I visited Parsons House La Porte, and it was a pleasant tour. The facility was exceptionally clean, and the staff were polite. However, it wasn't our top pick.

"Review of Family-Owned Assisted Living with Warm Atmosphere and Small Room Concerns"
This community is family-owned, with long-term staff. Beauty shop, movie theater, and family dining room are great. Exec Director was nice; marketing director was not high pressure. Residents gather for activities and know each other. Christ-centered, but all rooms are studios. Some division between living and bedroom would make rooms feel less like hospital or hotel. Bathrooms were nice, but no included cable or phone. Outdoor area has gazebo and gardens, but no central courtyard. Warm atmosphere, genuine staff, but wish for closer location and lower cost.

"Mixed Experience at Parsons House Assisted Living"
Parsons House had games like board games and cards, also exercise classes. Our family member stayed in the memory care unit. It seemed they didn't watch her closely enough. She got out twice, and the second time she was asked to leave. Her room was small, but she liked it, and she enjoyed the food most of the time.

"Mixed Feelings Despite Care; Location a Major Plus"
It's a great place overall, but sometimes they didn't keep us informed. They seemed to wait until the last minute to tell us when my mom would run out of medicine or when she was moving out. The caregivers were amazing though. They took really good care of my mom. We picked this community because it's near our family. I definitely think other families should consider this place.

"Neglected Facility Smells Bad, Had History of Flooding"
Even though I figured this place would be great because it’s in my neighborhood, it reeked of damp and mold. Plus, it had experienced flooding during Hurricane Harvey.

It was really nice, and both Mom and I liked it. However, it wasn't within the price range my advisor mentioned.
