"Struggles with Resolving Issues"
I wouldn't suggest that place. My experience wasn't great. When there's a problem, it's tough to fix or doesn't get fixed at all.

"Good Experience at The Avenues of Fort Bend"
We picked The Avenues of Fort Bend because they had room when we needed it, and other places were full. So far, it’s been a pretty good experience.

"Mixed experience at expensive assisted living facility; cleanliness, care concerns."
My family member's room wasn't very clean, but the rest of the place seemed okay. Some of the nurses weren't very nice. The food was too spicy sometimes. They enjoyed some activities like music and games. It was really pricey, and I don't think we got the care we were supposed to. The facility itself was nice to look at. Some of the staff can be nice. But you need to keep a close watch on them and your loved one. Sometimes my family member's clothes wouldn't come back after being washed for almost a week, and sometimes they went missing. Also, they didn't always get their medication."

"Caring Staff and Comfortable Living, Some Room for Dining Improvement"
Our parents are living there pretty independently, but if they need something, the staff is always ready to help. We really appreciate how hard the staff worked to get our parents settled into a nice apartment. They've been so helpful and kind to our parents, meeting their needs and being just wonderful overall. They stopped the activities for about a month during a covid outbreak, but now they're bringing them back, so we're excited to see what our parents will do. The meals could be tastier; our parents sometimes find them a bit plain. It would also be nice if they offered soda once in a while. Despite this, the dining experience is great; they always bring our mom's breakfast promptly. We would definitely recommend this community to other families.

"Safe, Convenient Assisted Living Choice"
We picked The Avenues of Fort Bend because it looked really nice for the price and services. It's also close to where my sister lives. I've only seen my mom's apartment, but it's just the right size—not too big, not too small. The best thing is that they've had no COVID-19 outbreaks and follow safety rules well. I'd recommend it.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
The visit was good. told us lots. We talked about maybe using the assisted living part, plus level one. I enjoyed the assisted living area. But the memory care part wasn't for me. I won't use the memory care. I'm thinking about assisted living though. The memory care area feels like adult day care. The activity room is cool. The outdoor patio needs shade and pillows on chairs. The staff was nice. I liked the dining room in the assisted living area. It's a private family dining spot that can be reserved for special times.

"Good care, but needs improvement in daily hygiene attention"
We are happy with The Avenues of Fort Bend. I know my parent is safe and well cared for. However, I wish they paid more attention to my parent's daily hygiene. We pay for a certain level of care, and this area seems to be lacking.

"Quality Declines at Oyster Creek Assisted Living Facility"
My family member started living at Oyster Creek over two years ago, and things were great up until the last 8 months. I think it switched owners. The food quality severely dropped, and instead of lots of options, we now have barely any. They run out of menu options every day, and sometimes I wonder if they ever even cooked those dishes. The meat, including the chicken, is too tough and hard to chew. If this were at a restaurant, I would return it, and I never do that, even when the food is just okay. The staff at Oyster Creek has always been great and caring. They still are, but due to reduced kitchen staff, caregivers now often have to serve meals, which impacts the care residents receive. There's definitely not enough staff in the dining room, and a lot of people get so tired of waiting that they just leave. It's really sad. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone. It's truly in a sad state.

"Disappointing Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
We got there early for our appointment, but no one was at the front desk. We signed in and waited. Staff walked by but didn't ask why we were there. When our appointment time came, I had to ask a server for help. The first server, a lady, didn't know if the person we needed to see was in. She just shrugged and said she didn't know. Another server, a guy, overheard and said he'd call the person. He reached her, and she was running late. The tour of the general area was nice, well-lit, and beautifully decorated. The dining room looked fancy with tablecloths and silverware. The courtyard was pretty with ongoing projects. Outside seating was comfy like a backyard. But the memory care area smelled like disinfectant. The dining area was plain and small, like a cafeteria. Their courtyard felt prison-like with high black bars. They lacked gardening spaces. Outside seating was uncomfortable without cushions. I mentioned these concerns to the staff, but all I got was a safety spiel. I'm a nurse and know safety doesn't mean a boring place. They promised to talk to the owners, but who knows if they will. The bed they showed us wasn't as good as the others. My mother-in-law is independent but needs some help with her health. The people we saw in the memory care area didn't seem well-oriented. This place isn't for us.

"Underwhelmed by Assisted Living Facility's Memory Care Unit"
We got to the facility about 10 minutes early for our scheduled visit. There was no one at the reception desk, so we signed ourselves in and took a seat. Staff members passed by us without asking why we were there. When the time of our appointment arrived, I had to ask one of the dining room servers for help. The first server, a woman, told me she wasn't sure if the person we were supposed to meet was even in that day, even after I told her we had an appointment. She just shrugged and told me she didn't know. Another server, a guy, overheard us and told me he'd call the person we were supposed to meet. He got a hold of her, it turned out she was late. As for the tour she gave us: The main area was really nicely decorated and well-lit. The dining room had tablecloths, fancy folded napkins, and silverware. The courtyard was well-maintained with lots of nice landscaping, and there were a few ongoing projects here and there. The outdoor seating had comfy cushions and umbrellas over the tables - it looked like a nice backyard you'd find at a pleasant house. On the other hand, the memory care area smelled strongly of cleaning supplies. The dining room was small and only had a few simple tables, with no tablecloths or fancy napkins. The courtyard was surrounded by big black bars you could see clearly. Couldn't they have put some plants to make it feel less like a prison yard? My wife's mom loves to garden, but there were only two empty window boxes there. The outdoor seats didn't even have any cushions, making it look quite cheap compared to the main area. I pointed this out to our tour guide who just gave us some talk about safety and comfort being a priority. I had to remind her that as a nurse, I understand safety, but it doesn't need to mean a boring and unwelcoming environment. She told me she'd pass my comments on to the owners. The room she chose to show me was definitely not as nice as the ones in the main area. My mom-in-law can do her daily activities like cook, make her bed, garden, and even sew with some assistance. She needs her blood sugar checked, reminders to take her medicine, her diet to be monitored and reminders not to leave the facility. The people we observed in the memory care area were not oriented - a definite no for us.

"Great place with friendly staff and fun activities"
They have activities like bingo and outings. The food is tasty, and we've eaten there many times. The staff are friendly, supportive, and great. The place is new and very clean. My parents are making friends and really enjoy living here. It's close to family, and I would recommend it.

"Good care for dad!"
The folks at Oyster Creek look after my dad well and make sure he's safe. The activities director, a young girl, is fantastic. She plans different things for the residents every day. Overall, it's been a positive experience.

"Friendly Staff, but Lack of Tour Information"
I think this place was really clean and looked after by the people who work there. The lady who showed my mom and me around was nice, but she didn't know much about the place and what they have. I guess the usual person who gives tours wasn't there, so it wasn't really her fault.

"Avoid This Place!"
Warning: Avoid This Place! I wouldn’t even bring my dog here. If I could give a negative star, I would. This assisted living facility turned into a nightmare for my mother. She endured during her time there. I’d discover random bruises on her body. The staff stopped being friendly once I paid and moved her in. They refused to assist her with eating, and she struggled to coordinate food to her mouth. They were always understaffed. My mom’s diaper was perpetually wet, and she smelled of urine and feces—even after they claimed to have given her a shower. It’s like they put her on some strange medication that kept her in a daze. Within just two months, she needed a wheelchair, even though she walked fine before arriving here. Her clothes and shoes went missing. She stopped talking. No activities or field trips. And after hours, who knows what they did to her in the dark. She seemed so depressed. Despite my complaints to clueless management, nothing changed. They took my mom’s hard-earned money and showed zero concern for her well-being. Thankfully, she’s back home with me, walking around just fine, and no longer in that fog. Avoid this place—they’re selling you a lie! Lazy.

"Stay Clear! This Facility Fails to Care!"
Watch out! There's no way I'd even bring my pet here. If I could give less than one star, easily. This place was a nightmare for my mom. She really went through some tough times here. Random marks started appearing on her skin. The staff, who were so nice at first, changed once I'd paid for my mom to move in. They didn't help her eat properly. My mom struggled to get the food into her mouth. They were always understaffed. My mom's diapers were always wet and she constantly smelled of urine and feces, even after they told me they'd bathed her. I think they were giving her some sort of medication to keep her out of it. After just two months she was transformed. Suddenly, she needed a wheelchair when she used to walk just fine. Items of clothing and shoes started disappearing. She wasn't talking anymore and they didn't take her on trips or involve her in activities. I don't know what happened to my mom after hours when the lights were off, but I could see she had changed and seemed really down. Two months of making complaints to the people in charge - who knew nothing - and the same issues were still happening. After taking my family's hard-earned money, it was clear they didn't care about her health and wellbeing. She's now back home with me, walking around just fine and no longer seems out of it. Please avoid if you can. They'll lie to you! They're lazy.

"Memory Care Needs a Major Makeover!"
When I checked out Oyster Creek, I liked most of it. Their assisted living part was really nice. But, when I stepped into the memory care area, it was totally different. It didn't even feel like I was in the same place. It was old looking and needed some upgrades. The floors were fake wood and all of it just reminded me of a big kid's daycare. This is why I decided not to pick this place.

"Great Care and Value for my Wife at Assisted Living"
My wife's experience at this assisted living facility has been pretty positive. The people who work there are really friendly and always ready to assist her. She has plenty of things to do and she's made some good friends. The food is tasty and she appears quite content with everything. It's been worth every penny considering the top-notch care she's receiving. Other families looking for quality care that's well worth the money should totally check out this place.

"Warm Community, Good Care, Minor Hiccups"
I've spent 6 weeks observing and experiencing life at Oyster Creek. The day-to-day staff interactions are very friendly. The facility and our room are kept very clean. The food is good, and meals are flexible to meet different needs. There are lots of fun activities, and they are well-organized and popular. The overall design of the place is excellent and looks nice, with good lighting and outdoor seating. I've had to remind management a few times about some personal service issues, but they fixed them quickly. The residents are friendly and welcomed us warmly when we arrived.

"Not Involved"
The person in charge doesn't really participate. The place looks nice, but the staff isn't very friendly. There used to be a great guy here, but he's gone now. I'll decide whether to keep my mom here based on what I see going forward.

"Assisted Living Success Story: Mom's Happiness is Priceless"
I moved my mom to Oyster Creek about a month ago, and I'm really happy. I feel much better knowing she's not alone at home. I know she's eating well and making friends. At first, I was worried she wouldn't like it because she didn't want to go. But now, she's loving it! Seeing her so happy makes me feel lucky I found this great place.

"Mother's Overall Satisfaction: Friendly Staff, Minor Annoyances"
The workers at Oyster Creek are really nice. But, there are a couple of things bothering me. They've misplaced some of my mom's clothes and messed up others in the laundry. My mom doesn't mind the food, but I think the chef should make it softer. Despite these annoyances, my mom generally enjoys it there. It's a beautiful place, and I'm fond of it too.

"Great care and cost-effective with supportive staff for veterans"
My dad really likes living here. The place is fairly new, only about a year and a half old. It's an assisted living facility, not a skilled nursing home, which works well for him since he gets around okay. The staff seems to really care about everyone and is super friendly. They make sure he comes down for every meal and check on him if he doesn't. The price is about the same as other places nearby, but they don’t charge extra for laundry or other things like some other places do. I also found out there’s a non-refundable community fee just to move in. I saw fees of $2500 and $2250 at other places, but this one was $1500. Since my dad is a veteran, they gave him a break, and the fee was only $750. Unfortunately, my dad has cancer and isn’t being treated anymore. I learned that you can set up hospice care ahead of time, which will handle the medical side of things (with insurance approval). The facility works with the hospice service to keep track of his health. When he lost his balance and hit his head, they informed me right away and took care of everything with the hospice. It was a relief not to have to go to the ER myself!
