"Great Care and Friendly Staff at South Austin Assisted Living"

I had a wonderful experience talking with [name removed] and his wife, the owners of the facility. They were really helpful in discussing the best options for my mother. Their medical experience made me feel confident that my mother, who has several health issues, would be well cared for and safe. The facility was clean, well-organized, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. I will definitely think about South Austin Assisted Living when I'm ready to talk to my mother and family about moving. Thank you!

"Small, caring facility with room for food improvement"

I picked this place because it’s a smaller house, which means more personal care. Since he’s bed bound, he can’t do much. He really enjoys the food and seeing friends. The food could be better, but they’re doing their best to help him. It’s always clean and smells good. I’d recommend this place.

"Like Home"

I picked this community because it's a smaller place in a house. That means more one-on-one care. My loved one is bed-bound, so there's not much they can do. But they really enjoy the food and visits from friends. The food could be better, but the staff is doing their best to accommodate them. The place is clean, and there are no bad smells. I'd recommend it.

"A Very Caring Facility for Short-Term Needs"

My mother stayed at South Austin Assisted Living in hospice for a short time. Even though it was only for a few days, she received excellent care. She had memory issues and was also very ill. We checked out some large facilities, but they wouldn't have been suitable for her. South Austin Assisted Living gave me great peace of mind. The staff was caring, and even though her stay was brief, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs care for a loved one. I’m really glad we found it through senioradvisor.com and A Place For Mom.

"Clean, Attentive, and Caring Staff"

They did a great job the week my dad stayed there. The place was very clean, and the staff was super attentive and caring. We met another lady there, and it seemed like they didn't have many activities, so they could work on that. They went out of their way to prepare my dad's special diet, which we really appreciated. He was always kept very clean while he was there.

"Best Care for My Brother"

My brother, a doctor with a terminal illness, stayed at a 5-star nursing home in Austin, TX, but the staff couldn't meet his needs. We searched for a smaller place and found South Austin Assisted Living! It's a residential assisted living facility run by a retired ICU nurse and a retired physician. They knew my brother didn't have long, but they took him in not for the money, but to give him a peaceful last few days. He received the best care from the owners and staff. Their prices are reasonable for the care they provide. I can't say enough good things about them.

"Just like being at home"

I was touched when I visited this place because I finally found somewhere I could trust with my 87-year-old mother, who has severe mobility issues. She's happy, and I can rest easy knowing she receives excellent 24-hour care. The staff is kind and attentive, and my mom gets along well with everyone. I followed my relatives' advice and placed her in a privately run home with a low staff-to-resident ratio. She won't be "lost" in the crowd; she'll get one-on-one attention constantly.

"Quality Didn't Match the Low Cost"

I didn't really like it. It was cheaper, but the quality wasn't as great as I expected.

"Warm, caring environment with strong medical support, but needs communication improvement"

The activities here don’t really suit my loved one. The cost is a bit higher than other places, but the care is better, so it’s worth it! One area to improve is family communication. Sometimes the staff can't update us on progress or daily issues, so we end up calling the owners or hospice for info. On the plus side, the facility feels like a real home. It's warm, inviting, and cozy, not institutional at all. The Filipino couple who own it have strong medical backgrounds. The man was a doctor in the Philippines, so he talks well with doctors, and the wife used to be an ICU nurse. Their medical care here is very well-organized. What really impressed me was the owner’s wife’s compassion. When my loved one was upset, she stayed with him in the middle of the night, holding his hand and singing. She chose not to give him extra medicine but went above and beyond.

"Great Owners!"

The activities didn't really suit my loved one. But the value is similar to other places, maybe a bit more expensive. Still, the care is much better, and overall, it's pretty good! One area to improve is communication with families. Sometimes, the staff can't update us on progress or daily issues. We end up calling the owners or hospice for updates. On the bright side, it feels like home here—warm, inviting, and comfortable. The Filipino couple who own it have a strong medical background. The man was a physician in the Philippines, so he communicates well with doctors. His wife, a former ICU nurse, ensures coordinated medical care. What amazed me most was the owner's wife's compassion. When my loved one was agitated, she sat with him in the middle of the night, holding his hand and singing. Instead of sedating him, she went above and beyond.

"Helpful Staff, Pricey Services"

The people there were super nice and really useful, but it cost too much for my folks.

"Expensive but offers excellent care and personal attention."

The care here is priceless. Compared to her previous place, she’s eating better and getting better care. Though the cost is higher, the value is worth it. She receives more attention because there are about 4 residents and plenty of staff. Activities are minimal, but she can’t join in things that require following directions. They focus a lot on fall prevention. It’s more like a house in a neighborhood than a typical facility.
