"Nursing Home Neglect: Resident Dismissed Without Family Notice"
In this review, I’ll keep it straightforward. The nursing staff at the assisted living facility acted in a way that raised serious concerns. They removed a resident without informing the family beforehand, and that resident was in critical condition. The nurse in charge, who goes by the title of “regional nurse,” might want to consider medical school if she’s keen on playing doctor.

"Great facility but communication and record-keeping need improvement"
I liked the facility layout, which includes Assisted Living and Memory Care. They offered activities both inside and outside. However, I found communication lacking when my mom had an injury. There were issues between the medtechs, med director, and me, and they also lost important ER records.

"Assisted Living Facility Needs Better Communication with Families"
The workers were good at their jobs, but they need to talk better. We didn't always know why we were charged for medicine, or if our senior had seen the Nurse Practitioner. They lost some papers from the ER and said we should get new ones ourselves. They also didn't check the ER papers before they decided we needed more care and raised the prices a lot without telling us first.

"Heritage Oaks: A Mixed Bag, but Overall Good Experience"
We've had some issues with billing at Heritage Oaks. The bills don't come on time each month, so we have to keep track of them. We chose this place because they were friendly. It has everything we wanted, with sensible rules and no unnecessary restrictions. The whole facility got a makeover this year and it's clean and comfy. But the dining options are mostly terrible. The menus come from corporate, and while the food isn't bad, it's not well thought out. They should do a better job telling new families about services like weekly transportation to doctor appointments and the on-staff physician who visits residents who can't go out. That's been a lifesaver for us. Our only problem was not knowing everything they offer for several months. It'd be great if they put together an info packet for families right at the beginning. Overall, our experience has been good, and our loved one is happy here.

"Neglect and Danger: Assisted Living Nightmare"
I’d totally close 'em down if I could! The spot looks nice, but the care? Awful! No fun stuff to do! They had my dad all chemically tied up, and when I asked for a check-in, they didn’t bother. He fell and got hurt bad. No help called! I wouldn’t suggest this place to a dog on its last legs!

My family member is happy, socializing, and improving here. But, there's been quick staff changes, messy book-keeping, and new directors. Hoping for improvement.

"Heritage Oaks: Not Recommended; Poor Management, Medication Issues, Lack of Compassion"
I wouldn't suggest Heritage Oaks to anyone after what happened with the management there. They charged a late fee even when we paid on time, and only refunded it if we asked. That seems like fraud or theft to me. Also, they often ran out of my loved one's medicine even though they were supposed to handle it. Sometimes they forgot to bring him meals, so he went without. The staff was hit or miss, especially at night and on weekends. They couldn't get the billing right from the start. And their response when my father passed away was terrible. They showed no compassion, and the staff didn't know how to handle his account. I haven't received any condolences or guidance on what to do next. When I talked to the Executive Director, she was rude, snarky, and blamed others instead of taking responsibility. Please don't recommend them to anyone unless they completely change their management.

"Clean and Convenient Assisted Living Facility"
We picked Heritage Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care because it's clean and they could admit us fast. They always update and remodel it. I'd tell other families to consider them.

"Staff Truly Engaged and Caring"
My father moved to Heritage Oaks in [date removed]. I live an hour away and visit him at least once a week. Whether I'm signing in or out, walking through the hallways, visiting him in his room, or having lunch with him in the dining room, every staff member and aide we meet knows if my father is having a good day or needs extra care. This shows they really take the time to interact with him. I’m very happy with how caring and involved they are with the residents.

"From Top Tier to Mediocrity: A Review of Heritage Oaks"
After my mom had a stroke, we decided to put her in Heritage Oaks, a senior living facility. She lived there for around four years. During that time, there were a lot of changes in the staff and in the quality of the service. Despite having a nice appearance, there were many problems. We began noticing an increase in issues and saw a number of residents leaving. Staff members were dismissed which affected the level of service and care drastically. We were shocked to pay $5,000 per month for services and care that was poorly delivered, even after expressing our concerns repeatedly. Treatment procedures were overlooked. Mom's oxygen and her medication weren't given properly, personal hygiene assistance was lacking, bed linens weren't changed regularly and her laundry was often lost. I saw a review where someone struggled with getting the door code to exit the building. This hit home because there were several instances where even the staff didn't know the code. On days when management was gone, no one knew how to reach family members in case of emergency situations. When we initially took mom to Heritage Oaks, it was a well-rated and recent establishment. Seeing its steep decline over the years was disappointing. The maintenance of the facility had clearly suffered a great deal, you could tell just by looking at the dirty carpet. One time, it took over 10 attempts to finally get mom's toilet fixed. To sum it up, Heritage Oaks used to be a great place. I really hope they manage to improve. When we decided to move mom elsewhere, they were losing about one or two residents every week to other facilities. The Executive Director had been let go and the Sales Manager was serving as the 'Acting Director'. Leaving was tough, but it was the best decision for mom's wellbeing.

"Improving with Great Staff and Pleasant Environment"
They've just hired a new activities director, and things are getting better. The place is clean and has lovely grounds. There are two big, clean courtyards where residents can relax. They also let pets. The food tastes great. The nursing staff are fantastic and really helpful. I definitely recommend this place.

"Great Location and Caring Staff Make This Place Wonderful"
It’s going pretty well for my husband, and we like everyone there. They are really good at helping him out at night. The location is great for me because it’s next to my house. It’s very clean and well taken care of. The table is always set nicely, and we have no complaints about how the community is run. The food is okay, and he eats pretty well. He loves their milk and drinks it all the time. The ladies are sweet with him, and he likes his bed. I was able to sit and watch TV with him during the storm. They come right in when he pushes the button. There was some staff turnover, from the director to the activities director and the financial person. They were supposed to send info to the insurance so we could set up payment. It took three tries to get the info to my insurance, which was a bit frustrating. They are in a good location.

"Good Place but Needed Bigger Outside Space."
We checked out Heritage Oaks and it looked pretty good. The people working there were nice and got back to all our questions. They kept the place neat and tidy. But we decided to go with a different spot cause we wanted a bigger outside space. We thought grandma would like to spend time outdoors and breathe in fresh air.

"Nice place, but not the right fit for us"
This place might work well for some families, but it wasn't right for us. The decor was ordinary, and the atmosphere was pleasant. We just didn’t feel a connection with the place. They gave us a good tour, and I didn’t notice anything bad.

"Great Place for Mom!"
The staff here is super encouraging, making my mom feel comfortable enough to join in activities. She really likes how attentive they are with her. The housekeeping is okay, but it would be even better if they cleaned the rooms a bit more thoroughly. The meals are good too. I would definitely recommend this community to friends and family.

"Top-notch assisted living with upfront pricing and abundant activities."
Heritage Oaks is the best place we found nearby. We're really pleased with it. They didn't have as many surprise fees, they showed us the total cost right away, and extra care didn't cost extra. There are plenty of things to do here. I always see other residents playing bingo or doing puzzles, and the food tastes pretty good, just like home.

"Misleading Facility Promises: Outward Beauty, Inward Neglect"
After nine long years caring for our mom who was living with COPD, my sister and I reached the painful realization that she needed more attention than we could offer. We toured a certain assisted living facility and were impressed by its aesthetics and seemingly nice staff members. Our mom moved into this place, named Care Partners, but our initial impressions were sadly mistaken. The term 'Care Partners' appeared to just be a fancy title for anyone who happened to interact with the residents. Their duties varied according to the day's staff availability. The only registered nurse they had worked for a mere one month during our mom's three-month stay. Unfortunately, our dear mother passed away three months after she moved in. Communicating with the managing company after our mother's demise hurt even more. They denied being responsible for her oxygen care, hence disregarded any fault for the deficiency in their trained staff to monitor her condition or switch her devices. No one informed us about this shortfall when we admitted her, even though her admission papers clearly showed COPD as her main diagnosis and required care. Please learn from our experience. Don't be fooled by the outer appearance. The first thing you'll see on their website is how magnificent the place is, almost forgetting to mention the care services on offer.

"Pretty Satisfied Overall"
I am pretty happy with Heritage Oaks. There are some small things that could be better. My mom just moved in and is having a tough time adjusting. The staff’s solution was to put her in memory care for the day. Now they are trying to help her move into the assisted living part. I think this could have been handled better. I wish they had told me about it. The staff just put her in lockdown if she wanders the halls. They don’t spend time with her; they just put her in memory care lockdown. I like the assisted living at Heritage Oaks more than the memory care. Last night, I went over and couldn’t get in because no one knew the code, and there was no one at the front desk. It was before 7 pm, and it wasn’t supposed to be locked yet. There were also visitors who needed to leave but couldn’t. The visitors finally gave me the code since no staff was around. This worries me, and I plan to talk to the staff about it!

"Very Friendly, Needs Better Food & Activities"
The activities here are pretty weak and could definitely be better. Most of them seem to cater more to the ladies, leaving little for the male residents. Our biggest concern, though, is the food. The quality and quantity of the meals are seriously lacking. On a positive note, the staff is very friendly. They do an excellent job keeping my father’s room clean and handling his laundry. Overall, they’re doing well, but there’s definitely room for improvement in both the activities and the food.

"Avoid This Care Center: Deceitful Management and Poor Training"
Don't pick this place. We got lied to by the Director and there was always NO nurse on duty to watch over medications or the so called medication helpers. We could only laugh at the activities they provided. We finally reached out to DADS, the agency in charge, due to bad handling of medication and not enough training for staff members. As a result, DADS fined the center for acting carelessly. Also, imagine this, you're not allowed to reach out to the main company, Capitol Senior, mostly because they're located in a different state.

"Our Heritage Oaks Family"
We moved my 96-year-old great-grandma from Abilene, TX to Heritage Oaks Memory Care to be closer to us. When we toured Heritage Oaks and met Becky Thomas, we were really impressed with the place and the staff. Our experience just got better from there. On move-in day, the staff welcomed us like family. They were so kind to Mymee and treated her like their own. When it was time for Hospice, Heritage Oaks and Rose of Texas worked perfectly together! If you need a place in Conroe for Assisted Living or Memory Care, this is THE PLACE! Thank you, Heritage Oaks, for treating our family like your own! We love you!

"Steer Clear: This Assisted Living Facility Lacks Respect and Care"
The Hospice recommended this assisted living place for my dad. He was supposed to receive a week of respite care there. Halfway through his stay, we were horrified by their lack of care, kindness, and professionalism. They'd given my dad so much medication that he couldn't talk. He would just stare down and drool. They parked him in an old-person's chair in the hallway, so their staff could see him from their desks and wouldn't have to visit his room. My dad, who proudly served his country in WWII and loved his family, was left on display for everyone. This place stripped him of his dignity! How can anyone work there and claim to care for these people? I won't stop at just posting this review. I'll report this place to BBB, the Commission on Aging, the state of Texas, and any other appropriate agencies.
