"Nice community, but not the right fit for loved one"

This place was nice, but it wasn't right for my loved one.

"Assisted living facility declined in care quality; management issues evident."

My folks started living at Dancing River five years ago. I wrote a 5-star review two years ago, but check the date. Everything was great until new bosses came in 2021. The caregivers still there are amazing, but they have too much to do because many staff left in the past 9 months. We paid for the highest care level for my dad. Last month when I visited, his room was dirty, laundry piled up (should be done daily), his room smelled bad, and there were messes in the bathroom. He felt sad and stopped joining activities. I talked to [name removed] (in charge) about it. Sadly, my dad died before we could move him. His friends were leaving too for the same reasons.

"Assisted Living Disappoints: Staff Turnover and Medication Errors"

My mom stayed there for almost two years, but it wasn't great because the staff kept changing all the time. She was lucky to have a few caregivers who had been there for a while and were really good, but because there weren't enough staff, they got tired out. Sadly, we had to move her out recently because they made mistakes with her medicine and the people in charge weren't around enough to take responsibility. It was really stressful for my mom to have to move, but we had to do it to make sure she was safe and okay.

"Mixed Feelings on Assisted Living Facility"

Make sure to put a camera in the room. It lets the family watch their loved one when they can't be there. The main issue is the food. It's not tasty. Breakfast is okay, but lunch and dinner are always the same. We picked this place because they had space, and it seemed better than the rest I saw. But I wouldn't tell other families to choose this place.

"Dissatisfied With Dancing River Assisted Living's Delayed Response Times"

In the first week of my mom’s move to Dancing River, she woke up around 7:00 am and accidentally slipped from her bed. As she requires aid to get up, she fell and hurt herself pretty badly. She used her alert pendant provided by the facility while she was injured and bleeding. When Dancing River called me, I asked for how long it took them to aid my mom. They weren't sure. My mom had severe grazes on her limbs from the fall and said it took Dancing River staff quite some time to assist her. When I asked the Nurse and Director about the response time, they said it took a whole 14 minutes to reach my mother while she was laying on the floor in her own blood. This is totally not okay! The acting Director wasn’t very helpful and simply said they hoped it wouldn't happen again. I must admit, the Nurse was really good with my mom, but she can't do everything herself. So, we decided to move my mom to a different assisted living facility within a week. It took three weeks to get the bill settled with Dancing River. I'd recommend Dancing River only if you don't mind your loved one lying on the floor hurt and waiting for help for over 10 minutes. If you really care for your family, consider other choices.

"Small, nice place with a big kitchen and great courtyard"

I really like this place. It’s small and simple with nice people. The kitchen is bigger than most, which is important to Mom. There’s also a great courtyard in the center.

"Could use a facelift"

Dancing River Assisted Living was decent and tidy. It seemed a bit old-fashioned and needed a makeover to look more attractive. The employees were nice and carried out their jobs well. We picked a different place that fit our requirements more closely.

"Enjoyed tour, top choice if needed, slightly pricey."

The community's nice, great tour. Top choice if needed.

"They Were Too Far For Me"

I figured out that after visiting the community, touring so many places can be overwhelming. When looking for a good community, the location became a crucial factor. Unfortunately, this community was 10 miles away and wouldn't be convenient to visit throughout the week. However, the tour experience was excellent.

"Great Care and Activities for Loved Ones"

I really like the care here. The staff is amazing, and they always let me know about any changes in his progress. The menu has a great variety of healthy meals. I also appreciate that he has the chance to join in activities with other residents. We definitely recommend this place to other families for its excellent care and overall value.

"Poor Appearance, Small Room, Not For Mom"

I wasn't really won over by my visit to this place. The overall look of the place wasn't great. They could seriously step up their game when it comes to keeping the place clean. They're currently switching to a new director and that just didn't sit right with me. The room they showed me wasn't big at all. I figured out from my visit that my mother wouldn't fit in this place.

"Friendly Staff and Beautiful Courtyard Make This Place Shine!"

From my first visit until Mom moved in, everyone was really friendly! You can tell the staff loves their jobs and this place. The food service and maintenance teams are always helpful and kind. The facility is clean and bright! Mom loves the courtyard with the waterfalls and even a family of ducks! I’d rate this place 150 out of 100!!!

"Great Tour and Safe, Clean Facility!"

The tour guide was really friendly and paid close attention. They showed us around the community, including the library, cafe, and outdoor garden. I thought the place was beautiful and very clean. The staff were nice, and most importantly, it had great safety features.

"Affable Staff; Interior Nice, But Landscaping Lacking"

The first thing you see about this place is that they could really use some work on their outdoor area. Once we got inside, everything looked neat and tidy. The people working there were all really nice and helpful. The person showing us around knew what they were talking about and was very nice about it. Still, they've got to put some more effort into sprucing up outside. The inside's alright, but it's just not the right fit for us.

"Amazing Care and Beautiful Courtyard!"

The staff are doing a great job taking care of my mother-in-law. They always let us know about her care needs. The place is super clean and well-organized. My mother-in-law loves the different food choices. They also have a lovely courtyard with a fountain that flows into a river.

"Caring Staff, Unseen Management"

My mom lives in a place where she gets help and special care for her memory. The people who look after her every day are really great and kind. But the bosses, like the new head who’s been there for half a year, are hard to find. This new boss is hardly ever around where my mom is. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the amazing daily caregivers, I would’ve taken my mom to a different place.

"Great Place for Dad's Next Chapter"

Our 90-year-old dad had been living in an Independent Living apartment for 14 years. As his health and mobility started to decline, we needed to find an Assisted Living facility. Dancing River was recommended by A Place for Mom. We liked Dancing River because it was similar to his old apartment but smaller. The location was perfect for us to visit him every day. The staff and caretakers are very friendly. He’s only been at Dancing River for a couple of weeks, but so far, everything is going well!

"Dancing River: Not terrible, but improvement could be made"

My Dad recently moved into Dancing River, and it struck me strange that they don't have a friend system for newcomers to help them get used to things. I believe it would be really helpful. The home care agency that Dancing River uses is top-notch and they keep me in the loop, unlike the staff at the facility itself. We're still getting settled, but we're optimistic that it'll get easier with time.

"A Wonderful Visit"

I took a tour and they spent a lot of time with me. I never felt rushed and visited several times. They worked really hard to get us in. It was a great experience.

"Good care with room for improvement, overall satisfied with service"

Dancing River Assisted Living is pretty good. She is doing well and adjusting to the place. They generally do a good job. The food hasn't been great lately, but that might be because of a new chef. Overall, we’re satisfied. She thought she lost some jewelry, but a few pieces showed up, so I’m not sure what happened. It’s mostly good, and I would recommend it. There’s always room for improvement, but they’re doing a decent job.

"A wonderful, accommodating assisted living facility"

They are fantastic. The food was tasty; we tried it during our tour. We were planning to move our loved one here, but she passed away before we could. We had already moved in furniture, and they were very understanding, giving us extra time to remove it without charging us. We loved the room; it was great and modern with granite countertops. We wish we had found this place a year ago so she could have enjoyed it. We tell others about them and would definitely recommend them.

"Dancing River was great. Wendy was super helpful."

Dancing River was great. Wendy was super helpful. It was clean and nice, and I really liked it. There was some construction that made it hard to get to. In the end, Mom chose a place that was closer, but this was still a really nice option.

"Friendly and Helpful Staff"

I believe their marketing person, she, is awesome. She's really friendly and always ready to assist. The receptionists are also outstanding—exactly the kind of folks you'd want to greet you at the front door.

"Dancing River is the Best Choice"

When I was checking out assisted living places in Grapevine, I made a checklist and took notes on each one. Did it smell nice? Did the residents look happy? How was the staff and their interaction with the residents? What activities were available? Was there outdoor space (my mom loves sitting outside)? Dancing River was the only place that got an A+ and had everything we wanted and more. It really is a magical place. I moved my mom in a few months ago, and we couldn't be happier. Greg, the manager, is so kind and attentive. Moving mom out of her home was tough, and we waited too long to decide. We let mom decide when she was ready, but we should have helped her make the decision sooner. She is so much happier now. When we walk down the halls, all the staff greet her by name and smile at her. That might seem small, but it means a lot. Another manager, Barbi, is amazing. She helped us with the move and is an absolute angel. She really cares about what she does, and it shows. I would definitely recommend Dancing River if you're looking for an assisted living community.

"Great Community and Courtyard, Food is Okay"

We’re really impressed with how easy it is to live here. The community does a great job helping people feel at home. The food is okay, and there’s a nice courtyard outside.

"Change in Management Ruins Quality at Assisted Living Facility"

At first, the management was top-notch at this assisted living facility. However, when new leaders took over, things took a turn for the worst. The place wasn't kept clean anymore and the staff looked unprofessional, even down to their untied shoes. It was a disaster. It was like they didn't really know what they were doing. The situation was truly terrible. Many of their staff quit, and those who replaced them seemed equally clueless. I'm not sure who owns the place now, or how it is since the time when we had our experience. I know there were big changes - all the old staff were fired and new ones were brought in just after we left. The building itself is quite lovely, and the interior is well-kept. I would suggest checking to see how it is now. However, when we were there, it was a bad scene.

"Upscale Facility with Country Club Vibe"

It's closer to our house, but there are many wheelchairs. We liked it because it seemed very upscale, like a country club. However, my mother-in-law wanted something cozier and didn't like the country club feel.

"Great New Assisted Living with Private Suites!"

Really liked it. The place is new, and they have private suites with extra perks included in the basic monthly rent.
