"Facility updates ongoing; amenities and main areas improved"
There has been quite a turnover of staff, but that's expected since the facility was sold right before our move. During this time, they have been updating and remodeling the facility. They are still working on it, and the main areas look nice. The apartment size is bigger than other studios. The apartments themselves haven't been updated yet. Amenities are getting better. There's a pool, family room, and a new area in the dining room for happy hour and gatherings.

"Basic Needs Met, But Services Lack Quality"
My dad's place is okay for someone with simple needs. The upkeep isn't great and can be pretty careless. The food and the way they serve it are awful, my dad says, and the cleaning could be a lot better. He does like having the elevator close by his room. Places like this really should have bigger bathrooms for people in wheelchairs.

"Pets Love It, Needs Some Improvements, Good Location Near VA"
I really like how my apartment is set up. My dog and cat also seem to enjoy living here. There are a few things that could be better, but the renter's association helps with suggestions. I also appreciate how close it is to the VA hospital.

"Disappointing Decline in Quality at Assisted Living Facility"
When my father-in-law first moved in, everything was great. I'd rate it all a 5. But then, new owners took over, and everything plummeted to a 1 or 2. He had to move out.

"Great Experience, Needs Better Housekeeping"
My loved one lives at New Forest Haven in Independent Living, and her experience has been very good so far. The staff and residents are all very nice and helpful. Moving in was easy. They do need to be more consistent with housekeeping. Overall, I would recommend New Forest Haven to others. My mom’s apartment is very nice.

"New Ownership Leads to Staffing and Food Quality Issues"
At first, the facility was great. But recently, a new company bought it. Since then, some staff have left, and the food quality has dropped. There aren’t enough trained staff or supplies, which has caused issues with transportation and meal quality. Residents are now getting fast food in boxes. I hope these problems get fixed soon so residents don’t have to move.

"Safe, Affordable, and Helpful Assisted Living"
It's easy to talk to them, the cost is good for our family, and moving in was simple. Plus, Dad feels safe. We chose this place because the neighborhood is better, the price suits Dad's needs, and the staff is super helpful.

"Friendly staff and welcoming community, but distant from family and medical needs"
The staff was friendly, and New Forest Haven felt welcoming. The cost was affordable. However, the location was too far from our family and medical needs for our loved one.

"Food quality and portions need improvement, spoke with management."
There's a bunch of complaints about the FOOD. Like, how good it tastes and how much they give us. I told the Food Service boss and the big boss about it. Let's wait and see if they fix it...

"Inconsistent Communication and Understaffing at Assisted Living Facility"
I chose this place because it was affordable. They're not good at keeping us informed about what's happening. They don't have enough staff, and they could improve in that area.

"Not Recommended for Fixed Incomes"
I didn't like New Forest Estates at all. The separate buildings mean residents have to go outside to reach the dining room or activity room. Keeping the doors open for walkers and wheelchairs felt unsafe. The community looked poor and depressing, despite the high price. I wouldn't recommend it unless you're on a fixed income.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living: Friendly Staff, Bland Meals"
The staff here is really nice, and I liked the Bible studies a lot. But the meals have too many carbs, and they always serve the same vegetables. The activities could be more interesting too, they seem to be mostly for older people.

"Assisted Living Review: Not Quite Apartment-Like"
We wanted something more than just a room for living with help, more like an apartment. The bathtub in the bathroom required stepping in, which wouldn't have worked for my loved one. Other than that, nothing special really stood out to me about NewForest Estates.

"Great Place with Delicious Food and Caring Staff"
This place is nice. They got a new chef, but they didn’t replace the sous chef. So, the sides aren’t the best, but my parents say the main dishes are delicious. Housekeeping knocks on the metal doors with their keys, so you might want to get a doorbell if your loved one has trouble hearing. Also, double-check some things before you move in, but that’s true for any place. Most of the staff have been very good. My loved one has had some falls, and they were quick to call the lift services to help her up and make sure she was okay. They provide help to the dining room if needed, and housekeeping seems very nice.
