"Clean, Caring, and Improving"

The place is clean, safe, and well-kept. The staff is friendly and very caring. The residents are mostly welcoming and somewhat active. There are chances to do arts and crafts, play games like bingo and Uno, and watch movies together. With different care options, residents can get the help they need while staying independent. Honestly, the food needed improvement for most of the last 18 months. But, it has gotten a lot better in the last 60 days.

"Room Cleanliness and Response Time Need Improvement, Otherwise Recommendable Facility"

The place is pretty nice, but they gotta tidy up the rooms better and be faster when someone needs help. Overall, I'd say it's a good spot to consider.

"Caring Staff and Engaging Activities"

The staff here take excellent care of you. They listen when you're having a tough day. I really appreciate, the RCC; she's great at hearing our problems and helping with any questions. Plus, they encourage us to participate in various activities, which are always different.

"Caring Staff and Quick Repairs"

I wanted my cabinets fixed a bit faster, but did an excellent job repairing my TV quickly. Overall, they treated me kindly and were helpful. The staff here is understanding, attentive, and generous.

"Wonderful Place with Caring Staff and Great Activities"

I can't say enough good things about Brookdale Shavano Park Senior Living. I volunteer there and spend most of my time with the residents during activities like Bingo and exercises. I mainly work with [Removed], the Activity Director, who is amazing with people. The residents and volunteers all love him because he’s fun, supportive, patient, and kind. Brookdale Shavano Park is well-managed, clean, and friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a safe, friendly environment with excellent care.

"Warm and Welcoming with Great Activities and Care"

This place has a super friendly vibe, with lots of fun activities and plenty of love for everyone living there. They make it easy for doctor visits and shopping trips too. There’s a nice, pretty hair salon for both moms and dads with flexible appointment times. Check it out, and you'll see why it’s so great!

"Tour Reveals Unhappy Residents, Poor Maintenance"

As soon as we entered this facility, we noticed an unpleasant smell. The seniors didn't seem pleased. It's a pretty dated place, and the memory care section looked poorly maintained. However, everyone we encountered was friendly.

"“Mom’s Enjoyable Tour”"

My mom visited a few communities, and she liked the tour here. The director was friendly, and the location was important. Although it wasn’t close to our home, she had to make a choice. I also appreciated working with Dana from A Place For Mom; she did an excellent job.

"Disappointed with Facility: No Match for Mom's Needs"

This memory care facility doesn't fit our needs since the existing residents aren't as high-functioning as our mother, plus they don't have any available private rooms.

"Brookdale Shavano Park - Friendly and caring"

My 92-year-old uncle moved from St. Louis to San Antonio in October 2015. I looked into several assisted living and skilled nursing facilities. The admin team and staff at Brookdale were friendly, caring, and professional. The facility is small, so everyone gets to know each other. There are lots of activities, even on weekends, and the Activities Coordinator is fantastic! My uncle says the food is good and he likes having multiple areas to use outside his apartment. The facility is in a nice residential area, just five minutes from my house. Overall, my family and I are very pleased. Brookdale Shavano Park genuinely cares about my uncle and our family.

"Friendly staff, but handling issues poorly; clean property."

Some of the staff are friendly, but they aren't handling the situation correctly. They call me a lot even though we pay them a lot of money to handle the situation. But overall, the property is nice and clean inside and out. I would rate it 4 stars based on its appearance, but my dad is having a lot of issues.

"Great Assisted Living Facility with Friendly Staff and Spacious Rooms"

This place is a top choice if you need to move from regular living to memory care. The staff are super friendly, know their stuff, and made me feel at ease right away. The rooms are larger compared to other places I've seen. The people living there seem really happy and relaxed. The main three floors are big and have a bright, open feel. The atmosphere is calm. The memory care part is in a separate, nicely designed building that doesn’t feel cramped. It also has an open layout with lots of space to walk around without feeling like you’re going in circles. I loved everything about this place!!

"Mixed feelings on Homewood Residence; great staff, mediocre food."

We're pretty happy with Homewood Residence! The people who work there are really nice and helpful, and they're good at fixing things when we need help. They also have lots of things to do, which is cool. The only thing we don't like is the food. It's not very good most of the time, but they're trying to make it better.

"Good place, needs more staff despite great care and location."

They're currently doing renovations, so it's a bit of a mess. Some cleaning areas could be better. On the bright side, they do a great job with activities and encourage him to join in. However, sometimes the food doesn't taste very good. I also wish there were more staff available. The ones who are there are working very hard, but there aren't enough of them for everyone’s needs, and they're adding more residents without adding more staff. We chose this place because it’s in a great location for us, and the staff is very kind to my dad, but they need more help.

"Great Care in a Clean Home"

They really take care of things well here! The people who work here are nice and do their jobs well. They make sure everyone is taken care of. The place is neat and tidy too.

"Clean and Nice Looking, But Not Much Room for Socializing"

The downstairs area didn't have much space for folks to hang out. There wasn't a spot for good, easy walking. Everyone was just sitting on the porch for fresh air. If his condition gets worse, we'd have to find a new place for him. The dining room doors were closed except for meal times, so people would just gather outside the doors like they did on the porch. But on the outside, it looked clean and pretty nice.

"Homewood Assisted Living: Convenient, Engaging, Reasonable Option"

Homewood Assisted Living offers Bingo, exercises, and outings. During our visit, the food was bland with limited options. However, staff are attentive, aiding residents in the morning and keeping them engaged. Convenient location for families, with reasonable pricing. We'd recommend it.

"The Alcove: Great size, knowledgeable staff, security concerns unexpected"

The Alcove is lovely and just the right size, with very competent staff members. We're concerned about my stepdad wandering off. We were also interested in seeing Clare Bridge, but didn't get to.
