"Caring Staff, Facility Needs Improvement"
This assisted living place isn't ready for someone to stay long-term as they get older. The carpet is old and looks dirty, especially where most people walk, and some parts of the building just seem dirty because it's an old place. But there are many wonderful and nice people working there. My family member doesn't need much help right now. I don't think they can stay here as they need more help over time. We're not getting some services we were promised, and it's hard to figure out when certain services are available and how to get them. It took more than a week to change the batteries in a safety necklace, and they haven't had a nurse around for a few weeks. The food was great when we first came, but it's not good anymore. The meat is hard to chew, the veggies are mushy and gross, and it doesn't look good. The chef and some of the servers are really nice and doing their best. A lot of people living here are worried about this. I hope it gets better. The person in charge of making the place look nice and planning fun things does a great job, but it's hard for the people living here to join in because they're all at different levels of being able to do things. The staff is nice and the activities and decorations are great. It's a good place for someone who can do most things on their own or just needs a little help.

"Assisted Living Facility Review: Ups and Downs"
This place used to be great 5 years ago. Then, new owners came, and things went downhill quickly. They stopped helping with small tasks, which was really disappointing. We thought about moving Mom out, but she enjoys living here. However, there's been a lot of staff changes since she arrived. Nobody seems to know the residents well. When staff complains about management to families, you know something's not right. But things started getting better when they changed managers. We like the location and vibe, and hope things keep improving. We had issues with med techs not giving meds correctly, but that's fixed now.

"Needs updating, lacks comprehensive care."
Independence Village seems like it was nice before, but it needs some fixing up. I wanted a place that had independent living, assisted living, and memory care all together, but this one didn't have everything I was looking for.

"Medication errors and dishonesty; lacking elderly care."
The new staff often mess up medications. Management isn't trustworthy. Bring a witness.

"Assisted Living Facility Struggles with Staffing and Communication Issues"
This place isn't like it used to be. Lots of workers left. I've been here for two years, needing help showering because of my bad joints. Usually, I get female assistants who are great. But recently, a new person rushed and didn't listen to me. I almost fell because of it. I told them I didn't want her help anymore, and they said okay. But then, they said I had to have either her or a male assistant for my next shower. I said no and asked for a shower the next day. They said okay, but it didn't happen. This kept going on for five days, even though they kept saying it would be okay. My daughter called, and they promised I'd get showered, but it didn't happen. The activities director is still good, though. She's always positive and encourages everyone.

"Great staff, good value, convenient location."
I believe the staff pays close attention. The services you receive for your money are excellent. The food is tasty, and they offer a nice variety. We picked this community because it's close to my house, affordable, and the apartment is conveniently located on the first floor near the dining room. Overall, I think they do a great job, and I'd recommend this community.

"Great Assisted Living at Independence Hill"
Three years ago, my 91-year-old mom needed assisted living. I checked out several places near my home and looked at them carefully. I picked Independence Hill because friends recommended it. It was one of the best choices I’ve made. I visit my mom often and see that it’s a great place. My mom is doing well and likes it a lot. The facility is very nice, clean, and well-kept. The staff is knowledgeable and caring, and the caregivers are amazing. They have lots of fun activities for the residents and serve excellent meals. I highly recommend Independence Hill to anyone looking for assisted living for a loved one.

"Independence Hill: A New Home for Mom"
At 95, it was time to decide if my mom should live alone or move to assisted living. A year ago, my daughter and I toured Independence Hill Assisted Living with Sherrill Perez. I wasn’t ready to make that tough decision yet. But as my mom’s safety became a concern, we knew it was time. An apartment was available, and she had a new home! After 9 months, I asked my mom what she liked most about living there. She quickly mentioned the “homey” atmosphere, sittercize, lovely walking path, dining room, food trips to HEB, musicals, outings, interacting with other residents and staff, and knowing they truly care about helping elderly people. She loves living at Independence Hill and calls it “home!”

"Feels like family, great care for Dad"
Praise the Lord for the staff at Independence Hill Assisted Living! The best part is, I don't have to name names! Every staff member feels like family to us. We trust the care and friendship our 84-year-old Dad gets when we're not there.

"Review of Independence Hill Assisted Living San Antonio, TX"
There aren’t enough words to describe the peace of mind IHAL gives families. From our experience, the care Dad has received is amazing. The staff is ready to help 24/7 with anything needed. Every need is met, and most “wants” too. The menu is great, tastes good, and is healthy. Dad’s Type II Diabetes has almost disappeared since he started eating better and more regularly. His apartment is well maintained, cleaned, and freshened up every week. I don’t know what we would have done if we hadn’t contacted IHAL.

"Top-Notch Staff and Caring Environment"
Moving my mother to assisted living was a tough choice for our family, but I wish we had done it a year sooner. She has really thrived at Independence Hill Assisted Living. She loves joining in the crafts and activities, which are thoughtfully planned for the residents. She also goes on fun outings several times a month. What stands out the most is how every single staff member, from the administration to the dining room to the caregivers, helps my mother every day. I would give them 5 stars in every way because I couldn't find a more caring and genuine team.

"Amazing place with great food and caring staff"
This place is amazing! The food is great, and the staff is super caring. They always go above and beyond. My relative has been here for 14 years, first in independent living and now in assisted living. We've never had a complaint or problem that wasn't fixed right away with care and concern. It's a wonderful place to spend your later years.

"The staff here is great, especially the administrators"
The staff is super friendly and always there to help. I can't even describe how much it means to finally sleep through the night without worrying about a phone call. The place is clean and nice, and there's nothing to complain about when it comes to food or entertainment. The staff, especially the administrators, have been amazing, answering every question we've had. They’ve just been great.

"A Warm, Welcoming Assisted Living Facility"
I visited this place while checking out the Independence Hill apartments to see what the assisted living facility was like in case my grandparents might need it one day. I thought it would be just average, but I was really impressed. The facility feels so relaxing and has a warm, friendly atmosphere. There's an indoor garden with tropical birds that you can interact with. Upstairs, you get an amazing view from the balconies and inside the building, overlooking the city. They provide three meals a day and also have a community kitchen with snacks, so food is never a worry. Everyone seemed happy and smiling. A special touch is the collection of old photos of the residents when they were younger or kids, which is really sweet. My family also loved this place.
