"Positive Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

I visited the only available assisted living facility. Overall, it was a positive experience, and I’d recommend it to others.

"Mixed Experience: Clean, But Lacks Activities and Quality Care"

The overall experience is pretty good. The place is clean, but our loved one doesn't get out of her room much, and there was mold in her main room. The staff helps her get up, but they don't really work with her. The care could be better. The meals are okay, and there aren't many activities, but she did enjoy an Elvis-themed event.

"Nice Grounds, But Some Drawbacks"

The building is old. The grounds are nice and it's quiet. Incontinence supplies are not included in the price. There is no separation between assisted living and memory care.

"Affordable Assisted Living with Room for Improvement"

It was a good place for my loved one. They stayed there for about 8 or 9 months. It could have been better, but we had a budget to stick to. Rocky Hollow fit within that budget. It was a good place.

"Downhill Assisted Living Experience"

My brother-in-law's mom lives here. Things have gotten worse since new owners took over. Maybe it's time to reconsider. How can I remove this from my list?

"Clean facility with good staff; incorrect pricing needs fixing."

I haven’t had an experience yet since my mom is moving in next week. I did visit the memory care facility, and it looks great. It’s clean, which is very important to me. I’m not sure about the staffing, but I hope it’s good. My mom has Alzheimer's and needs special care, so the cost should reflect that. The prices listed here are incorrect, which confused my sister and me. I’ll make sure to mention it to Rocky Hollow Lake House. I just hope my mom receives the best care for what we’re paying. The staff seems nice, which is a big plus. I’m hopeful everything will go well and will update later. God bless.

"Hoping for the best when Mom moves in next week"

I haven’t had a personal experience yet, as my mother will hopefully move in next week. I visited the memory care facility, and it looks great. It’s clean, which is very important to me. I’m not sure if it’s well-staffed, but I hope it is. My mother has Alzheimer’s and needs good care, so I hope the price reflects that. The prices listed online aren’t accurate, which misled my sister and me. I’ll address this with the staff at Rocky Hollow Lake House. I just hope she receives the best care for the money. The staff seems nice, which is a big plus. I’m praying everything goes well and will update after she’s been there a while. God bless.

"A truly caring place that goes above and beyond!"

My father-in-law stayed at The Lodge during his last months, and it was better than we expected. He had been at three other places before, so we had something to compare. The staff is very caring and always involved with activities. They really work hard to keep everyone active. In the days before he passed away, his caretaker, Donna, even came in from home in the middle of the night to check on him. He loved westerns, so they kept Bonanza playing on the TV in case he could hear it. Even when he was hard to deal with, the staff didn’t mind. For them, it’s not just a job; it’s personal. My only regret is that we didn’t move him to The Lodge sooner.

"We are like family"

My dad has been living at The Lodge at Rocky Hollow for almost four years now. It was a hard decision to put him in residential care, but from the very first phone call, I was treated with kindness, respect, and dignity. All my questions were answered honestly and completely. When I visited the next day, my first impression was confirmed. I still believe my dad is in the right place and getting the best care for his needs. The Lodge is bright and clean, with caring and compassionate staff who treat both of us like family.

"Wonderful care and support for mom, full of compassion"

I moved my 94-year-old mom, who has dementia and incontinence, from her old care center because we were unhappy with how she was treated. At her previous place, she was often left in a wheelchair or recliner for most of the day, only getting up for meals. When she arrived at the Lodge, Hope, the owner, took her to the toilet and found a painful rash from being left in wet briefs at the old place. At the Lodge, mom not only healed physically but also became much happier. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, taking in the view from the porch, petting animals, playing games, and chatting with the cook while helping to stir cake batter. With the support of the staff and a walker, mom was able to walk again. Hope and her Christ-based team were there for mom throughout her stay. Hope’s daughter even wrote and read a special piece to mom on the day she passed away at age 96. At that moment, two CNAs were in mom’s room singing “I’ll Fly Away.”

"What a transformation!"

I moved my 94-year-old mom with dementia and incontinence from her previous care center due to unacceptable treatment. At the Lodge, she physically healed, brightened her attitude, and enjoyed activities. The dedicated staff, including Hope and her Christ-based team, supported her every step of the way. A touching moment occurred when Hope's daughter read a piece to Mom on the day she went home to be with the Lord at age 96. In the room, two CNA's sang "I'll Fly Away.

"Thankful for the wonderful care at the Lodges!"

I have a friend who has lived at the Lodges for almost two years. I visit her a few times a week, so I get to see how the staff and residents interact at different times of the day. It makes me feel good to see the loving care each resident gets! They are treated like family in a very kind and caring way. The owner is on-site and has a great staff! I am thankful for the Lodges and the wonderful care they give my dear friend!

"A Truly Caring Place for My Mom"

Finding a place I could trust to take care of my mom was one of the hardest things I've ever done. She was diagnosed with cognitive impairment in 2010. By the time we found The Lodge at Rocky Hollow in 2012, she had suffered a lot at other places that claimed to know how to care for people like her. I first checked out their website with a very critical eye. The main reasons I decided to visit were: 1) it was privately owned by someone with personal experience and compassion for those with memory loss, 2) it was small, meaning more individual care, and 3) it is a Certified Dementia and Alzheimer’s Assisted Living center. The owner, Hope Paffe, the General Manager, Donna Amburn, and the staff really understand and accept the special needs of people with memory loss. They are joyful and compassionate in their care. They don’t try to force the residents to act a certain way and just accept them as they are – part of the family. The love and care given to each person (residents and family) by the staff is clear when you walk in the door. They have a team of visiting doctors, dentists, podiatrists, psychiatrists, home health workers, and other caregivers, like hairdressers and activity providers, who are also skilled and passionate about caring for people with memory challenges. The grounds and Lodge are always well maintained and clean. The security and safety of the residents are held to very high standards, while still allowing them the freedom to be as independent as they can be. The residents are always clean, alert, and accepting of each other and the caregivers. Despite her illness, my mom has flourished under their care. I cannot express how grateful I am for this gift to us both. It started when we first drove up and she said, “Oh, this is lovely!” I encourage you to visit for yourself to see if The Lodge at Rocky Hollow feels like “home” for your loved one. "Feels Like Family"

I love how from the moment we walk in until the moment we leave, it feels like we’re all family. The staff go above and beyond for us and the other families visiting their loved ones. I really appreciate how involved the management is with the residents; you don’t see that much at other places. The activity director is amazing! She always comes up with ideas for each resident’s needs and brings in entertainment, which we really like for our loved one. We also like that it’s out in the hill country and only about a 5-minute drive from Sun City. So happy to have found this place!

"Thanks to The Lodge At Rocky Hollow"

Making the decision to move your mom is really tough. The amazing people at The Lodge made this change easier for both of us. I wanted her to be safe, comfortable, and well-cared for, with good food and medical care. Most of all, I wanted her to feel loved. The staff at The Lodge did all that and more. They treated her like family. Thank you to everyone who loved and cared for my mom. The Lodge At Rocky Hollow truly feels like a home away from home.

"Rocky Hollow: Great care, huge suites, and active daily events"

The staff really knows how to help residents feel comfortable. My wife was so hesitant that she refused to get out of the car, but they quickly helped her inside, and she has loved it there ever since. They offer great personalized care, showing respect and real concern for the residents. The "suites" are big (18'x20') and have private showers, sinks, and refrigerators. The "backyard" is large and lovely, with a farm behind it that has goats and sheep. Every day, the activity room is busy with 15-20 residents. They might be playing ball, attending book club, reading, chatting with others, watching movies, listening to "the oldies," or getting their hair and nails done. Of the five places I checked out, Rocky Hollow was the most lively.

"Expensive but worth the drive for excellent care"

The facility is privately owned, so it can be a bit pricey. However, it has been great. They give me a list of all his medications and their doses, so I’m always updated. Their communication is excellent; they inform me if there are any changes with the medication. They also have psychiatrists from Austin who can come if needed to adjust the medication. I drive two hours to get here, and it’s definitely worth it.

"Caring Staff and Good Facilities"

My husband doesn't join in many activities, but they offer plenty. They're really trying to help him out, and he's doing okay. They work hard to use all their resources for him. Even though my husband isn't very cooperative, the location and facility were the reasons we chose them. We didn't know the staff at first, but once we got to know them, we found them all to be very caring and dedicated to making my husband comfortable. The staff seems to stay the same, and I visit every day to see their hard work. Plus, there are many outdoor walking areas that my husband enjoys.

"Great price for meeting family needs, receptive to feedback."

No problems, not perfect, but better than others.

"Beautiful country setting with friendly staff and nice rooms"

Beautiful country setting. The director and staff were super friendly. Lunch was good. The facility was very clean. The rooms were nice with private bathrooms, but they weren’t furnished. The activity room was too big and boring. The director takes some residents on shopping trips or drives. Laundry is included. $4,550 for private rooms, $4,050 for semi-private. 32 miles/50 minutes away.
