excellent, but we needed more care than they could provide. I visited the restaurant, and it looked very nice and well-kept. However, they don’t offer the memory care services we needed, so it wouldn't be suitable for memory care. This place is better for residents who can handle some of their own needs. We recommend that families visit and see if this fits what they're looking for.

"Mixed Experience at Brookdale Assisted Living"

Overall, we've been pleased with the care my Mom gets at Brookdale. It did take a while for her rehab to begin due to some paperwork issues. The bill for her care was higher than expected, and the cost explanation during interviews wasn't clear.

"Stairs an Issue, Otherwise Friendly Community"

My visit to this place was pretty good. The only issue my mom had was with the stairs. She didn't feel very comfortable going up and down them. The tour was nice, and everyone was really nice and friendly. The staff I talked to were polite and told me a lot of helpful information. It seems like a nice place, just not the right one for my mom.

"Mixed Feelings about Brookdale Assisted Living and Memory Care"

The workers at this assisted living facility were very helpful and nice. We really liked the part of the building where assisted living happens. There are elevators, and they offer reminders and help with other things mom might need as her illness moves forward. This can add up in cost though as it gets worse. It was good to know we wouldn't have to put our names on our clothes. We're not sure how long mom could stay in assisted living because her health is in a tricky spot. The apartments and studios in assisted living were nice and had good views. The part of the building for people with memory problems seemed sad, but the people there seemed happy and relaxed. That area was pretty small though. If mom needs to be in that area, we didn't like that she might have to move to a different Brookdale place because the one on Cornerwood Drive was really small and didn't have many rooms available. We're still thinking about it, but we're not sure this is the perfect place for mom.

"Great choice for Mom!"

This place is my top choice in my search. The facility is clean and pleasant. The back porch feels like a family's backyard, and they have a nice sidewalk around the property. The apartments are spacious and reasonably priced. Plus, it's a Type A and B facility, so Mom can stay even if her health declines. We'll bring Mom to check out the food and get a feel for the place.

"Warm and Welcoming Community"

At Horizon Bay Austin, the community is small, making it easy for people to find their way around. The friendly and open atmosphere is a big positive, and I'm extremely satisfied. The staff is attentive to everyone's needs.

"I wish my mother could be here; everything is excellent."

I wish I could have my mother here. It’s very nice and clean, and the staff is very friendly. It deserves a five-star rating in every category.

"Great Assisted Living Experience Overall"

Horizon Bay Austin is a really nice assisted living facility. The staff are caring and helpful, but my mom's money went missing twice, and they never called me to discuss it.

"Not quite right: Mom needs a better facility"

I visited this place, but I don't think it's quite right for my parents. My mom needs something a bit better than an 'A' rated facility, she really requires a 'B' rated one at the least.

"We are very happy to be here."

This place is great! It's clean, and the management is attentive. Chef Annie is wonderful.

"Very satisfied"

They explain everything well during orientation. The place is nice, with friendly people. I'm very happy with my experience at Horizon Bay Austin.

"Totally satisfied with the care and attention here!"

We are really pleased with this place. It’s super clean, and the staff is really friendly. Everyone here is nice and caring. They always pay close attention and are always around if needed. The food is her favorite part; she loves the meals. Everything is great, and as long as she’s happy, that’s all that matters to me.

"Limited Outdoor Space Felt Less Open"

Our second pick during our search. Dad chose against it due to limited outdoor space. It felt less open, lacking gardens.

""Unfulfilled Promises and Privacy Issues at Horizon Bay Austin""

Our Time at Horizon Bay Austin was Unsettling" There have been some pretty big problems at Horizon Bay in Austin from what we've experienced. Two stand out the most. First, we ran into some problems concerning details about the room that were promised but weren't delivered as we expected. Second, controlling medications also turned out to be an issue for us. Communication seems off, causing plenty of misunderstandings and mix-ups. We didn't get some of the things we were told to expect. Mom has to deal with room checks every night, which leaves her feeling like she lacks personal space. All these problems have led to my mom deciding to move out soon.

"Top-Notch Care and Comfort at Horizon Bay Assisted Living!"

The nurses, caregivers, and staff at Horizon Bay are super nice and really good at what they do. Whenever my mom needed help, they were quick to lend a hand. The things to do there were fun, and the rooms were big and pretty. I loved the closets—they were so big! The building itself is fancy and new, and the part where the people live feels cozy like home. We liked it a lot and think other people would too!

"Wonderful Place for My Father-in-Law, Friendly Staff"

Horizon Bay is really clean, bright, and friendly. My father-in-law seems to be getting comfortable here. The staff always has a smile and is ready to help with anything. We'll see how things go over time.

"Decent Facility, but Problems with Billing and Cold Food"

This place was decent, but they had some problems. They ordered medicines for my mom and then made us pay for them. We told them to stop, but they wouldn't listen, even when we moved my mom out. I didn't like that. I'm not sure if they were making extra money from this, but it's really wrong. Also, my mom often complained about the meals always being cold. They also weren't very helpful with getting the insurance sorted out.

"Caring Community"

They're in a great spot for our family. Mom found the perfect care here. They handle things well and include you.

"Paid a Visit. Comfortable One-Bedroom, Small Studio, Tucked Away Location."

I stopped by. The one-bedroom is pleasantly spacious. However, the studio is pretty cramped. Its location feels somewhat secluded.

"A Bit Stiff, But Nice Overall"

A good place, but feels a bit rigid.

"Comfortable Living Spaces, Friendly Staff: A Pleasant Assisted Living Experience"

I had a good tour of the place. The rooms were set up in pods, which I liked. The staff was really nice and helpful.

"Peaceful Assisted Living: Clean, Quiet, and Activities Galore"

This place is really nice and clean, and it's super quiet too. They only offer assistance and memory care. It's about 3 miles away from Trinity Care Nursing in Roundrock. They accept Medicare and another insurance plan just in case. Plus, they have lots of activities to keep you entertained.

"Liked everything, though it was tiny and lacked a real kitchen"

Enjoyed it all except it was a bit cramped with no authentic kitchen.

"Assisted Living: Mini Kitchen, 24/7 Emergency Staff"

The apartments come with a small kitchen and provide three meals a day. They offer additional care options within the apartment section, and residents receive a 'life alert' medallion. Staff is available around the clock for emergencies.
