"Inconsistent Cleaning and Staffing, Decent Food and Management"
The people who run the place are friendly, and the food tastes good. However, the rooms aren't cleaned well, and the staff who help out aren't very quick to respond. It seems like they don't do much unless someone really pushes them. Also, it feels like nobody's checking to make sure they're doing all the things they're supposed to be doing. We ended up choosing this place mainly because it was available when we needed it and it's close by.

"Mixed Experience, Outstanding Staff, Overall Recommended for Care"
The food at Bedford Estates is usually good, though sometimes not so tasty. The cleaning of rooms is done well, but when they put my brother's laundry on a high shelf, it could make him fall. This bothers him a lot. The staff was really great when we moved my brother in. They made it easy and not too stressful. I would definitely say Bedford Estates is a good place to live. The property is nice, and I think they take really good care of my brother.

"Only One Good Employee at Lacking Facility"
This place is truly awful, it'd take me forever to list all the reasons. The only good thing is that there's one really nice woman that works here. She goes out of her way to help anyone who needs it, even if it means she has troubles herself. The person in charge at the front desk? She's supposed to be trained to handle people with memory problems, but she's not. She's not honest, can't communicate, and you just can't trust her to be kind. You'll constantly worry about your family member if they stay here.

"Great Choice: Bedford Estates Saved Us After a Terrible Experience"
My Mom LOVES it at Bedford Estates, and it's so much better than her last place, which was awful! Bedford Estates is absolutely AMAZING. My 91-year-old Mom had been living independently for the past 20 years. When she needed to switch to Assisted Living last year, we were lost. The first place we tried was always short on staff and had all sorts of issues like missed medications, missed meals, and falls with no help available. My Mom ended up leaving that place on a stretcher right before Christmas because a caregiver had bullied her. Yes, that really happened! We were desperate for a new Assisted Living facility and super thankful for [name removed] from A Place for Mom who helped us out during the holidays. She found Bedford Estates, and my Mom moved in just a couple of days after Christmas, right from the hospital. Although her own furniture hadn't arrived yet, Bedford Estates gave her a fully furnished room in the meantime. Everything at Bedford Estates is EXCELLENT! They have a spacious dining room with lots of menu options. My Mom used to complain about the food at her old place, but now she raves about it. The little things make a big difference to her too. At Bedford Estates, they set each table with nice linen and silverware, unlike her old place where residents had to hunt down plastic utensils. I am so grateful to everyone at Bedford Estates for giving my Mom a comfortable, safe place to live. I highly recommend it—I've seen bad facilities, and you won't regret choosing Bedford Estates!

"Mixed feelings about assisted living: good care, lacking communication."
The care here is really good, but the activities seemed too advanced for my loved one. The staff didn't communicate with us very well, I had to call or email multiple times just to get a response. The food is simple, but my loved one liked it. They do offer substitutions if residents don't like what's being served.

"Good tour, but not the best fit and very expensive"
Our family visited and the tour was okay, but it didn’t seem like the best place for our loved one. The outdoor area only had sidewalks and very little seating. We’re not sure if it was just the time we visited, but it looked like the residents were just wandering around and not really doing much. It was also really pricey.

My father-in-law and mother-in-law aren't enjoying their stay, mainly because they don't want to be there. They're not pleased with anything, which makes them reluctant to participate in activities, despite the staff's efforts and our encouragement. The food seems okay, but since they're unhappy, their feedback isn't positive. On a positive note, the housekeeping is well done, and the staff, overall, is friendly and understanding given the circumstances.

"Friendly Staff, but sub-par bathrooms at Elmcroft"
Elmcroft is sort of expensive at $95 a day, rounding off to about $2890 a month. But, that price includes bathing, changing diapers, and giving necessary medicine. That's a pretty good deal when you compare it to other places we visited. However, the carpets in the hallways weren't as clean as the other place we saw today. The bathrooms at Elmcroft aren't the best for sharing because there's nowhere to put your towels and barely any room for your personal stuff, except for a tiny medicine cabinet. Plus, the rooms you'd share are small and might be better for folks just staying to get some physical therapy. I tried to find some reviews for Elmcroft, but they wanted my name and number which I already gave to A Place for Mom. All the staff were super friendly. And, the entrance, game room, and dining area were pretty clean and tidy.

"Unsettled Management and Mediocre Food at Assisted Living"
At first, everything was just perfect. But, our move wasn't only because we required more assistance, it was also due to how they were managing the place. There were too many management changes and honestly, it was not that good. However, we decided to stay because of the kind caregivers. The food for some time was not up to the mark. The place wasn't clean enough. I am aware that they have brought in a new management team, but their ways of calling people in and telling them that some residents needed more help, then firing them was not right. I don't think they handled things well at all.

Elmcroft does an amazing job! I'd give them five stars everywhere! The staff are incredible and always went out of their way to help. I visited often and saw how the staff went above and beyond to make everyone happy. I can't praise them enough! The facility is clean and looks nice, and the care seems like a good value. However, the food could use some improvement—it’s not terrible but could be better. What I really liked was how secure the facility is. Since my loved one had wandering issues, the single entrance/exit with an alarm made me feel much safer. If I ever need this kind of care, Elmcroft would be my top choice. "False promises and poor conditions at assisted living facility"
This place deceived my mom - I was there to bear witness. He was promised a double room solo, until a single room opened up. As soon as he moved in, they thrust a roommate on him. They told us no notice was needed if he decided to leave - this sounded suspicious, so I asked them thrice. Now, they're saying that the contract she signed does require a notice. The conditions here are squalid and the chow isn't fit for consumption. They're hardly feeding the residents. My dad had an accident and even after reaching an hour later, my mom found him still on the floor, waiting for assistance. This place's sole focus seems to be money-making and not the well-being of its residents.

"Excessive Staff Overhaul Spoils Enhanced Living Facility"
The cost was double, the service and food were terrible. Hearthstone, the original institution, had been replaced thrice in a year. When the new company bought it, they made several renovations which were appreciative. However, they did a horrible job with the staff. The nurse, who had been working there for a decade, was dismissed as soon as the new owners took charge. Directors to maintenance workers, everyone was replaced multiple times. The receptionist was the only one who managed to keep her job. No staff member was familiar with the residents. My mom was fond of the maintenance guy; sadly, he had to leave abruptly. "Genuinely caring and accommodating staff!"
My dad is very messy, and they don't clean as often as I think they should, but it might not be their fault. When he lived with me, his room needed cleaning every day. The staff is wonderful. Once, I was walking down the hallway, and they didn't know I was there. A group of them were getting ready for a trip when a lady in a wheelchair reached out and touched a passing nurse. The nurse turned around, started talking to her, then hugged and even danced with her a little. She wasn't doing it for anyone's attention; they really care. My dad is a smoker, and when they caught him smoking inside, they took control of his cigarettes and keep them on the med cart, giving them to him when needed. They're very accommodating."

""Elmcroft: Too Few Caregivers but Nice Courtyard""
The main problem with Elmcroft is the number of caregivers compared to the number of residents. They rely on novice in-house hospice care to look after the residents. However, there just aren't enough workers to check on everyone. They promise to take good care of residents and check on them regularly, but once you're there, you notice they don't do this as much as promised. We've visited many times and no one comes to check. We don't see the staff around much either. A good thing about Elmcroft is their lovely courtyard where residents can chill out, which is truly a plus point.
