"Staffing issues and tough food made this facility frustrating"
When my dad arrived, he had some issues with incontinence, mostly with urine. There weren’t enough staff to check on him regularly. The hospice nurse suggested checking on him every 2 hours to make sure he was dry or to change him. They said they didn’t have the staff for that. I had to visit him from 7:30 to 11:30 in the morning and then again from 5:30 to 8:30 in the evening. I would take his laundry home every day, except on Thursdays when they washed it. He always had a lot of laundry because he wasn’t being changed often enough. His skin started chafing, and we had to try several creams before finding one that worked. It became uncomfortable for him to sit, so we knew we needed to move him. The food was always hard to cut and chew. They often served dry chicken breasts that were difficult for residents to cut and chew. This food often ended up wasted and frustrated the residents.

"Mixed Feelings About The Delaney"
However, it seems there were some concerns about the size of the facility and its suitability for those needing significant assistance. If you'd like more information, you can explore the following sources: 1. The Delaney at South Shore in League City, TX: This community offers independent living, assisted living, and memory care. It has received positive reviews overall¹. 2. The Delaney at Parkway Lakes in Richmond, TX: Another option with 18 reviews and photos available². 3. The Delaney of Bridgewater in Bridgewater, NJ: A retirement community with a variety of services and amenities³. 4. The Delaney at Georgetown Village in Georgetown, TX: This community has 23 reviews and might be worth considering as well⁴.

"Mixed Experience at Gateway Villas and Gardens"
We visited Gateway Villas and Gateway Gardens while looking for a place for our loved one. We checked out four other facilities too. Out of all the tours, this one was just okay. In the end, we chose a different facility.

"Look for Better Care Elsewhere"
Find another place. They don't have enough staff, which is probably why there are so many problems. They don't check on my loved one twice a day like they're supposed to. They go days without emptying her trash. The manager isn't following up with me about getting her long-term info to the insurance company. The way they do the meals is crazy, although that is getting better.

"Nice staff, improving meals, good communication, recommend to family"
Things have been good overall at this place. They're changing management and some staff, which has been a bit of a hassle, but things are already getting better. The staff is very nice. They're also working on making meals better. Lately, the food has been cold often and there hasn't been much variety, especially at breakfast. Communication with the family is pretty good; I usually get at least a text. Housekeeping and laundry service is once a week, and they do a good job. I would recommend this place to family and friends.

"Mixed Feelings About The Delaney"
Our family visited The Delaney in person, and it was really nice. We wanted to get on the waiting list right away because it was our top choice. However, the hospice nurse we spoke with mentioned that because The Delaney is so large, our loved one might get overlooked. Additionally, we felt that they weren't well-suited for those who needed a lot of assistance.

"Assisted Living Needs Food Improvement, Otherwise Good Leadership Opportunity"
I'd tell my friend that living here is okay if you're ready to put in effort and lead. We're trying to make things better for the people who live here. They take care of us pretty well, but the food isn't great. Sometimes it's cold or overcooked, especially the meats.

"Welcoming Homey Facility with Limited Menu and Few Shopping Trips"
The facility feels quite homey and the residents are incredibly friendly. They made me feel super welcome. It's a smaller-sized place, and trips for groceries are only done once a month. However, there are many fun activities going on within the facility. At a very reasonable price, I would say it's definitely worth it. For me getting there requires a 25-minute drive. The daily food menu is a bit limited, but they are open to accommodate dietary needs. The location is beautiful, placed on a hilltop. Although the views are mostly of the building, you have the option to set up bird feeders or other items outside.

"Great facility with excellent staff and transportation services"
Mom is still getting used to things, but we're very happy. The facility is clean and the staff is friendly. It's smaller than other places, so there's a good staff-to-resident ratio. Gateway's transportation is better than any others I’ve seen. So far, I can't think of anything that needs improvement. Despite some homesickness, Mom is settling in and liking it.

"Gateway Assisted Living: Comfort and Care for Mom's Peace"
My experience with Gateway is limited to a week. I'm holding off on a full assessment of care services. So far, things are good with no complaints, but I'm not jumping to conclusions due to limited observation and my mom's selective memory! Still, I'm impressed with everything else. I feel relieved and worry-free when I leave. It's a feeling I wasn't sure I'd ever find. I haven't found any negative feedback about Gateway from other sources. Susan has been incredibly helpful, competent, professional, and caring. She's perfect for her job. My mom's room is a cozy studio for now, though she's on a waiting list for a larger one. But she might not move because she loves the beautiful view from her window. I've made it cozy for her. She enjoys the food, which is a big plus. That's all I can share for now.

"Disappointing Care Provided At Gateway Villa, Dad Thrives Elsewhere."
My dad resided at Gateway Villa for less than a month. When we met with the Director, she said she'd ensure my dad's needs were met - like help with daily activities and moving to/from meals. But that didn't happen. Instead, staff treated my dad like he didn't need help, even though we paid for premium care. After chatting with the aides, I learned that Gateway Villa was actually for independent living while their Garden building catered to assisted living. I had a talk with Susan about moving my dad to the Garden building but she insisted that the only difference between the two was how well residents could walk. However, the staff didn't seem to know this detail. I checked on my dad almost daily and each time, I found him on his own, often in bed. Staff told me that if he didn't want to get up or eat, they just let him be. One night at 8PM, I found him alone in the dining room, looking hungry. They hadn't fed him and whenever he missed a meal, they didn't bother to serve him the snacks in his fridge. When I confronted the manager, they told me staff weren't allowed to serve residents personal food. I couldn't believe it. The care staff seemed nice and competent, but were overloaded with work. There were times when only one aide had to take care of 30 residents. This was because the facility counted the manager, the part-time med aide, and dietary staff as part of the care team to meet staffing ratios. One aide told me she felt relieved when she finally had two consecutive days off after working 15 days straight. I was already considering other facilities when the management informed me that my dad mysteriously found his way outside at night. This seemed impossible as my dad couldn't physically open the door they claim he used. They then told me he needed to be moved to a nursing home. But nursing homes are for those with specific medical needs requiring professional care, which doesn't apply to him. Gateway Villa might be suitable if your loved one can live largely on their own or needs slight assistance. But if you're told to pay for more comprehensive care, I suggest you look elsewhere. My dad is now at Spanish Trails Assisted Living and has been there for 4 months. The staff here is great, and the facility is more homely. My dad never wanders away, and whenever I visit, he's in the common areas, looking happy and content. Now I can be sure that he's getting the care he needs.

"Friendly and Clean Community with Good Care"
The community was nice, clean, and friendly. We found it wasn't the best fit for our loved one due to our unique needs, but they did a good job overall.

"Fantastic Place, Worth Every Penny!"
There are two buildings here. One offers 24-hour care, and the other is for assisted living. My in-laws are in the assisted living building. My husband’s dad complained about the cost, but it was definitely worth it. I didn’t see anything that needed fixing. I think it’s a fantastic place! They’re so helpful, and it’s so clean and nice that we didn’t even want to look at other places.
