"Mixed Experience with Caring Staff and Facility Conditions"

The staff at the facility was mostly good. They knew the residents well and were good at interacting with them. However, [name removed] didn't like the food, which was probably because it had low salt. By the time she was there, she was quite ill, so she might not have liked any food. She was only at the facility for 11 weeks before she passed away, and 3 of those weeks were spent in the hospital. The cleaning staff wasn't very good, but to be fair, messy and had 2 cats that she couldn't take care of. I think the staff was surprised and sad when she died.

"Not Ideal for Advanced Care Needs"

My dad wasn't very happy and moved out after a month. He needed more care than they were giving. His friend said they don't have enough staff. I think it's good for independent living, but I wouldn't want a loved one there for end-of-life care.

"Friendly Staff, Affordable Location"

Nice staff, but not enough caregivers. Good price and location.

"Greatwood Assisted Living Faces Challenges Amid Changes"

Certainly! Here’s a revised version of the review in simpler language: The place is often short-staffed, and the kitchen doesn’t listen to what residents need. Greatwood has seen a lot of changes lately, including a new owner. My sister-in-law got a disappointing breakfast when she was feeling sick. Overall, it hasn’t been a good value.

"Friendly Atmosphere!"

I've had a great time here—the residents and staff are super friendly.

"Assisted Living Facility Review: Medication Issues and Management Concerns"

Our dad hasn’t been getting his prescriptions for over two weeks now! He had blood work done, and his thyroid level was too high! We heard there's new management now. Not impressed. Also, at 7:30 am this morning, no one was at the front desk! Not happy with this and more!

"Distance from Family Affects Good Community"

Nice place to live, but it's quite a distance from family.

"Staff Engagement Lacking in Enclosed Nursing Home-Like Facility"

Great wood is a nice place, but the workers didn't seem interested. It felt too much like a nursing home, all closed in, which is why my family didn't pick it.

"Assisted Living Review Summary"

This community is nice overall. If you need help quickly, the staff can be slow to respond. They need to improve how fast they answer call buttons. The food also needs improvement. The staff talks well with families, but they need to follow through better.

"Convenient and Engaging Place with Great Staff"

Everything is pretty convenient here, and the staff do a great job getting us involved and keeping us active.

"Assisted Living Review: Greatwood Is Dad's Potential New Home"

She was really nice! She gave us good info and showed us around. She understood what my dad needed right away. She knew a lot about the place. I want to take dad for a visit in August, but we have to check with his heart doctor first. The place is nice, quiet, and looks good. It has everything dad needs for his lifestyle. It's near shops and hospitals too. The drive there worries me a bit, but we'll talk to dad about it. I'll keep in touch. Thanks!

"Alienated by Forceful Leaders in Care Home Visit"

Feeling underwhelmed. The folks in charge come off as harsh.

"Decent Manager, Uncomfortable Seating, Far from Mom’s Home"

I liked, the person running the assisted living area. The place looks a bit old. The outdoor spaces did not have much shade and the seats were few and not comfy. It's also too far from where my mom stays right now.

"Brighten Up and Visit This Community for Care"

This is a nice place, but it could use some big changes. The staff are friendly and answered all our questions. They should work on making the place look brighter for the residents. The food looks good, and they have activities. We suggest families visit this community to see if it’s a good fit for them.

"Perfect Place with Pond, Ducks, and Friendly Staff"

My sister and brother-in-law really enjoy living here. The landscaping is always in great shape, and they love the pond with ducks where they can sit and watch. Inside, everything is also well-maintained and beautiful. All areas are connected indoors, so you don’t have to go outside to get to different places. The food is amazing, thanks to the wonderful chef. The staff is super friendly, especially the guy at the concierge desk who takes care of any requests. There are so many activities, and my sister especially loves bingo. It’s been a perfect choice for our family, and we all love it here.

"Mom's Home for Kind Care"

I appreciate the care at this community. The staff is kind and caring. She seems content with most of the meals provided. I'm glad to know she joins the other residents in many activities. I would recommend this community to other families looking for good care and value for a loved one.

"My Tour: Friendly Staff and Neat Community"

This place has tiny rooms. They put the independent living folks in the same building as the assisted living residents. We wanted more independence. The person who showed us around was really friendly, and the community seemed neat.

"Assisted Living: Worth Considering, But Ask Questions"

This place has lots to do every day and even trips twice a month to see baseball games. I've eaten the food and it's really tasty. They take good care of the whole community, and they clean my dad's place each week. The staff is friendly, especially the person at the front desk who's really helpful. It's a closed-off community with a nice courtyard for residents. I'd say it's a good place to live, but make sure to ask plenty of questions beforehand.

"Greatwood at Sugar Land: A Blessing for Families"

Greatwood at Sugar Land has been like a gift from heaven. The people who work there are really nice, caring, and get what my family needs. They have lots of fun things for my mom to do, and she loves it. I think other families should use A Place for Mom and go to Greatwood at Sugar Land.

"Great care and good value for loved ones at this community"

I really like the care at this place. The staff are kind and really look after the residents. They’re making some improvements, and the food menu has a nice variety. We’re happy that she’s starting to join in with the other residents. We’d definitely suggest this place to other families looking for great care and good value for their loved ones.

"Great Tour! Friendly Staff, Beautiful Courtyard, Not Right for Dad"

I really liked visiting this community when I took my loved one for a tour. The people who worked there were all very nice and told us lots of good things about their place. They had a really pretty courtyard, and other cool stuff for everyone who lives there. I would totally suggest this place, but it just wasn't the best choice for my dad.

My family member stayed here for a short visit, and it was a positive experience. We recommend Greatwood and will definitely use them again.

"Welcoming and Supportive"

My parents moved in two days before Christmas. Two days after Christmas, Daddy was hospitalized and never came home. We lost him on January 15th. Greatwood was awesome with the move-in process. They and the residents have been so welcoming and supportive. Mom invited me to lunch yesterday, and the food was delicious. I'm so happy she has found a special place to live.

"Greatwood Sugar Land: Fantastic Food and Fun Activities!"

My daughter started working at Greatwood Sugar Land this summer and she absolutely loves it. She often tells me about all the fun activities they offer, like style shows and scrapbooking. She eats lunch there every day and always mentions how great the food is. She also says they’re updating all the apartments and that they truly care about everyone living there.

"Mom Thrives at Greatwood Best Move Ever!"

My mom lives at Greatwood, and she couldn't be happier! Every time I visit, the place feels so warm and welcoming. She’s really involved in all the activities and sometimes she’s too busy for me! I’m thrilled for her. Moving her there was the best choice I’ve ever made!

"Moving My Parents to Greatwood at Sugar Land Soon"

I recently visited Greatwood at Sugar Land and was blown away! The place is beautiful and looks really well kept. Everyone there, from the staff to the residents, was super friendly! I had lunch after the tour, and the food was fantastic! I’m planning to move my parents in before the month ends. Thanks, Greatwood!

"Steer Clear of Greatwood: Substandard Management, Poor Conditions"

Greatwood's condition has considerably deteriorated over the years due to ineffective management and countless building issues. The building underwent a flood that left the front office overrun with mold, forcing a complete redo. The carpet and rest of the fixtures in the facility are aged, with only superficial fixes being made to make it seem decent. The management is perpetually understaffed and the administrators are frequently absent. The food quality is appalling -- it's undercooked and unsavory. Unfortunately, I have also witnessed moldy leftovers in the fridge and cockroaches in the kitchen facilities. The entire facility urgently needs a comprehensive makeover and better management. I sincerely advise against choosing this residence, as you will end up paying a significant sum for subpar services.

"Disappointing Visit to Greatwood Retirement Community"

We were really hoping to choose the Greatwood retirement community in the Sugar Land/Richmond area because of its location and how easy it would be for our family to visit. Sadly, we were let down by how old and run-down the place looked. The carpet was worn out and it seemed like they hadn't spent money on new stuff in a long time, especially when we compared it to other retirement homes. There were no people hanging out in the common areas, so it didn't seem like a fun or friendly place to be. Also, when we got there we had to park really far from the building because there was no other space, so parking is definitely a problem.

"Underwhelmed by Assisted Living Facility Visit"

Maybe it was the gloomy day, but we weren't really wowed. It felt more like an institution and less like a home, even though the advertising director really tried to stress how much they'll try to help us make Mom happy and content. This place won't make it to the top of our search list.

"Need for Big Overhaul At Greatwood Senior Living"

In the past year, Greatwood Senior Living has really gone downhill. The buildings, especially the air conditioning, need fixing pronto. Inside, everything feels old and dirty, even the carpets are getting gross. The food is bad, too. They're not giving us enough to eat, and what they are serving isn't healthy or tasty. We used to eat with our parents here, but now we don't even try - it's that bad. There are good people working here, but they don't seem to be getting the guidance they need to take care of us properly. Residents have tried complaining, but the lead staff just make excuses and nada changes. It's clear that things need to step up. And we're embarrassed to even have guests visit. Even as cost to live here goes up each year, the support and service we get is getting worse. I wouldn't tell anyone to come live here anymore.

"Consider Other Senior Communities: Greatwood Falls Short"

Greatwood Senior Living has gone downhill in the recent years. The building, constructed around 2000-2001, hasn't seen much improvement since then. The carpet in shared spaces is old and dirty, there are water leaks inside and outside, mold in the ventilation, and general upkeep is lacking. What's worse, the food served lacks proper nutrients; some of it isn't even fit to eat. The seniors living here have voiced concerns about both the service and the food, but get brushed off with excuses that it's due to Senior Living rules. If this is a sign of being "family managed," I'd hate to be a part of it. Even as yearly rents go up, expectations aren't rising. The high rent doesn't line up with the lousy food and poor building upkeep. I recommend looking at other, newer senior communities in the Richmond and Sugar Land area before making a choice. It'll be worth it.

"Greatwood Feels Like Home: Friendly and Welcoming Environment"

It's a beautiful place and very friendly to everyone. Everyone smiles, talks, and truly cares about each other. I visited 17 places, but as soon as I walked into Greatwood, I knew I had found my home.

"Upscale, but a little impersonal."

This was one of the places we visited during our search. It seemed fancier than some other options, but it also felt a bit distant. The staff was friendly, yet there was an impersonal vibe.

"Happy Residents, Excellent Staff, Clean Environment: Highly Recommended Assisted Living"

This place is really clean. The people who work there are super nice. My mother in law isn't taking full advantage of everything they offer. They have lots of things you can do. My father in law thinks it's great, especially the food. Everyone seems happy there, and he enjoys being around them. We thought the location was perfect.

"Nice Place for Seniors!"

We visited this community while exploring senior living options for a family member. It looked really nice! The place was clean, well-maintained, and the staff seemed very friendly. During the tour, the residents appeared active and social.

"Pleasant, but More Resembles a Nursing Home"

Pleasant place, but it's more like a nursing home.

"Nice place, but not for us"

When I visited, I didn't have any problems with this place. It was clean, except for some usual wear and tear. The staff were very friendly, and I enjoyed working with her. Unfortunately, it didn't work out for my loved ones. They felt cramped in the small 1 bed/1 bath unit. The food was their biggest complaint. I tried it and thought it was okay, but the residents said it wasn't good. Also, my loved ones never joined the activities, which might have helped them adjust. Overall, it didn't work for us, but everyone is sweet and nice!

"Melanie's Professionalism and Warmth Shine in Excellent Facility Tour"

Melanie was very professional and great at explaining what the community offers. We really liked how open she was to the 'Day Stay' idea, which could help with immediate needs. The facility itself was very nice, and we appreciated the choice of combining independent living with assisted living, especially for couples with different needs. This seems to fit our needs best right now. The two-bedroom apartment (Royal Oak) she showed us felt the most like a home out of all the places we visited and would make the transition easier if they moved in today. I also liked the indoor carpeted hallways. The facility was clean and attractive, and the festive decorations were a fun touch we didn’t see elsewhere. We didn’t see many residents due to the time of day, but Melanie greeted two of them by name, and they responded positively. We would definitely consider this community for our parents’ future care.

"Happy with Greatwood, but considering other options soon"

We've been really happy with Greatwood. It's the only place we've had my in-laws, so I don't have anything else to compare it to, but I think it's been worth it. My father-in-law isn't interested in any of the activities, even though we've tried to find ones he might like. My mother-in-law has dementia, and we're probably going to need to find another place soon because she needs more help at night, so we've started getting extra home health care.

"Comfortable Community: Greatwood at SugarLand Review"

After my wife passed away two years ago, my kids nudged me to consider living somewhere else. Keeping up with my home alone was tough, and costly too. Eventually, I agreed, and we settled on Greatwood at SugarLand. When I visited, met some residents, and checked out the place, I was impressed. So, I moved in. The fact that my kids and grandkids live nearby was a big plus. Now, after living here for one year and seven months, I've met folks from all walks of life, but we share similar needs and interests. There are lots of activities to fill our free time, and they keep adding more based on what we ask for. The sense of community here is really encouraging and makes everyday life easier. I'd definitely recommend Greatwood @ Sugarland to anyone looking for a place to settle in.

"Cheerful, Busy, and a Bit Crowded"
