"Friendly Assisted Living with Some Limitations"

The place was nice, and [Removed] gave us helpful information about it. The food was tasty and freshly made, not reheated from frozen. The rooms were a good size and met our needs. Unfortunately, there was no courtyard for our family member who likes to go outside. Also, we wanted a single-level community where our loved one could stay in her room even without assistance, but that wasn’t an option here. Overall, the staff was friendly and attentive to our concerns.

"More Activities Needed, Otherwise Great Assisted Living Community"

My mom wishes there were more things to do during the day at this place. Besides that, she's doing well since moving here. I know she's safe and getting good care. The staff is nice to work with. The food is good, and she likes it. This community is good for us, and I'd suggest it.

"Perfect Community for My Social Husband"

My husband is doing well since moving here. He's a social butterfly, and he really enjoys the activities. He loves interacting with the other residents and the staff. He knows many of the residents, even if he can't remember all their names, and I know that most of them know him. Some even know me because I visit often. He also likes the very good food and that meals are always on time, which was a problem at home. Franklin Park is a great match for him, especially since he chose it himself. The staff is professional, friendly, and caring. He also likes how attentive they are.

"Community Liked, Refund Delayed"

We really liked the place and were planning to move in, but things changed and they couldn't take my family member. We never got to move in. At first, they said they couldn't give back our money, but later they agreed to refund it, which was nice. However, it's taking a really long time for us to get the money back.

"Terrible Management and Care at Assisted Living Facility"

The staff constantly changes because management is terrible. They don't even bother interacting with the residents. There are usually not enough staff during the night shift because people don't come to work. There's not enough help in the dining room, especially on weekends. When it's time for the residents to eat, there's usually only one person who serves the food and another who delivers it. The bosses have been known to yell at the residents. There have been instances where people who don't know what they're doing have given residents the wrong medication, with at least one overdose happening. The food isn't good, it's not prepared well, the portions aren't big enough, and we get the same thing over and over again. The residents' problems are hardly ever fixed nicely. When there are meetings for the residents, there aren't Microphones so it's hard for most residents to hear. Staff have been known to constantly the residents. The building and rooms are pretty good, though.

"Improvements Needed in Food and Medication Management"

This facility has a lot of things going for it, but they need to tweak a few things to hit the top mark. It's not bad for the price but could be better. I've looked at a lot of dementia care places, and most of them don't cut it. I was looking for a place that would take a couple, both with memory problems and one with Alzheimer's but that are still pretty independent. They're not wheelchair-bound or anything but we worry the one with Alzheimer's might wander off. Franklin Park was a pretty good pick - we liked that each apartment has a shower and that they have staff all the time to keep an eye on things. The food, though, could definitely be better. They serve what most people would call a typical American diet. It's high in junk food and that's not great for health or aging. The worst part is how much wheat they use, even though it's well-known among scientists that gluten can damage your gut and lead to other problems. People in dementia care shouldn't have any wheat, but Franklin Park seems to serve it all the time. Their dietitian really needs to catch up on the latest findings! Stuff like bacon and eggs, hot dogs, pizza - that's not right for elderly people. I'm 70 and my doctor had me stop eating wheat 15 years ago. It cleared up my bronchitis in no time and my cholesterol dropped right away. I've been with my wife for 6 years now and she hasn't had any wheat for almost 40 years. We always find tasty, healthy things to eat. There's a Mexican place near Franklin Park where we had grilled chicken, lettuce, and steamed veggies - so much better than the hot dogs they serve at the facility. It shouldn't be hard for any cook to serve up plenty of steamed vegetables, chicken, and fish. Chicken soup with lots of veggies would probably go over big. Whatever I've cooked up for them, they've always gobbled down. Just yesterday, they didn't like their canned peas or chicken with tortellini, but they loved the toast and pie. I saw other older folks in dementia care eating hot dogs there. And they all have heart problems and should not be eating burgers with cheese on top. The other thing that bugs me is how they handle medications. I don't get why they call me to refill prescriptions. They have the pill bottles with all the info they need. They could just reach out to the pharmacy themselves - especially since the pharmacy always lets me know when things need to be picked up. But no, I end up getting a call that my mom's almost out of something, then I have to call the facility to get the prescription number - which they sometimes don't have - and then I have to call the pharmacy to order more. They really should keep a list of all the prescription numbers for each person.

"Mom's Unhappy Stay at Franklin Park"

When my sister's husband got a job change, our mom moved from Austin to San Antonio and ended up at Franklin Park. She didn't like it one bit. The place wasn't friendly at all. Most of the residents stayed in their rooms unless it was time to eat. Plus, not a lot of folks got involved in the scant activities they had. Dealing with the head of the place was also tricky. It took him forever to respond to our concerns. My brother-in-law even had to meet with him several times. They sorted out some of the issues, but not all. Franklin Park at Stone Oak was not a place where Mom felt good.

"Comfortable, but feels like a hotel. Prefer residents' entrance."

Review: This place is really nice and it looks brand new. It kinda feels like staying at a hotel though. I think next time I'll use the entrance for residents and visitors.

"Disappointing Experience at Franklin Park Memory Care"

I saw good reviews for Franklin Park. So, I chose it for my husband's memory care. They gave me a nice plan for his care. But, things weren't happening like they should. I asked a caregiver why. They said, Management tells families what they think they want to hear.

"Assisted Living Falls Short of Expectations; Misleading Advertisement Disappoints Residents."

This place isn't like a fancy resort as they claim. When I first got there, the staff were nice, but once I said I didn't like it, they got rude and mean, making it hard for me to leave. The food was gross, often cold, and sometimes not what I ordered. The other people living there weren't friendly either. I wouldn't suggest anyone over 55 live here. They just care about money, not people. They make it seem amazing, but it's not once you're there. I think I should've been refunded for the lies and how they treated me made my health worse. Their true colors shocked me.
