Colonial Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care in Pearland

"Lacks quality, limited activities, stagnant van."
The place is usually clean, but sometimes not. The food quality is disappointing—cold and stale. Feels like we're paying for premium service but getting average care. Activities are scarce, and the van never leaves its parking spot in 3 months.

"Wonderful Staff and Fantastic Tour!"
We visited The Reserve at Pearland while looking for a place for my mom. The staff there was amazing, and our tour was fantastic!

"Caregivers Shine, Upstairs Heat!"
The caregivers at the assisted living facility are amazing, but they're often overworked due to understaffing. Downstairs, where the expensive units are, is comfortable. However, upstairs in the low-rent district, it's scorching hot in the hallways and seniors' apartments. Remember to check out the upper floors during your tour!

"Not Ideal for Our Loved One"
Our family took an in-person tour, and it was pleasant. However, based on what we saw, we realized this wouldn't be the best place for our loved one.

"Disappointing Assisted Living Tour Experience"
I didn't like the place when we visited. The guides were friendly. It seemed like the people living there weren't very involved, which worried us for our family. It was also warm inside during the tour, and they were using fans to try to cool it down.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
This is our first time in assisted living, so we can't compare much. We've had good and bad times getting used to it. The food isn't great, me and my family don't like it much. The workers are really nice, everyone is friendly, but sometimes it takes a while to get what you need. Sometimes it gets better, then it gets worse again.

"Assisted Living Review"
I'm really disappointed with how they're taking care of my mom at this place. The staff is super friendly, but we've had issues since day one. Plus, they sold the facility to a new owner, which was another big change. I'm thinking about bringing Mom home in the next few months. When I visited her, I noticed her bottom was red, and she's getting bed sores. I made a list of 10 things for the attendants to check in her room, but I haven't seen them do it. They're supposed to take her to the dining area for every meal, but it only happens about half the time. Assisted living should mean real help, especially since we're paying extra. I recommend asking lots of questions and visiting at different times.

"Mixed Feelings, but Overall Satisfied"
No place is perfect. Remember, it takes time for your loved one to get to know the staff, and for the staff to get to know them, especially because my parents have trouble hearing. But now, everyone is doing well. Overall, I'm pretty happy. We really like the place. The dining area is fancy, and we especially enjoy the private dining area families can reserve. There are lots of activities too. It's great they have someone who understands hearing impairment on staff and accommodations for it. Our caregiver helped train the staff to meet my parents' needs, which I appreciate. I'm glad they have a private bathroom and allow us to have a camera in their apartment. It's well-lit, with plenty going on, and staff are there all the time. My mom feels comfortable leaving my dad briefly to do activities in the building. Some things could be better, like how they communicate internally and externally, and how consistently they answer call buttons. We've also had some issues with Wi-Fi - it's very hit or miss.

"Dismal Care and COVID Outbreaks at This Assisted Living Facility"
If you truly care for your family members, I implore you not to place them in this residence. The level of care, or rather, the lack of it, from the management and staff is distressing. When residents press their call-buttons, no one shows up to help. The lack of attention was so bad, that my dear one caught COVID-19 on-site. She was not infected before entering this establishment.

"Clean, Active, Helpful Assisted Living with On-Site Amenities"
While my family member stayed here, I saw many good things. The staff keeps the place clean. I think they take out the trash every day because I never saw it overflowing. They also have lots of activities, like games and puzzles. They even have a movie area and a beauty salon where tenants can get their hair done. The staff is smart and helpful. When my family member needed more care than they could provide, they helped me find a new place for her. Overall, I would tell others to consider this place.

"A Trainer’s Top Pick for Senior Care"
From the moment I walked into Colonial Oaks At Pearland, I was impressed by how professional the whole staff was. They interacted with the residents in such a caring and genuine way. It was clear that this level of care was consistent throughout the entire facility. If I needed to recommend a place for my loved ones to be cared for, I wouldn't look anywhere else but Colonial Oaks.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
This place sometimes doesn't have enough helpers. Mom needs help walking to the bathroom and waits too long when they're short on staff. They say they have wi-fi, but it's been out since Mom moved in. It's a big problem because Mom can't hear well on the phone, and the closed captioning needs wi-fi. We've asked them to fix it, but no luck. The food tastes great. They make sure residents get to meals and activities, and they help with doctor's appointments, which is helpful for the family.

The executive team is really helpful. They make sure everyone's needs are taken care of and always try to do more than expected. We really like it here and think others should come visit too. When it comes to activities, Colonial Oaks at Pearland in Pearland, Texas deserves five stars.

"Great Care and Comfort at Colonial Oaks Pearland"
In the spring of 2014, my dad moved to Colonial Oaks Pearland. From the moment we first visited, the staff was welcoming and helpful. My dad is happy with his living space, the staff, the food, and the overall environment. I'm also pleased with the health care, the staff's friendliness, the location, cleanliness, and the peace of mind it gives me. Any initial problems were quickly resolved, which is normal with such a big change. The daily cost for all these services is very fair.

"Memory Care Needs Not Met, But Still Great Overall"
They didn't help with memory care problems. This place has people who are in the early stages of the disease, so it was my second choice. If they could have helped with memory care, it would have been a better choice for us. I’d still rate them highly overall.

"Colonial Oaks: A Troublesome and Disheartening Experience"
My parents had a dreadful experience at Colonial Oaks. Yep, it may seem appealing at first. They make a pretty convincing pitch about everything they have to offer. But once my parents moved in, things went south real quick. They couldn't even provide me with a copy of our signed agreement even after asking for it countless times. They also recommended using OmniCare for medications but messed up by failing to transfer Medicare and AARP information. I'm still trying to decipher how much we owe and how much the insurance has already contributed. They screwed up the medication orders which caused serious problems with my mom. When they started dispensing too much medication, they unjustly increased my monthly payments, yet failed to deliver any kind of a written agreement or explanation. I'm still unsure of the long-term health aftermath this could cause my mom. Lisa Gilles-Petruna, the director, treated my parents poorly and barred them from participating in bus trips or eating in the dining room. The staff utterly neglected cleaning their bathroom, room, or kitchen area. I had to come around once a week and clean for them. When I submitted our termination of contract to Colonial Oaks, it took a good few emails to come to an agreement about the final payment. Lisa promised to deliver the care plan, medications, and final bill when I moved my parents out. All I received was a garbage bag full of medications. Colonial Oaks completely ignored my requests and after a month of radio silence, I got a call from their collection agency. After all the initial collection calls, we finally determined the final payment. Absolutely, under no circumstances, would I suggest trusting Colonial Oaks.

"Colonial Oaks/Pearland Shines Brightly"
I looked at five assisted living places, and Colonial Oaks/Pearland was my favorite. It's bright and open, and the staff is really nice and helpful. I feel good about it. My sister hasn't moved in yet, so I can't say much about that part. But the staff has been great in helping me and my family get everything ready for her move.

"Too far for what we need now"
I knew the price wouldn't be right for us. I had a friend who stayed there, but it was just too far from my other brother. It's a really nice place though, with great upkeep and dining.

"Great Care and Value Despite Initial Issues"
We haven’t had any issues recently, but when we first moved in, we were promised new carpet that never got installed. The kitchen and bathroom were dirty at first, but we reported it and they cleaned everything up the next day. It costs a bit more than some other places, but the high quality of care, the nice environment, and the great location make it worth it. They have daily activities like bingo and exercise, and my father-in-law enjoys doing puzzles. Although it’s not exactly like home and there was some homesickness at the start, they’re really making an effort. My mother-in-law is mostly in a wheelchair, but this place has given my father-in-law a huge relief because there are people who can care for her.

"Two-Story Assisted Living"
It was really nice! The assisted living facility had two stories, which was one of the downsides. The staff was a bit more attentive at the other Colonial Oaks we visited. Unfortunately, it was too far from where my sister-in-law lives.
