"Grateful for help with communication, upset about visit restrictions."
Although Covid-19 caused many issues, [name] was very helpful in letting me communicate with my mother. She had dementia and couldn’t use a smartphone or tablet by herself. I sent her a phone, but [name] connected me with her using [name]’s iPad. This was my only way to communicate since in-person visits weren’t allowed, and I live in Alaska. I will always be grateful for the care my mother received and the help we got to stay in touch. I am upset that in-person visits were not allowed while my mom was dying and I couldn’t see her for the last year and a half. Since I couldn’t visit, I can’t answer some of the ratings listed.

"Such a Wonderful Place for Personalized, Top-Notch Care"
My Great Uncle, who was like a grandpa to me, got amazing care here. He was sent from the hospital on hospice because of a severe bedsore that reached his spine from another place. At this facility, they took care of his wound twice a day, and it actually started to heal. His pain and anxiety were always managed well, not just with medicine but by talking and praying with him too. He had more personal attention here since there were only three patients compared to hundreds at other places. The care at Miramar was top-notch. His bed was always clean, he was clean, and he got fresh clothes every day. They even shaved him daily. When he was too tired to chew, they pureed his food so he could keep eating until the end. I was kept informed about everything. I can't say enough good things about this place. They took better care of him than I could have at home.

"Grateful for the excellent care at Miramar Home Care"
I am really happy with the care my mother gets at Miramar Home Care. When I first walked in, I felt very calm because the place is super clean and really nice. The owners are great to work with, and the caregivers are so friendly. They treat the patients like family. They give my mother a shower every day, feed her, take care of her health, and speak to her kindly. I'm so thankful I found Miramar Home Care.

"Top-Notch Care and Safety at Miramar Facility"
My husband and I looked at several care facilities before choosing Miramar for my dad. Even though we thought he would be okay at the other places, we were sure Miramar was the best option. The facility is designed with people with disabilities in mind, like wide hallways and easy-to-use bathrooms and showers. The owners follow all the state rules and regulations and keep everything spotlessly clean. We believe my dad is getting the best and safest care possible during his final days at Miramar. As a former RN who has seen many care facilities, I’ve never found one with such high standards and dedication as Miramar. It may cost a bit more, but it’s absolutely worth it for the excellent care my dad gets.

"Smaller Home"
This place was nice, but I didn't think it was the best fit for my mom. It was smaller than the other places we saw, but the staff was friendly and the facility was clean.

The staff at Miramar are kind and really care about the residents. They do everything they can to make sure everyone’s needs are met, treating each person like family. The place is always clean, and the residents look great. Our dad had been unhappy at other places, but at Miramar, he was content. We could relax when we left, knowing he was in good hands. "Miramar Home Care, Inc. Epitomizes What Eldercare is All About ... Tender Loving Care!"
Laura and Reuben Dorca, the owners, along with their staff, are incredibly caring and considerate! Our family is deeply grateful to God for leading us to Miramar Home Care, Inc. They've exceeded our expectations in meeting my precious Mom's personal and healthcare needs. Having been responsible for Mom's care for over 11 years, I've encountered nearly every situation. But at Miramar, their word is their bond! It's an immeasurable blessing to finally have our prayers answered. Within just two weeks, we've witnessed Mom 'coming back to life.' She's more responsive, her color has improved significantly, and the sparkle in her eyes has returned. The staff's love for my Mom is heartwarming. I see it during every visit, not only for my Mom but also for the other residents. Most importantly, Mom feels at home. She adores her beautiful room, which overlooks a lovely landscaped front yard. The Miramar family is now an extension of our own, and we're overflowing with gratitude!

"Shocked Mirimar is more business than care."
I'd advise against choosing Mirimar for a caring spot for your loved ones. It's shocking they're even in the caregiving industry, since it feels like just a cold, uncaring business. I don't suggest you pick Mirimar – it's tough enough making these kinds of choices.

"Outstanding care for Mom at Miramar"
Miramar Home Care has been a blessing for our mom. After she fractured her hip, we needed the best care for her. She couldn’t walk and needed total assistance due to her dementia and pulmonary fibrosis. From the moment we visited Miramar, we knew it was the right place. The owners and the entire staff are knowledgeable, caring, and attentive. They even helped us set up hospice care. The home is always clean, organized, and the residents are well cared for. They take their time to feed Mom, and she’s happy and feels spoiled. We’re so thankful for Miramar and highly recommend it to anyone needing care for a loved one.

"Like Family for My Mom"
My mom had Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. At first, she wandered around, was restless, hallucinated, and had early signs of incontinence. Ruben and Laura took care of her from the start and always kept me updated on her daily life. For over three years, Mom was treated like family. The house was always spotless, and even though some other residents had similar issues, there was never any bad smell. They cooked home meals and gave her medications as needed. Mom’s hallucinations got worse and scared her a lot. She needed special medication to help with her fears. Finding the right dosage was tough because she reacted differently to each one. Laura and Ruben were there to comfort her and kept me informed so we could adjust her medication with the doctor. When Mom fell and broke her pelvis, she was sent to a rehab center that was terrible. They didn’t watch or clean her properly, and she was left scared and alone. We insisted she return to Miramar, where Laura and Ruben were thrilled to have her back. They took fantastic care of her, and she quickly began to improve as they helped her learn to walk again. I wouldn’t recommend any place other than Miramar. They went above and beyond, feeding Mom even if it took an hour per meal when she wouldn’t eat. The love and care they gave her were exceptional. I will always have a special place in my heart for Laura and Ruben.

"We Found the Perfect Place!"
My sister and I needed a place for our dad who had dementia, and we had to find it quickly. He was living in Dallas, and I had just moved to Canyon Lake, TX, which is about 45 miles away from Converse, TX. We found Miramar Home Care in Converse through A Place for Mom, and it was a great choice! Miramar Home Care is truly like living in a loving home with 24-hour care provided by Laura and Ruben Dorca. When we first visited, we were impressed by how fresh and clean the house smelled. It was nicely furnished, fully accessible for those with disabilities, and had a security system on both the front and back doors. Laura and Ruben were very professional but also caring towards my dad's needs. We were so happy with our choice. They took great care of my father with respect and kindness, handling everything from meals and medication to bathroom needs and bathing. He never had a bed sore. We got to know Laura and Ruben and consider them friends. When my father passed away, I found comfort in knowing he wasn't alone, even though I wasn’t there.

"What a Caring Place for Moms!"
Miramar Home Care in Converse, Texas, is an incredible place for moms. My mother-in-law stayed there when she was diagnosed with leukemia and pneumonia. Rueben and Laura, the caregivers, were so kind and attentive. They made sure she ate well, stayed clean, and took her medicine on time. They even worked closely with the hospice nurses. I highly recommend them for anyone who wants a personal touch in caring for their loved ones. Thank you!

"Finding the Best Care for Loved Ones at Miramar and Silver Stone"
I wanted to share my experience with Miramar and Silver Stone. In late 2008, my life changed when my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. My dad was her main caregiver, but his health got worse, so I had to step in. Finding care for my parents was a huge challenge, and I wasn’t ready for it emotionally or mentally. I started looking at assisted living and nursing homes, but I was really disappointed with what I saw. I prayed for help, and my dad wanted to be close enough to visit my mom every day. My prayers were answered when I found Miramar and Silver Stone right across the street from each other. Vicky and John took great care of my mom at Silver Stone, and Ruben and Laura looked after my dad until he passed away in February 2013. My mom is still at Silver Stone and is in excellent health. I truly believe it was a blessing to find such caring people. Seeing the lack of care in other places made me want something better for my parents. At Miramar and Silver Stone, they were treated like family. I visit them three times a week, and they had privacy and respect, which meant a lot. My dad, a retired Army Lt. Colonel, was very proud, and I can’t say enough good things about the caregivers. They have real compassion and concern for their residents, providing the best care possible. I feel very lucky to have found these wonderful homes and would recommend them to anyone in need of similar care. I only hope that when my time comes, I’ll find care as good as this.

"Harsh Experience With Dad At Assisted Living, Better Options Available"
My dad is always thought of as a gentle, fun-loving, silly man. He had been living in a top-notch place before he got to Miramar approximately 19 months ago, and we never observed or heard anything from the workers that went against his always pleasant nature. In fact, after he got sick, we learned that this behavior was more pronounced, and everybody adored him. Sadly for us, his health needs changed and, as is often the case people with his illness, he needed more assistance. So, we looked for a second-tier place, the Miramar. I checked their reviews and made a tour and was quite impressed. The place is stunning, rooms look fantastic and the owners had significant experience. So, we moved him in. But I chose to overlook small things that felt "off". I saw new clothes requirements; only 5 sets, no shoes, and all clothes we brought in had to be left for their special washing process before being put in his room. Also, his preferred clothes were sent back home. We thought it was minor stuff and as long as he was being cared for well, it wasn't a big deal. The next day, we were told my dad was aggressive, that this is his new personality, and they were seeing a different side of him. They reported he behaved differently when we weren't there, and that he was doing things intentionally. I asked them to reach out to his previous place as we felt almost as if we were accused of withholding information about him. We thought he needed some settling time. Despite a phone call, they gave him another week but if it was not successful, they would prorate the rest of the month. The next day, dad seemed down, and angry at me for leaving him there and his behaviours apparently got worse. By the third day, he asked me to stop visiting and seemed really mad at me. I knew something was wrong because he used to love our daily visits. I started to look for other places and was told no refunds would be given by Miramar. I called my apartment manager and was allowed to bring him home temporarily. Another place we had toured a month before, but didn't have any vacancies for another month, called unexpectedly to say they now had an available spot. So, we moved him there. The last week has been great, with dad smiling brightly. The staff loves him already and there have been no issues like those at Miramar. I can't say what was happening at Miramar since I wasn't there all the time, but families must listen to their instincts. Talk to others, look at the behaviour of other residents, and always trust your gut feeling. I wouldn't recommend Miramar. There are amazing places out there, so look around before you choose. Always try to have someone with you, read reviews, and take the time you need to make a decision.

"Really like the residential home over a large facility"
I really like this residential home more than a big facility. The place is super clean, with big bathrooms and private rooms. Laura knows a lot about state and local rules and is very nice. My only worry is that all the residents are men, and the night staff (her husband) sleeps upstairs. My mom tends to wander and has escaped before. The new caretaker has been here for 3 months but has lots of experience in bigger places. They don't wear uniforms. Private suites are available for $4700.00. Ranked 2.
