"Mixed Experience on Assisted Living Tour"
Our family visited The Forum at Park Lake for an in-person tour. The person guiding us didn't provide as much information as others. She had to check the packet repeatedly to answer our questions and even contradicted herself a few times.

"Nice facility with helpful services but resident feels out of place"
This facility looks really nice, which was one thing I liked. They have a program called Ambassadors. For an extra fee, this program takes care of medications, medical appointments, and transportation to and from those appointments. It’s been a big help for our family. We can just visit our loved one, enjoy time with him, and take him on outings. Our main concern was his care. However, he isn’t very happy here. He thinks the other residents are too old and hasn’t found many activities he likes. We hope this changes because we’re very happy with the facility and glad we chose it. I’d recommend this place to friends and family.

"Assisted Living Renovation Concerns"
When I visited the community, they were fixing up the assisted living area, so I couldn't see any apartments due to the construction. They said it might not be ready until fall, which worried me. The residents from the assisted living wing had to move to the memory care wing, but that wouldn't have been good for my mom. I thought the assisted living would be like the independent living side. Since it was still under construction, I chose a different option to avoid moving my mom twice.

"Reluctant to Displace Mom Due to Construction"
When I visited this place, they were fixing up the assisted living section. Because of all the construction, I couldn't see any of the apartments. I heard that this part won't be ready until fall, and that worried me. The people who used to live in assisted living had to move over to the memory care area. My mother wouldn't have liked that. I got the impression that the updated assisted living was going to be like the independent living area. With the construction going on, I chose a different place instead. I didn't want to move my mom twice - once into a temporary room during construction and again once the assisted living section is ready.

"A Wonderful Assisted Living Experience!"
Wow, the assisted living place felt really nice. The dining room was like a fancy restaurant, and the food tasted great. There were lots of beautiful community spaces. The full-time activity director was super enthusiastic and had great ideas. We were really happy we checked out this place.

"Avoid This Facility: Inadequate Care for Mobility-Impaired Seniors"
I put my mom at the Forum after a stroke for rehab. My mom kept falling off her bed or ending up on the floor, according to friends and relatives who visited her. There aren't enough staff to look after folks who have trouble moving around. During her month-long stay, she had two bladder infections and they didn't want to treat her right away, but instead waited a week for lab tests. Despite signs in her room saying not to leave her alone, they took her to the dining area where she fell and hit her head. This made her bedridden. The nurse assured me that such an incident wouldn't happen. This place doesn't use restraint protocol. So, even if someone risks falling from a wheelchair without a seatbelt, they won't use one. They also think it's fine for an 80-year-old with arthritis to fall out of bed onto a pad. They didn't care when my mom kept falling. They wouldn't put up bedrails. If you have a relative who needs a lot of care, don't leave them at this place.

"The Forum provides excellent care and lots of activities!"
I can’t say enough good things about The Forum. I reached out to A Place for Mom, and our Senior Living Advisor was amazing. She sent me a list of places to visit based on what we needed and was always quick to respond to our questions. We moved my parents to The Forum from another Dallas facility. The Forum can care for my mother, who needs Assisted Living, and my father, who needs Skilled Nursing and is in a wheelchair. They have a busy activity calendar with outings to the symphony, museum, Target, Wal-Mart, Blackout Casino Night, happy hour, chair exercises six days a week, Bible study, arts and crafts, yoga, shopping trips to NP Mall every Saturday, Current Events, and more! The Forum invests most of their resources in their nursing staff and assistants, and it shows. The doctor is careful not to over-medicate and listens to residents’ requests. The environment is positive and caring, and I’m so grateful my parents are now at The Forum. Their quality of life has improved a lot. We can be sure they are well cared for, not over-medicated, and have plenty of activities to enjoy.

"Great place with excellent staff, location, and happy residents"
I visited 7 independent living places in Dallas and checked out 4 of them. My mother and I quickly felt at home at The [removed]. The staff are great professional, knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and responsive. The residents are wonderful and welcoming. The place is beautiful, clean, and spacious. The dinners don't taste like typical institutional food. The transportation service is always on time and reliable. It's in a great location, close to Baylor and many health care professionals, and right across from Northpark Mall. My mother adjusted to her new home very quickly and is very happy. Seeing her so content makes me happy too. It’s such a relief to know she’s in good hands and surrounded by good people.

"Caring staff and excellent care"
Review: "The staff seems very caring, and I would recommend them. The home has a nice view and plenty of light. It's very well kept, and the care is excellent. The staff is friendly and outgoing and shows great interest in my mom. She is doing well there. They don't have activities, but that's fine because she's 98." Summary:
