"Beautiful place, but not right for my mom"
Sunridge at Desert Springs is a lovely place with a nice, green courtyard. I know it's good for memory care residents to be with assisted living residents, but I think my mom would get sad thinking that could be her future and get worse quickly. I won't be placing my mom there. Sorry.

"Reliable and Caring Assisted Living"
My mom has lived at Sun Ridge at Desert Springs for 8 years. She's been really well cared for and treated like family. The place feels like a cozy home clean, bright, and nicely furnished. The staff are like family too, always keeping me informed about even the smallest changes in my mom's health. I can visit anytime and know Mom will be in clean clothes and ready for company. It's reassuring to know she's well taken care of and happy; she genuinely likes the staff. If I ever have a concern, the director is there to help right away. I feel at peace knowing Mom is safe and comfortable.

"Belongings Lost, Neglected Residents, Poor Communication at Desert Springs"
After a mere 7 months, we had to remove mom from Desert Springs due to substandard management and oversight. While some staff members showed kindness and attention, often my mother's apartment was left in a sorry state and she was left in the same clothes for too long. Regular baths were not provided for my mother, so I had to take on that responsibility. The staff were ill-equipped to manage the unique challenges of dementia and Alzheimer's patients. There was frequent neglect of capable residents, leaving them wandering unsupervised. Many incidents of injuries from falls were noted. We tried numerous times to coordinate with BAKA management on matters of communication, caretaking responsibilities, and cleanliness. However, our concerns went unheard and unaddressed. My mother's belongings frequently vanished - even to the extent of being left without shoes, save for a pair of slippers. Staff often gathered in the dining area, seemingly oblivious of the residents' whereabouts. An overflow incident happened in my mother's toilet, resulting in it being off for two days, leaving it both unclean and lacking water supply. The current manager, was highly ineffective in managing and supervising the staff. Her timely work departure at 4 pm resulted in staff taking advantage of the lack of supervision. There was only one RN, , responsible for 6 facilities, suggesting inadequacy and overwork. His solution usually involved transferring residents to GBU. The care my mom currently receives is far superior compared to her experience at Desert Springs. Management and staff failed to be held accountable to provide consistent care to the residents. They rarely adhered to recommended procedures like room checks, cleaning schedules, and medication administration. Lack of accountability remains the major obstacle to improvement at Desert Springs.

"Disappointing Assisted Living Experience for Mom with Dementia"
We picked Desert Springs for mom's dementia care. Big mistake. Staff turnover, lack of supervision, and poor management made it a nightmare. Mom often left in dirty clothes, rooms not cleaned properly, and even overflowing toilets. Many residents left to wander without assistance. Personal items frequently disappeared. Despite claiming expertise in dementia care, staff seemed clueless about handling behaviors. Corporate promises for improvement went unfulfilled. We had to move mom after just 7 months. Desert Springs failed to provide consistent, dignified care.

"Poor Management and Care at Desert Springs"
We picked Desert Springs for mom, who has dementia, after a lot of thought. But we faced many problems there. The biggest one was the high number of staff leaving. There was not enough oversight, especially during nights and weekends. The Director, ,was really bad at managing things. Mom often wore the same clothes for days. Her room wasn't cleaned regularly. Dirty paper and feces were left around. The toilet overflowed and wasn't fixed for two days. People who could walk were left to wander too much. We noticed that many things like shoes, stuffed animals, toiletries, and snacks were missing. They only have one nurse for six centers. He wasn't available to train the other staff on how to handle different stages of dementia. The people who were supposed to be in charge were often not there. This left the rest of the staff without any supervision or accountability. We tried working with the corporate office, BAKA Enterprise, but things didn't get better. They didn't do what they promised they would. After just seven months, we had to move mom out. They didn't treat mom or the other residents with respect all the time.

"Family-Friendly Memory Care Facility Gets High Marks Despite Availability"
We visited this place when we were checking out places to care for our family member. We thought the place looked great! It focuses on memory care, and all the staff seemed really smart and kind. Sadly, they didn't have any rooms available when we visited, but they suggested their other place, Sunridge at Cielo Vista, which we totally adore!

"Great memory care community with knowledgeable and caring staff!"
We visited this place while searching for care for our loved one. We liked how it looks! It's specifically for memory care, and the staff were all very knowledgeable and caring. They didn't have any openings when we visited, but they suggested their sister community, Sunridge at Cielo Vista, which we really love!

"Facility Appearance and Atmosphere Earn Praise Despite Care Concerns"
I visited this facility once when my dad had to stay there unexpectedly. It's a beautiful place where everyone eats together, which felt positive. However, there was no family visiting my dad, which could have helped. He acted out, and because of that, another community wouldn't take him. He was on five strong medications, and no one from our family was there to watch. It was a new experience for me, and no one stopped to say, "That's enough." Overall, I liked how it looked, and everyone seemed nice, but my dad didn't do well there.

"Family Oversight Needed for Medication Management"
I went to this place once when my dad had to stay there urgently. It looked nice, with everyone eating together happily. But, no family visited my dad, which could've helped. He acted out, and because of that, another place refused to take him. He took strong medicines there, but nobody from our family was there to watch over him. It was all new for me, and nobody stopped the medication. It seemed like a good place, but it didn't suit my dad.
