"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short"
The staff at this assisted living facility cared a lot, but there were problems. They didn't respond quickly when my mom needed help using the pull cords in her room. The food service was bad—they didn't pay attention to her preferences or nutritional needs. Even though I talked to management and things improved temporarily, they still didn't keep up with her medications. I eventually moved my mom to another place.

"Decent Care with Quick Response but Food Needs Improvement"
Deer Creek is a nice place. It isn’t fancy, but they respond quickly to any questions or concerns I have. The food can be hit or miss for my loved one. When I've stepped in, they fix the issue. I think they might have had to get a new chef.

"High Costs, Inexperienced Caregivers, and Overcrowding Blight Facility"
My experience here wasn't great - the amount of care given wasn't enough, considering the cost. Plus, the caregivers, who seemed to lack experience, had too many patients to look after.

"Friendly Staff, My Parents Are Well at This Community"
My parents are doing great at this community. Since they moved here, everything has been going well. The place is very clean and nice. The staff is friendly, helpful, and polite. They offer enjoyable activities for the residents, which is good for my parents. The meals are decent too. Overall, it's been a positive experience, and I would recommend this community.

"Pleasant Experiences"
We’ve been happy with our experience so far. The place feels warm and cozy, like home. Unlike the previous facility Mom was in, which felt cold and sterile, Brookdale Desoto is much nicer. Mom enjoys all the scheduled activities.

"Brookdale is great, just needs a bit more laundry attention"
Brookdale has been really good! I don't have big issues. My loved one has dementia, so it's hard to be sure, but it might be helpful if they did the laundry a bit more often. Other than that, it's going well.

Brookdale's been great! Maybe more frequent laundry, otherwise good.

"Great care but slow entry, needs improved visitor access"
Even though it takes a while to get inside, they’re doing a great job. They really take care of my mom. She always feels busy and says the food is good, plus she’s gaining weight. It would be better if they had a fingerprint scanner or something to let approved visitors in more easily.

"They take good care of mom, but getting in the door can be hard."
Besides the wait to enter, they're doing a great job. Mom receives excellent care. She's always busy and enjoys the food, gaining weight. It'd be nice if they had a fingerprint scan for approved visitors.

"A Loving and Caring New Home for Mom"
Before deciding to move my mom to SH Desoto, I checked out every assisted living place nearby, as I wanted her close to me. I chose SH Desoto because the staff are so pleasant, helpful, and caring. I visited many times before making the decision, and every time, the staff was just as friendly. I visit often, and each time, everyone is still very kind and caring to the residents. My mom, who has moderate dementia, was very active and needed to stay busy, but she can't live alone or drive anymore. The Activities Director does a great job providing things for them to do, which is perfect for my mom. She even takes pictures during special events and sends them to me if I can’t be there, so I can see how much fun my mom is having. They also have church services, praise and worship, Bible study, and many other activities. The staff always checks in with the residents before each activity to remind them, which is helpful since some might forget. They are really attentive, especially if a resident’s routine changes. For instance, when my mom missed breakfast because she fell back asleep, a staff member immediately went to her apartment to check on her. My mom always says the meals are very good, and they give plenty of food. They even have Family and Friends nights where residents can invite family for dinner. My husband and I have joined her for dinner a few times, and the food is great. My mom has never lived alone before, and I was worried about her, but from her first night at SH Desoto, she felt at home. She loves everything about her new place the apartment, the food, the friends, the staff, and the activities. It’s a huge relief for me. I also have friends and neighbors with loved ones here, and they all like it a lot. While you might find newer places around, you won’t find a staff as friendly and caring as at SH Desoto. They truly love and care about the residents!

"So far so good"
The first visit to the facility was really nice. I thought it might be too good to be true, but after going back with a family member, we both liked it. A close friend also visited and appreciated the small community. The residents were friendly and caring. It's great that there's no separation based on race; at that age, everyone shares similar challenges. The staff has been helpful and supportive, especially during my difficult task of relocating a relative with dementia from California to Texas. Sterling House - Desoto staff is doing a great job.

"Great Place for Friends and Care"
I picked this place for my mom because she has a friend who lives here too. It's really nice, clean, and everyone is friendly. We checked out other places, but this one was the best. It’s just right for my mom.

"Great place but needs more staff for high-risk patients"
My mom moved here and we liked her apartment and the people at DeSoto Sterling House. The food was good and there were great activities. However, they didn’t have enough staff to manage my mom’s fall risk and dementia. For those needing close supervision, a smaller patient-to-staff ratio might be better. I’d recommend this place for those who can live in their own apartment with some help. Unfortunately, mom fell and broke a bone within six days and had to go to rehab. We were sad to move her out, but her fall risk was too high.

"Great place for those needing some care but watch for falls"
My mom moved here, and we really liked her apartment and the people at DeSoto Sterling House. They had good food and fun activities. However, they didn't have enough staff to manage my mom's fall risk and dementia properly. For patients needing close supervision, a smaller patient-to-caregiver ratio would be better. Despite this, I'd suggest this place for anyone who can stay in their own apartment with some help. Sadly, mom fell within the first six days, broke a bone, and had to go to rehab. We were sad to move her out, but her fall risk was too high.
