"Memory Care Facility Needs Improved Personal Hygiene Care"
My mom's in memory care, and I feel like the staff doesn't always help her with her personal hygiene. I've had to make sure she gets showers most of the time. It'd be helpful if they kept a log of when she showers, eats, and does activities. Our family doesn't have a clear idea of how she's being cared for, and she can't communicate it to us. The place itself is well-kept, and the food is tasty.

"Food Needs Improvement at Clayton Oaks Living"
From our experience at Clayton Oaks Living, the food needs improvement. Although they’re short-staffed, most caregivers are nice.

"Out of Touch Director Neglects Safety: Loved One Hospitalized"
I thought the director didn’t understand us, even after we met twice. It seemed like all they cared about was money. The director acted really arrogant, didn’t show any care, and was rude. Our loved one fell four times, and they had to go to the hospital.

"Attentive Staff and Smooth Transitions at Grand Assisted Living Community"
When you step inside this place, it feels really big and nice. It's very welcoming. Sometimes we worry about the people who work here and how many of them leave and how they don't have enough staff, but they pay good attention to our loved one. They helped them move from a regular apartment to a memory care unit, and we were glad for that.

"Pleasant Facade, Unpleasant Staff"
The building and furniture look nice, but the staff act rude and snobbish. They’re not friendly at all. When family is around, they pretend to be nice, but watch out for how they treat residents when they think no one’s looking.

"Assisted Living Facility Review: Mixed Experience Amid COVID Crisis"
Before COVID, my mom liked it here. But when COVID came, everything changed. Mom caught it while she was here. They said she didn't get it here, but she hadn't left for doctor visits, so she must have. When she went to the hospital the second time, we found out she had no glasses, hearing aids, or dentures. They sent her without them, and claimed they didn't know where they were. Overall, Clayton Oaks wasn't the best for us.

"Adequate Assisted Living, Basic Memory Care"
My loved one started off in assisted living and moved to memory care after about 5 years. All the ratings are combined for both the assisted and memory care units. If your loved one is going in under assisted living and can function on their own, you won’t have an issue with this community. The community says they have memory care assistance, but it’s basic. If your loved one needs help with daily living activities, I wouldn’t rate this community very high. They aren’t set up to offer more advanced memory care assistance. You can bring in your own staff, but it will cost extra.

"Clayton Oaks: Unqualified Staff, Neglect and Constant Issues"
You shouldn't be lured by the pleasing appearance of this place or the persuasive salesperson eager for you to join. It would be a terrible mistake to entrust your dear one here; it will lead to sorrow. We imagined it being a secure haven for our mom, it's not! They lack enough workers and deal with frequent staff changes, leading to long waiting times for residents in need of caregivers' assistance. Their attention call system is practically futile and fails regularly. Medicine mishaps are an everyday scene at Clayton Oaks. They permit unskilled workers to hand out medication, resulting from their minimal trained workforce. In the memory care section, residents are either left to watch TV for prolonged periods or neglected in beds with filthy clothing and missed meals. It appears to be more convenient for the staff to ignore them. There's no trace of compassion from the care workers. Various residents have suffered fall-related injuries, with some even breaking bones. Distressed family members who have installed cameras in rooms have been forced to observe their parents' neglect remotely. Clayton Oaks experienced a significant COVID outbreak, with over nine residents and numerous staff confirming positive. I advise against choosing this place for anyone. Your parent's health will deteriorate rapidly if admitted here. I write this review in hopes of discouraging at least one person from making this mistake.

"Convenient Amenities, Some Noise Concerns"
This place is nice. It's close to the freeway, which is not good for us. When we visited, there weren't many people living there. They can adjust the rooms according to what you need, which is a good thing.

"Clayton Oaks: Nice Looks, Terrible Care and Management"
My mom spent the past 6 months at Clayton Oaks assisted living. It was such a letdown right from the first week. The system they had for calling for assistance was not dependable, leaving my mom without help a lot. Regularly, she had to wait over an hour for assistance. Despite numerous complaints, the people in charge didn't fix these issues. I called the management company for help multiple times, but they just told me to talk to the staff there. For the past 6 years, I've helped care for my parents and in-laws at different assisted living places around town. None of them had the same issues as Clayton Oaks. If I listed all the problems there each day, this review would be super long. The facility looks nice, but they don't have a dependable system. They ignored all my suggestions. I strongly recommend that, if you have a loved one there, you be there every day to make sure they're okay. I wouldn't suggest Clayton Oaks to anyone!

"Enormous Letdown at Clayton Oaks Assisted Living Facility"
My mom stayed at Clayton Oaks for over half a year and it was a major letdown from the get-go. The call buttons, which are supposed to be for emergencies, didn't work most of the time, leaving my mom without a way to ask for help. She was often left to wait for more than an hour before getting the assistance she needed. And the folks in charge? They didn't do a thing despite my many complaints about the place. I had to call the company that manages the place several times, and every time they just told me to talk to the staff at Clayton Oaks directly. This wasn't my first rodeo, I've been responsible for both my parents and my in-laws for the past six years and have dealt with various centers around the city. But I've never seen troubles like I did at Clayton Oaks. There were problems every single day that I could go on and on about. Sure, the facility looks nice, but that's about it. They lack a dependable system, and they brushed off every suggestion I offered to improve things. If I could give some advice, plan to keep a constant eye on your loved ones if they're staying here. I wouldn't recommend Clayton Oaks, now or ever.

Disappointed
"Misgivings Over Care at Assisted Living Facility"
Our father resided there for more than a year. We initially thought, given that it was a new establishment, it would be the best choice due to its cleanliness and appealing environment. However, our opinion was sadly short-lived. The Memory Care unit fell short in maintaining the cleanliness, the persistent odor of urine was hard to ignore. As time passed, we also observed a high turnover of the competent staff. With chronic understaffing and a majority of ill-equipped caregivers who were either habitually indolent or constantly occupied with their mobile phones, the situation went from bad to worse. Instances of caregivers pilfering from the residents, leaving them unsupervised in restrooms and exhibiting an overall lackadaisical attitude towards their needs raised questions about the safety measures. Our father repeatedly suffered from urinary tract infections due to inadequate hygiene maintenance. There's more to our dissatisfaction that one review can cover. We strongly detest the idea of anyone placing their loved ones in their care.

"Lacking Proper Training and Respect"
There's not a single trained staff member who knows how to deal with people with Memory Care, dementia, or Alzheimer's disease at this place! They have absolutely no respect or kindness towards our old folks! It's truly heart-wrenching. They keep making mistakes with the medications, which could cause severe harm. Be careful, please.

"Neglect Rampant in Glittering Facility"
This place has really slipped under their new owners! They put on a show to lure us in. Once my 92-year-old mom was there, they stopped caring! There were multiple mistakes with medications and poor consistency. This could be dangerous. Older people sit around in dirty diapers. They focus more on looking rich and fancy than actually caring for our parents we trusted them with. No proper education or urgency. We have to move mom out. Every time you move someone with Alzheimer's, it hurts them more. This is heart-wrenching for us.

"Dismal Care, Mismanagement at Clayton Oaks Facility"
Terrible Choice! We had to make a heartbreaking decision to move our 91-year-old mom into this home. They seduce you with good promises but all we needed was a secure, respectful place where mom wouldn't be scared. Medication mistakes are too common at Clayton Oaks. The way they hand out medicines is unreliable at most. The residents are not treated kindly or respectfully. They're often left in dirty diapers. This facility knows nothing about taking care of Alzheimer's and dementia patients. They're more focused on flaunting their swanky assisted living areas instead of providing safe and structured patient care. Thank God we found another place for mom after 5 months. But sadly, whenever you move a patient with Alzheimer's, their condition gets a bit worse. This is a horrible situation that neither our family nor our mom should have to go through. Heartbreaking.

"Clayton Oaks: Pretentious Facade Hides Sub-par Care"
At first, we thought we had picked the perfect place for our lovely 92-year-old mom. This place made a great first impression. But after a while, we realized that behind the fancy facade were serious issues. Medical mistakes and inconsistent medication routines were common. The director only offers excuses and doesn't support his staff or give them what they need to provide good care for the residents. Here, it's more about looking good than showing kindness and respect to the residents. We were all in for Clayton Oaks after a month, but after five months, we have to move mom. Moving someone with Alzheimer's can be hard and it can make things worse for them. It's sad that we have to do this just to keep mom healthy.

"Warning! Poor Care and Mismanagement at Assisted Living Facility"
Don't be tricked by how pretty the building looks! Inside, you'll see the problems of greed and a director who doesn't care. Specifically, how they manage the Med Techs and their very high quitting rate is a serious issue that could cost lives. He just talks and talks and our family members suffer a lot. Instead of hiring trained Med Techs, the guy emptying the trash today could be giving important medicine to your loved one tomorrow. Obviously, these untrained cleaners pretending to be "med techs" will make big mistakes that will impact your loved one's health. NO STARS, even though I had to give one to post this warning! BE CAREFUL!

"Assisted Living Facility No Longer Fits Our Needs"

"Great Place, Could Use More Staff"
This assisted living place is really good, but I feel like they need more people working here. They said there would be one staff member for every four residents, but it looks more like one for every six. Still, the folks who work here know their stuff and are super nice.

"Amazing care and support!"
We moved my sister to Clayton Oaks from another place, and I'm so glad we did. Now I can visit her often and help out. Clayton Oaks even sent a bus to pick her up and a van to move her furniture for free, which was a huge help. This place is amazing! They take great care of her. She isn't really into games, but they have activities she joins sometimes. She really likes the food here.

"Great Care and Communication Highly Recommended Assisted Living"
I'm really happy with this place. Maintenance and billing are great. I'm very impressed with how they care for the residents and handle memory care. He’s really happy there he hasn’t asked to go home and always smiles at the staff. They keep me updated on everything happening at home and are very proactive about his care. I would definitely recommend this place to others. They always follow through on any requests I make.
