"Great meals, staff, but needs better planning and pool info."

Meals are perfect, which is why we stick with this place. The staff is always pleasant and on task. When things go wrong, management is open to meetings and corrections. We were told last October that the pool would be ready for water aerobics, but now it's under construction, and we can't get any answers about it. Activities are only advertised daily with a printout at the desk that residents must remember to pick up. There's no advance schedule, so planning is hard. Religious services were promised, but no transportation is provided. They don’t do door-to-door advertising for activities, so residents have to figure things out themselves. Wine parties happen three times a week and are popular with a select group. Cliques among residents make it hard for newcomers to join the community.

"Mixed Experience with Assisted Living Facility"

We had a tough time getting started at this place. They made a lot of mistakes when we were trying to get our loved one settled in, which ended up delaying their move-in by more than a week. Plus, it was hard to get ahold of the nursing director, which caused some problems with medications. We thought about moving our loved one out, but it was too much trouble. However, the caregivers who directly help our loved one are really nice and helped them feel comfortable. We hope things will get better from here.

"Great place for pet owners with private courtyard access"

We picked Arbor Terrace Lakeway because of their nice apartment. It has its own door to a fenced courtyard, so my mom can easily take her dog outside. I’d definitely suggest this place to others.

"Nice facility, too far from home, overall very good."

We chose not to use Arbor Terrace Lakeway because it was too far from our house. However, the place itself looked nice and seemed very good overall.

"Great care, many activities, pricey but worth it."

We had a bit of a rough start with her meds, but now that she has settled in, things are going great. Poet's Walk is a memory care facility, and we liked their focus on that. It’s smaller, offering more personalized and intimate care. They have many activities, so she’s not in her room much. It’s quite pricey, but the quality of care is excellent and the staff is very knowledgeable. I’d definitely recommend it for memory care.

"Friendly, welcoming place where staff remember your loved one"

I would recommend Arbor Terrace Lakeway because it's a nice and welcoming place. My mom is getting comfortable, and all the staff know her by name.

"Quiet, nice setting; needs less salty food, better activities."

Holiday Renaissance is a very quiet community, which our loved one really likes. There are a lot of trees and nature around the building, and her apartment is a nice size, which is a positive. For improvements, the food could use less salt, as it's a common complaint among residents. The activities have a nice variety, but they could be better planned and include more encouragement.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

They did a few things well, and the facility was clean. However, we faced issues with our loved one's medication. Their lack of understanding about her pain levels, combined with her Alzheimer's, created problems. We had to discuss this repeatedly. Once hospice took over, things improved slightly. I wouldn't recommend it for someone with stage 4 cancer and Alzheimer's. Overall, it was decent.

"Nice facility, good location, but too far for us."

We had a great tour at Arbor Terrace. It’s a very nice facility, conveniently located next to a hospital. However, the location is too far for us.

"Nice Facility, But Might Not Be Right for Mom"

This is a very nice place and it's next to a hospital in a busy area. It has multiple levels and lots of great features. It's pretty big and nice, but my mom might not feel comfortable here. The courtyards are really nice and so are the activities. The place is very well run and organized.

"Unattended Residents and Poor Amenities at Assisted Living Home"

I work as a personal caregiver for an individual living at the harbor and my experience has not been positive. I've been requesting help all week to handle a swarm of wasps gathering in the courtyard, but it seems to fall on deaf ears. A large number of the residents I know here aren't getting the attention they need, which is concerning. I've had several discussions with the director, but it hasn't helped. He says he has a background in senior living, but from what I observe, I don't think it's true. There's a clear lack of personal interest in the well-being of the residents. To top it off, the food quality is way below standard, especially considering the expensive living cost here. I believe the residents deserve far better care and comfort for the high rent they are paying. The management team should feel guilty for what they're doing. I can only hope they don't have the same experience when they eventually need similar assistance.

"Wonderful Community with Caring Staff and Great Atmosphere"

The review from the Lakeway Family member seems to be about the wrong place. The Harbor is a lovely community with a welcoming lobby I’m not sure where that comment came from and a staff that truly cares about the residents. Everyone here from the Director to the nurses and caregivers values each resident and works hard to make every day as enjoyable and comfortable as possible.

"Top Choice for Assisted Living Must Tour!"

We were really happy with our tour of Harbor! The resident coordinator, [Removed], went out of their way to answer all our questions and address our concerns. The place was clean, stylish, and comfortable. Plus, it had an indoor pool, which none of the other places had. The staff and residents both looked happy and involved. If you're looking for assisted care, this facility should definitely be at the top of your list!

Beautiful facilities, friendly staff, and an indoor pool. Must-see!

"High Costs, Low Care: A Disappointing Harbor Experience"

The Harbor was quite visually pleasing and we had really expected it to be the best fit for our loved one. If you decide to use this location, it's vital that you stay fully involved in their management and care. We recently had to relocate our loved one from The Harbor due to numerous reasons, primarily issues concerning medication. Prescriptions were filled in a haphazard manner, leading to several frustrating phone calls. We sadly discovered that our loved one's declining temperament was partially due to missed medication. Meals were typically cold and incorrect by the time they were finally served. If you opt out of using their in-house doctors, transportation becomes a problem. The front lobby is not warm nor welcoming. Don't count on the staff to engage with you. The fees are high, but don't reflect superior care. The quality of our experience was less than what we felt we deserved given the cost. Be aware there will be a yearly price hike.

"Great care and location, highly recommended for extra support"

This place has a lovely location. I recommended it to my neighbor for their mother, who needs a bit more care. The caregivers are welcoming and kind.

"Large aging facility, limited personal attention"

I visited Harbor at Lakeway and it looked quite old and a bit rundown. It's a large place. I didn't feel that my family member would get enough care there.

"Lovely Place, But Too Pricey"

This place is really pretty, but it’s more than we can afford. It’s a pretty new spot, only opened up a few years ago, so all the stuff there is still shiny and fresh. The people working there are super nice and know a lot. They have all sorts of fun things for folks living there to do so they’re never bored.

"Warning: The Harbor Shows Gross Neglect and Lack of Care"

I really wish I could rate this place lower. The Harbor simply can't provide even the most basic personal care - like reminding residents to change their clothes or take a bath. Discovered my loved one in the same clothes, including underwear and socks, after an entire week without a bath or shower. They claim they can follow doctor-ordered diets, but they don't, and this negatively affects health. If your priority is your loved one having a happy hour three to five times a week, then this place might be for you. Frequent staff changes mean there's no stable care or communication. The absolute worst part is how the staff ignores complaints about care, and starts targeting the residents and families, even going as far as to make up false reasons to evict you. They don't seem to understand what families and caregivers go through when a loved one is in such a facility. It's extremely heartbreaking for those who live there.

"Friendly, But Not Smell-Free Tour of Assisted-Living Facility"

The place looked tidy during our visit, albeit it had a smell. We met some friendly folks there. Interestingly, they have a beautician and a pool right there.

"Mom Is Happy Here"

My mom has had a good experience here. I chose this community because it's convenient and close to me. The meals are okay for her, and she actively participates in the activities they offer. Her apartment feels comfortable and cozy. The housekeeping is a bit slow, and it seems the facility is understaffed. Overall, I'd recommend this community to family and friends if needed.

"Still Getting Used to Harbor at Lakeway"

I am still getting used to living at Harbor at Lakeway. They are slow to respond when I press my pendant, and the food takes a while to arrive. Sometimes the food is good. They keep the place clean, and there's a beautiful fountain in the lobby. Some of the residents aren't very friendly. They do have daily activities.

"Great Care for Our Dad"

This place is really nice for our dad. We're happy with how the staff takes care of him. He enjoys joining in the activities and seems to like the meals. We would recommend this place for other families looking for good care for their loved ones.

"Disappointing Tour, Felt More Like Visiting a Hotel!"

The tour of this assisted living place didn't impress me much. Instead of feeling homey and welcoming, it felt like I had walked into a hotel. Everything seemed temporary, not the kind of place I'd want my mom to settle down in. The lady who showed me around, could have done a much better job. She didn't know much and seemed in a rush to get it over with.

"Feels right"

So far, everything's going well at The Harbor. My mother-in-law has only been there for a week, and she loves it. She moved from an independent senior apartment, and she's enjoying the extra care. My only concern is that they should hire one more person to assist in the dining area. It takes quite a while for our food orders to be taken and for the food to arrive at the table. The kitchen seems understaffed during the three dinners we've had with her. Overall, it seems like a nice place.

"Food Service Slow, puts Diabetic Family Member at Risk"

The food they're serving definitely needs to get better. Plus, my family member has to wait more than an hour for her dinner, which isn't safe because she has diabetes. But she does like the activities they offer and is taking part in a bunch of them.

"Excellent Choice"

I've visited every community in the area and several in Austin. I know each place is unique with its own choices for apartments, dining, activities, and care. The Harbor at Lakeway stands out because they always help with any concerns and do so with a friendly attitude! I really like this community and couldn’t ask for a more caring and dedicated management team. While it may never feel exactly like “home” and no place is perfect, The Harbor is truly an excellent choice. We’re happy we found it!

"Settling In and Loving It!"

I visited the community and liked how everything was arranged. The tour guide was friendly and knew a lot. The place was clean, and my room was nice. Yesterday, my family helped me set up my furniture, and it looks great. They offer meal plans and activities on site. The staff has been nice and communicates well.

"Great Staff, Communication, and Care at The Harbor"

My 90-year-old mom recently moved to the Harbor, so she’s still adjusting. However, everyone on staff has been really friendly, and they communicate well with each other. We’re sure she’ll get great, personalized care there.

"Mom Is Very Busy With Activities All Day Long"

My mom is doing awesome at this place. She's settled in really well. The community looks great, and everything is always clean. The staff is caring and takes good care of her. She's super busy with all the activities they offer. The food is good too—they serve well-balanced meals. Seeing her happy makes me happy. I'd recommend this community.

"Great care, but moving closer to home. Highly recommend"

My mom was at Harbor at Lakeway for just 2 weeks before she fell and broke her shoulder. The staff were very kind and took great care of her. The activities could be better in terms of getting residents involved. She liked it there, and the only reason she isn’t going back is because we’re moving her closer to us.

"Happy with Our Choice at Harbor at Lakeway"

I am so impressed with the friendly faces and helpful managers. I've visited many places, and they are not all the same. We are really happy we chose the Harbor at Lakeway and would tell anyone to check out this community. It’s really nice. We are so pleased!

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living: Room for Improvement"

This place is okay, but lately, it's been kinda rough. I've had some problems, especially during the holidays. I wish the staff would talk more about my medical needs. Sometimes, we don't understand each other well. But, besides that, they've been pretty good with everything else.

"Where We Found True Care and Happiness"

We decided to move to The Harbor after checking out many places and have been here for a few months now. We read all the reviews, talked to a lot of people, and came back to The Harbor because we felt they really cared about us. We’ve been very happy here! Every place has some issues, but when they listen, follow up, and truly care, that’s when you know it’s the right place. If you don’t live here, you can’t really give a fair opinion. We’ve even recommended The Harbor to several friends in Lakeway, and some of them have moved in.

The Harbor at Lakeway is making changes with their staff. Once everything is sorted out, I believe it will be a fantastic place to live.

"Facility Struggles to Find Its Footing"

This place is having some hiccups. -They're trying to get more people to move in, even though they don't have enough staff or a set schedule -They can't seem to keep workers who know what they're doing, -Workers have to do more than just take care of the elderly folks, like clean rooms, plan events, and look after pets and bunnies.... -The workers who stick around are working a lot of long hours. The place looks good, but they need to fix some issues before more folks move in. -Some folks in charge need to have their decision making skills looked at. -Workers are quitting and going to other senior living places that are opening up in Austin/Cedar Park.

"Nice Place with a Small Check-In Issue"

Harbor at Lakeway is really nice. The only problem is that visitors have to log in and out, which can be a hassle. Sometimes the nurses aren’t at the front desk because they’re busy. But that’s a small issue. Overall, the place is in a good spot and we’ve had a positive experience.

"Great experience touring Harbor; awaiting care level details."

My mom and I visited the Harbor in January and September. On Friday, 9/25, Molly and Keisha came to VIBRA Rehab Hospital to check what kind of care my mom needs. We’re waiting to find out the level of care she will need.

"Excellent care and support, with room for quicker phone responses!"

The staff here is super caring, friendly, and upbeat everyone, from the administrators to the front desk, caregivers, and maintenance. They learned her name in just a few days! The facility is beautiful and comfortable, with nice common areas and well-designed rooms. The food is great, and the prices are very reasonable considering the quality and care. They offer lots of support, services, and activities, and the staff even comes to the rooms to remind residents about activities and help them get there if needed. The only thing that could be better is the response time to phone calls, especially for information requests.

"Amazing Care and Friendly Community"

Harbor at Lakeway has awesome care. The people living here are super friendly and nice. They love to hang out and socialize. I took a video during my visit, and a staff member played the piano for everyone. It was beautiful. Everyone here is really close. Residents are watched over carefully with just a push of a button. Anything we've asked for, they've done. They have trips to the grocery store and even go out for lunch! I can't say enough good things about this place.

They’ve been great. I don’t have any worries right now. It’s clean, and the staff is nice. The food is good, and everything has worked out well. We’re really happy with them. I’d give them a high rating.

"Friendly staff but food and activities need improvement"

My aunt really likes the people at Harbor at Lakeway, both the staff and the other residents. However, she’s mentioned that the food isn’t as good as it should be and the food service is a bit slow, which might be because they’re short on staff in that area. The activities could use some improvement On the bright side, they are very responsive and really listen to and value any feedback. Overall, everything has been pretty good.

"Understaffed Facility Ignores Promises and Doctor's Orders"

My good friend with Parkinson's moved in here recently. They were told that if they pressed the call button, someone would be there in no more than 5 minutes. It actually took 23 minutes. This place doesn't have enough staff, but they keep letting more folks move in just to make more money. The doctor's orders for medications were also ignored. My friend really struggled with the decision to leave their home, and this place hasn't made it any easier with all their let-downs. If you can't take care of the people you have, stop adding more!

"Kind and Respectful Care with Heartfelt Attention"

Our close family friend has been involved with this place for four months while it was getting ready to open, and he’s been there for a week now. When he gives a compliment, he really means it he doesn’t give them out easily. Just tonight, without me asking, he told me that the Harbor staff are the kindest people he’s ever met and that they treat him so well. I’ve spent a lot of time there, and I can't find the right words to show how grateful I am. Our friend is very special to us. We’re so glad he is listened to and that the staff helps with his specific needs and worries. What I love about Harbor is that they treat him with respect and provide the emotional safety he needs and deserves.

"A Fresh and Convenient Assisted Living Facility"

The assisted living facility is very new and beautiful. You can walk to Lakeway hospital, and the rooms have built-in units and a full refrigerator. My mom needs some storage space. There's a small therapy pool on-site, and laundry is done every week. The outdoor areas have TVs, fans, and nice furniture, with breezeways to sit in. It's a two-story facility.

1/5.00 Published 10 years ago

"If you truly care for kin, consider elsewhere"

I'd suggest searching elsewhere - the facility's personnel aren't diligent to residents and the proprietors seem concerned primarily with profits.

"Great Place with Excellent Care, Still Not Open Yet"

The place looks great and has a really good approach. It’s really reassuring to know she’ll be well taken care of. It’s not open yet, so I’m not entirely sure, but the customer service and care seem excellent.
