Landon Ridge at Kingwood

"Good staff, positive reviews."
I recommend this place. The friendly staff chatted with us during our visit. They've been there a while. I chose it based on Medicare and other reviews.

"Mixed Experience at Landon Ridge Assisted Living Facility"
Mom settled in well at Landon Ridge. Residents and staff are friendly and supportive. However, nursing care is lacking; medication management is good but shower assistance is unreliable and late.

"Disappointing Assisted Living Facility Lacks Quality Staff and Food"
The assisted living place changes staff a lot, so the food and medical care suffer. They claim to have a chef, but the food isn't suitable for seniors; it's mostly frozen and fried, not good for dietary needs.

"Poor Medication Handling and Slow Response to Emergencies"
They really need to be more careful with giving out medicine. And if your family member might fall, pay extra attention to that too. It took them more than 4 hours to respond when there was a fall, and their emergency system didn't even work. I can't suggest this place to other people.

"Responsive Communication and Overall Satisfaction at Assisted Living Community"
I haven't had any problems with the community, and everything was fine before. Communication is good, especially regarding COVID. I would suggest this community to others.

" "Always Double-Check Your Contract at Landon Ridge!""
Double-Check Your Contract!! If you're thinking about trusting Landon Ridge in Kingwood with your loved one's care, do a BIG favor for yourself and Double-Check Your Contract!! They demand a 14 day notice before ending your stay - and this INCLUDES DEATH!! So unless you have inside information on the exact day your loved one is going to die, expect to pay between $1000-$2000 in FEES for a sudden death! NO EXCEPTIONS!! What a low blow. This place has NO DIGNITY and NO MORAL CODE when it comes to handing a grieving son a bill for the 'short notice'. It's like a DEATH PENALTY and a shameless way to squeeze out one last payment. Their 'friendly' advice was to Double-Check Your Contract. So here I am, sharing this warning so you do not also fall into this very hole we did. While my mom was living there, Landon Ridge saw a management shift due to many complaints. This was supposed to fix things thanks to a "fresh team", but it turned out to be an utter flop. Don't look here for an honest place. This joint should not be on your list.

"Mixed Feelings About Our Assisted Living Tour"
Everyone was really nice when I visited for a tour. They were good at answering my questions and showing me around. My parents wanted to keep their king-size bed, but the bedroom in the apartment wasn't big enough. Also, they don't need assisted living yet. Overall, the tour was okay, but they couldn't meet our needs.

"Bedrooms not quite right for our parents."
We visited the Isle at Kingwood. They had a pleasant presentation and provided lunch. However, the accommodations didn't quite match what we needed for our parents—specifically, separate bedrooms from the living area.

"Mixed Feelings About Isle at Kingwood Assisted Living Facility"
My parents stay here. Mostly good, but could improve. They promise things but don't always do them, like making keys for their room. More staff needed on weekends; sometimes they're not ready when we visit. It takes too long for help to arrive when they press their necklace in case of emergency. The place is nice, and the people are friendly, but they need more staff to take care of everyone. Activities are starting slowly. The food is good, and the presentation looks nice. We picked Isle at Kingwood because it looked the best. During the tour, the staff greeted residents by name, which was nice.

"A wonderful community for seniors"
Mom likes joining in some of the activities they have. The staff are good at getting her involved. They really seem to care about the residents. The staff are friendly and excited. She enjoys the food a lot. The place is well designed and looks nice. Most of the residents seem happy living here. I would recommend this place without any doubt.

"Inadequate Care at Assisted Living facility Leads to Tragedy"
My dad stayed in this facility for just a few days before he died. During this time, a machine that was supposed to help him move from his bed to his chair broke and caused him to fall. This incident wasn't recorded in his files, regardless of my mom, who saw the fall, specifically requesting that it be entered. The staff carelessly moved him from a chair back to his bed on the day before he died, which was distressful. The next day, he was taken to the hospital because of his breathing problems, where he passed away. The only interaction we had with Emeritus was a call the next morning to ask my mom if she wanted to keep his room by paying for it. They hadn't even realized that we had already removed his stuff from his room the previous night.

"Satisfied with improvements, but short staffed. More entertainment desired."
I've been pretty happy with this place. They're working on fixing the laundry problems, which is good. Sometimes it's hard to find someone because they don't have enough staff. They bring in entertainment for the assisted living side, but I'm not sure if they do the same for memory care. I feel like there's more fun stuff happening for the assisted living folks. It's a bit pricier here, but the place is nicer, so I guess it's worth it. You also get more privacy, which is nice. The staff is pretty friendly. Honestly, this is the best facility I've ever seen. Kim Brown, who manages the memory care, is fantastic. Plus, it's been cleaner lately, which is a big improvement.

"Some Upsides, Some Downsides"
This place has some problems. The people are nice but sometimes unsure. It's clean, no worries there. The staff changes a lot. We had big problems at first, but talked to managers. They wear pendants here, but sometimes help is slow. Some staff are better than others. The food is really good, nicely presented. But it's pricey and I need extra help from outside. It looks nice and new. It's good overall, but new owners need to fix things.

"The Half-Story Memory Care Studio: Safe but Bland"
She lives in a half-story assisted living studio with memory care. It costs $4600, plus extra for dog size. The routine includes movies and popcorn, but overall, it sounds a bit bland. The terrace is safe.

"Caring but food needs improvement; activities are enjoyable."
The fun things they do here sound great. I’d rate the food a 3. It's too salty, not good if you have heart problems. Also, what they serve doesn't match what they say on the menu. They do a good job taking care of you.

"Great Care for Dementia Patients"
After my mom was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia, we needed a place that could take care of her and keep her busy with good activities. Emeritus Memory Care was perfect. It took some time for the caregivers to get to know Mom and for her to trust them, but once she did, they were awesome. They were kind, caring, and had a great sense of humor. Mom got better under their care as she got used to the routines. I really liked the regular updates from the staff. The monthly support meetings were super helpful and let me meet other residents' families and share our experiences.

"Mixed Feelings About Emeritus Assisted Living Facility"
When I first toured Emeritus, I was impressed. The facility is only a year old and it's super tidy and bright. The consultant boasted about their meals and recognized her caregiving team. My mother-in-law has been staying in the memory care unit but things haven't been the best. When I visit, there's not always someone at the front desk. Also, the unit director has rarely been present when I've visited. She seems to have two jobs there and spends most of her time focusing on her other role. The supportive staff, however, has been kind to my mother-in-law. They truly care about her and she thinks of them as pals. Yet the food is not too pleasing and it's been a common complaint from my mother-in-law. I'm not sure if I could suggest this place to a friend.

"Careful staff, pleasant environment, but some reservation and seating concerns."
This place is nice, looks good, and the people are friendly. One thing my family member didn't like was they had to sit where they were told for meals. She wanted to choose who to sit with. At first, she ended up sitting alone a lot. Then, she got sick and had to go to the hospital. We're not happy about paying to keep her room while she's not there, but we don't have a choice.

"Lackluster Care and Supervision Noted"
My dad stayed at this facility for about three weeks before he passed away. Frankly, I wasn't impressed with their care. My dad had a fall and it went unnoticed. The second time he fell, there was no nurse present. Furthermore, there were no records of their check-ins or any other happenings - it was as if they weren't keeping track. Despite not requiring it, they placed him in memory care. Despite this, they didn't extend any proper care for his memory issues - not a single session or group activity. He ended up spending his days just watching TV.

"Assisted Living Experience"
My dad hasn't been there long, but it's good. He was in a place with more help, but here is just assisted living. The care is a bit different, but we pay the same. I think they're trying and they care about the residents.
