Lakehouse On Dixie

"Friendly Staff, But Room for Improvement"
I think they don't really personalize care for residents. The place feels too cold when I visit. The meals need improvement—they're not balanced or healthy; mostly just sandwiches and chips. The staff is friendly, but there's room for overall improvement.

"Unpleasant Odor from Cleaning Supplies"
I might've visited at the wrong time, but the smell wasn't pleasant. It reeked of cleaning supplies.

"Older but Clean Facility with Kind Staff, Suitable for Dementia Care"
I toured Lakehouse on Dixie, an older facility likely from the 1970s. Despite its age, it was reasonably clean. The staff was friendly and caring, and the residents seemed well-groomed and cared for. It's not luxurious, but it seems like a safe choice for someone needing dementia care.

"Assisted Living Facility Review: Clean, Friendly, Limited Activities During Covid"
During Covid restrictions, visiting was limited to 1 hour weekly. The facility was well-run, clean, and though indoor activities like bingo and television were restricted, the staff remained friendly, courteous, and caring.

"Cozy Atmosphere and Excellent Staff Ratio!"
I appreciate the cozy, homey atmosphere with fewer patients. The staff-to-patient ratio is great.

"Friendly Staff But Potential Fire Hazard at Assisted Living Facility"
I visited this place and their workers were friendly and supportive. They provided answers to all of my inquiries. The environment appeared neat, however the wall paneling seemed like a potential fire risk. This facility would suit those who can move around on their own. I would strongly advise families to check out various locations before making a final decision.

"Lovely Lake View!"
My relative had a tough start but now she's happier. The food's all frozen, maybe 'cause they want residents to feed themselves with simple meals. Caregivers are super nice, and the lake view's amazing. Mom's room has a sliding glass door, which she loves. Visiting often ensures better care. Day shift girls are friendly. The place is old but full of windows and no bad smells.

"Great place but inconvenient location"
We visited Lakehouse on Dixie and thought it was great! If only it wasn't so far and hard to reach because of all the construction nearby, we would've considered moving my mom there. Apart from that, it's a really nice place.

"Feels Like Home for Assisted Living"
Lakehouse on Dixie is a smaller place for seniors who need help. It feels more like a home than the big, institutional places. I think my mother-in-law is getting great care, and her caretakers really care about her. It's a great choice for those who need some help to live a happy life.

"A Cozy Home for Mom"
When my sister and I needed to find a place for our Mom, we were glad to discover Lakehouse on Dixie. It feels like a home, not a huge place, which we liked. Even though Mom wasn't thrilled about going there, her health made it necessary, which was tough for us. It's always clean, and the staff is nice and caring. It's in a good spot, and the lake view is nice for the residents.

"Very Happy with Our Choice for Dad!"
This facility gives great care to residents and keeps families updated. They interact with families to meet both family and resident needs. The place is comfortable, clean, and cozy. There are enough staff members, so your family member gets the attention they need. This is the second facility I’ve chosen for my father, and we are both happy with the choice.

"Not Equipped for Alzheimer's Patient Care"
We moved my mom into this assisted living home, but quickly ran into issues. From the start, the owner was full of complaints. She took issue with the personal bed we brought for mom, telling us we were required to have a hospital-style bed instead. After conforming to that change, we noticed that it took all three daytime staff members to help mom, who was terrified of falling having previously broken six ribs, use the bathroom. The lack of a convenient handrail seemed a major oversight. Despite my mom's Alzheimer's condition, which the owner was aware of, no one from the home evaluated mom's needs in advance. During my visit, the owner seemed to be waiting for something but didn't communicate her expectation. Later, she complained to my sister about not receiving a check from me, something I was never informed about. My priority was visiting my mom and checking on her well-being. Challengingly, we were also contending with our father's stroke and subsequent hospital care. The owner, sensing our mom wasn't fitting in, gave us a 30-day notice and a refund option if we found a better fit sooner. And we did - another home where they treat my mom with respect, her mobility has improved dramatically, and on good days, it only takes one person to help her. Please don't think I'm out to make this place look bad - the staff there were friendly and the house was clean - but I don't think they are equipped to handle Alzheimer's patients. My advice is to visit with your parent and have them evaluated by the owner before you decide to move them in there. If it's a good fit, great. If not, you might find yourself in a rush to find a new place like we did.

"Wasted Money and Stress: Lakehouse on Dixie's Lack of Care"
Think twice before choosing the Lakehouse on Dixie for your elderly loved ones. We wanted the best for our mom who suffers from Lewy Body Dementia. The experience was anything but good once she moved in, a Lakehouse staff member, called only a few hours after we left mom. She claimed that it required three workers to help our mother and insisted that a hospital bed was necessary. After we made arrangements for a hospital bed, she called again within the next 48 hours. Staff member said they couldn't manage our mother's condition and recommended moving her to a nursing home. Taking her advice, we moved mom to a much better place on the fourth day. The new home had trained staff capable of handling dementia patients and didn't require a team of three for assistance. On top of that, the new place already had a hospital bed. We wasted $400 renting a hospital bed for two nights at the Lakehouse. Despite all these frustrations, Staff member still felt entitled to charge us a community fee of $1,000 at the Lakehouse. She later gave back half of it after some discussion. Staff member should've first evaluated our mom's condition before letting us move her in. This wasn't a pleasant experience, and we definitely won't use their services in the future. Thankfully, our mother is now in capable hands, with a caring and experienced crew looking after her.

"Had to Pay for Full Month Despite 4 Days"
My dad wasn't at Lakehouse On Dixie for long before he passed away. His kidneys had failed, and I don't think the staff noticed his low urine output. I wonder if things would have been different if they had. I had to pay for a full month even though he was only there for 4 days. The staff initially said they'd prorate his stay, but when he had to come back for hospice, they denied a refund. Overall, I'm unhappy with their lack of attention to my dad's needs.

"Warm, caring staff made it feel like home for our loved one."
I visited many places before choosing Lakehouse on Dixie for my mother-in-law. We were very happy with the care she received for over 2 years. This place has a warm, family-like atmosphere, and the staff treats the residents as family. They truly care about everyone living there. We were lucky to find this place for her when she could no longer live alone. She felt at home and considered the caregivers her family. Even when her health worsened and we went to the hospital often, she wanted to go back to Lakehouse on Dixie. I highly recommend this care home to anyone looking for a place for their loved one.

"Clean, Quiet, Pricey Assisted Living: Worth Considering"
This place is really nice and clean, plus it's quiet. The only thing is it's a bit more expensive than what we can pay. We'll think about it though.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
The place looks really nice and it's easy to find on Dixie, just off I-45. The prices seem fair, and the private rooms are pretty spacious. When I visited, I met a nurse who works with Hospice. She said good things about the place without me asking, which was nice. But here's the big problem: If there's a hurricane, they want family members to pick up the residents. That could be tough for my parent, who's not doing well.

"Nice Facility, Not Ideal for Independent Elderly"
This place is really nice, but I'm not sure if it's right for my mother-in-law. She's always lived by herself, so she might find it hard to adjust.
