"Communication Lacking: Assisted Living Concerns"

The workers don't call back. I'm not sure what I'm getting for what I pay. They haven't explained what assisted living is. My loved one only sees staff if something's wrong or they ask.

"Clean and Recommendable Assisted Living Community"

Lyndale Abilene community impressed us with its cleanliness. The rooms were good, and we encountered no issues. Unfortunately, our loved one disliked the food. Still, we'd likely recommend this community to others.

"Mixed Experience During Pandemic"

Before the pandemic, our experience was mostly positive. However, because independent and assisted living share the same building, both are now in complete lockdown. The staff is great, and the food has good variety. But it’s been tough on my parents mentally due to isolation. I’d recommend this community to other families if there wasn’t a pandemic.

"Clean, friendly, good food, and very happy resident"

We moved my mother-in-law to Lyndale a year ago, and she loves it. The place is very clean, the staff is great, the food is good, and she is very happy there.

"Fantastic staff and food, feels like a big family!"

This place is fantastic! The staff is very courteous and helpful. Everything has worked out wonderfully, and both Mom and I are excited. If I ever need a place to stay, this would be my first choice. The staff is great, the food is good, and you always feel like you're part of a big family.

"Great Team Makes Moving Dad Easy"

I am moving my 94-year-old dad into Lyndale Abilene Assisted Living. [Name removed], [name removed], [name removed], and the whole team have been awesome in making this move easy.

"Disappointment and Failings at Assisted-Living Facility"

Aside from two members of staff who my dad liked, I have nothing positive to say about this facility. The meal quality was poor - the chicken was so tough I couldn't even cut into it. Despite lots of complaints, nothing was done. I felt awful as I lived too far away to step in and help him. To top it all off, there was a bed bug infestation. I don't blame the folks at Lyndale for the bugs appearing, but the way they dealt with the issue was really poor. They didn't update the community, and there was no info on how difficult the infestation would be to manage. My dad was disgusted and had to be moved out for several days. Ultimately, we decided to relocate him, but we are still unsure if we transported any of the bugs with us. I was extremely disappointed and upset with the management. I feel like they forgot that their main responsibility is to ensure that the residents are safe, living in healthy conditions, and that they are looking out for their best interests. I applaud the two staff members my dad liked, they were the only shining light in this place.

"Horrendous Food and Bed Bug Infestation: A Careless Management"

Besides two great staff members that my dad absolutely loved, I find it hard to say anything positive about this facility. Let's talk about the food for instance - it was downright unpalatable. I knew something was off when I literally couldn't cut into my chicken. Despite numerous complaints, nothing was done. It was a terrible feeling seeing my dad in such condition and being too far away to offer any help. But it was the bed bug infestation that finally crossed the line for us. I am not blaming Lyndale for the bugs' arrival, but the way they dealt with the situation was far from acceptable. There were no proper notifications, no reassurances, and no useful information about eliminating these pests. My dad was horrified and had to leave his room for several days. Eventually, we had to move him out not knowing whether we were transporting any bugs with us. I was greatly disappointed and furious with the management for not recognizing that their main duty is to ensure the comfort, safety and wellbeing of the residents. A huge thanks to the only two staff members who earned my dad's respect and affection.

"We Really Liked This Place During Our Tour"

We toured this place and really liked it. It was one of our top choices. However, another place ended up being a slightly better fit for our loved one’s current situation. Still, this was a nice option and came in a close second.

"Disappointing Dining Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

The food isn't as good as it used to be. For old folks, food is super important. The way they serve it looks nice, but I end up eating less every time I visit my mom. They have the same chef, so that's not the issue, it seems. I think they might be using a bunch of frozen veggies and cooking them too much. There should always be another option for dinner besides chicken. I'm starting to wonder if they're using all pre-packaged food now, which they didn't before. The folks who live there aren't happy, and they came for the food originally, they say. Now, my mom's in a two-bedroom place and getting fewer services and perks than they told us were part of the deal. I'm starting to question things, but overall, it's a nice place.

"Declining Meal Quality Raises Concerns at Assisted Living Facility"

The food isn't as good as it used to be. This is important for old people. The way they make it look is nice, but I'm not eating much when I visit my mom. They still have the same chef, so that's not the problem, it seems. I think they might be using a lot of frozen veggies and cooking them too much. There should always be another choice besides chicken. I'm starting to think maybe they're using pre-packaged food now, which they didn't do before. The people living there aren't happy, and many of them came because of the food, they say. Mom is now in a 2-bedroom place and getting fewer things than they said she would. I'm starting to have doubts, but it's still a nice place.
