"Great Experience with Friendly Staff and Fun Activities at Waterford"

Overall, our time at the Waterford has been really good. Sometimes they don't have enough staff, but the people who work here are nice and like to talk to us. The things we do here are enjoyable, the food is tasty, and they always keep the place clean.

"Decent Living Facility, Needs More Skilled Staff and Better Maintenance"

Generally, Waterford at College Station is a decent facility. The person in charge of activities does a great job, she's caring, very attentive to the residents, and always brings positive energy. Her ideas are innovative and she always successfully executes them. On most days, the food is tasty and served timely. The cleanliness can be inconsistent, with trash sometimes spotted around the outside areas and indoor areas not promptly attended to. Staff members are mostly skilled, respectful, and always kind to residents. Still, there's a need for more well-trained employees who are caring, trustworthy, and not addicted to their phones. At times, there aren't enough staff to fulfill needed duties and mentioned ratios. In the memory care department, there's been no hot water for 5 days, which is unacceptable. The director says they're working on it, but it has caused my overall score to be lower. As far as I know, there aren't better places nearby for our needs. Plus, they haven't messed up our billing like some places do.

"Recommend for clean property and punctual staff"

I recently toured this community for my mother. The staff were punctual and answered all our questions. The property was clean with great amenities. I'd recommend it.

"Helpful Tour Guide!"

My visit to The Waterford at College Station went smoothly. The place was nice, and the tour guide provided helpful information. Unfortunately, it wasn't the right fit for my mom.

"Friendly Staff, Too Far Away"

I had a really good visit at The Waterford at College Station. Everyone there, like the people who work there and the person who showed me around, were super nice and made me feel at home. The building was neat and looked like it was taken care of well. We ended up not choosing this place because it was just too far to drive.

"Friendly Staff But Facility Could Use Refreshing!"

When I visited this place, I realized it's a bit outdated. A remodel, or some updates, would be a good idea. The laundry area didn't seem very clean to me. Also, there weren't any activities happening in the activity room during my tour. But, everyone I met like the residents and staff were friendly.

"Outdated Single Bedroom, But Updated, Inviting Studios"

The one-bedroom was quite old-fashioned and seemed more like a factory - the light was faint and the room was dull. Yet, the studios were updated and bright.

"So Happy with Their Care"

This place is amazing! They take great care of my parents. We are so happy with everything they've done for us. The community is beautiful and very clean. The staff is awesome, super nice, and patient with my parents. They have activities too. My parents are happy, and so am I. I would recommend this place.

"Concerns Over Staffing & Mismanagement of Medications"

My mom/dad has stayed in this place for 3 years and I visit quite often. The shared areas look good but there are issues in some other areas. The meals they serve aren't great. Cleaners come in once a week but don't do a stellar job. When the center is short-staffed, the waiting time to answer a call button can even exceed an hour. There are some nice care staff and a great activity director, yet, the high turnover of caregivers and lack of proper training is a concern. Staff often miss their shifts in the evening or on weekends. Handling medicines is another big problem. Essential medications have gone unnoticed for as long as 3 days. The facility has had to switch pharmacies thrice since we've been here. They put the blame on the pharmacy or doctors' office when they run out of medications. Lately, they have doubled up on medication orders without informing the current pharmacy. Visiting professionals say these kind of issues are common in most places like this. Patients definitely need someone to stand up for them!

"Absolute Mess: This Elderly Care Facility Needs Serious Improvements"

My mom lived in this care facility's memory unit for around a year. In that time, she fell and broke her hip. The staff found her and put her in bed to stay the night before finally taking her to the hospital. They didn't even take her to the hospital we told them to in case of emergencies. They don't keep track of incidents. One of our family friends found a big bruise and lump on her head. The staff didn't know about it and didn't have any record of it. The people who provide personal care there either don't know what they're doing, or just don't care. I sat with my mom during meals a lot of times and watched as residents who couldn't feed themselves went unhungry. When my mom moved away from there, she put on 19 pounds. We had to provide all of her useable supplies and we usually weren't told they ran out until it was too late. This place isn't run well and doesn't keep good records.

"Staff Isn't Happy and Lacks Patience at the Waterford"

The Waterford at College Station doesn't have very enthusiastic staff. My brother is hard to look after. But the people here have been harsh with him. They lack the necessary patience. All things considered, it's going okay. If things don't improve, he'll have to move to a nursing home, which I don't think would be great.

"“A Pleasant Place!”"

I visited this community while exploring care options for a family member. The place was neat and tidy, and all the staff I met were friendly and professional. However, my loved one needed more specialized care than what they offer here. If you’re considering assisted living, it’s worth checking out!

"Memory Unit Staff Cares, But Resident Isn't Active"

The main nurse and team really care. The girls in the memory area are fantastic and truly wonderful. But my family member doesn't join in on their events.

"Clean, Affordable Assisted Living Option"

Considering This Facility for Dad I'm thinking about this place for my father. The apartments are a good size, and overall, it's well-maintained. I did notice a cleanliness issue in the restroom, though. The staff seemed professional and focused on client care. The facility's rate is very competitive, and the community fee is lower than other places I've seen.

"Beware: Memory Care Facility Fails in Care Despite Fancy Facade"

Looks Can Deceive at Memory Care, Don't Trust the Beauty." While the memory care facility may look very nice, nice looks won't help your loved one. They forgot to give one of the medications to my mother for 4 whole days. We only discovered this when we got a medicine chart copy during her discharge. The food was tough to eat, even a simple hamburger was a struggle for my mother. Her dentures were nearly knocked out! They suggested grinding the hamburger, but that's just gross. We had to wait 3 whole hours for a simple grilled cheese sandwich. I took care of my mother for 7 years and knew what foods are easy for her to eat - it's not hard! Why can't they do the same? I noticed that some residents couldn't eat on their own but no one seemed to be helping them. I had told them that my mother, who has dementia, needs plenty of water, their reaction was "there's water in the kitchen area down the hall" as if my mother could remember that. They suggest you should take your loved ones to activities on the assisted living side or pay extra for someone to take them. Mostly, I saw the staff hanging out in the dining area chatting. It's honestly laughable to call this memory care for $4000 a month. Eventually, I couldn't bear it anymore and decided to take my mother out. She stayed home for 2 days until we could move her to a personal care home. Do your loved ones a favor, visit the facility frequently and at unexpected times. It's important to have peace of mind knowing your loved one is well taken care of, not just seeing a fancy looking facility. The short-term respite care was no help as I was always having to ensure they were doing their job correctly.

"Saturday Tour Offers No Impressions"

I only took a quick look around this place, but it didn't exactly blow me away. My visit happened to be on a Saturday and there was nobody around who seemed to be running the show. This could've been a one-off thing, but it certainly didn't leave a good taste in my mouth.

"Great care and staff, even with our short stay"

Even though we stayed at Waterford for a short time because we needed more care, they did their best to make our experience great. The director, nurses, and aides were all wonderful!

"Nice Community with Friendly Staff"

I visited this place while searching for care options for my family member. The community looked nice, and the staff were friendly. They provided both assisted living and memory care, but I was more interested in a place that focused just on memory care.

"Great care at The Waterford worth considering for assisted living"

My mom moved to The Waterford at the end of August 2013, so we’ve only been here about 5 months. She used to live at another place 100 miles away, so getting used to a new routine is still a bit of a process. But the staff and administrators have been really helpful. She had spent 4 years at her old place, and from what we’ve seen, having a routine is very important for the elderly. The Waterford has been just what we hoped for in terms of care. We had to sort out some details with medications and laundry, but the staff worked with us to handle everything. Even though we haven’t been here long, I’d definitely recommend The Waterford or at least suggest you check it out.

"Didn't Like the Waterford's Approach to Sedatives"

I wasn't a fan of the Waterford. They couldn't tell me how quickly they would decide to use sedative drugs. I don't want them giving out sedatives without talking to us first. I found a new place that gives more focus to activities instead of drugs, and this made me much happier than at the Waterford.

"Best overall"

I found this place online while touring different options. It's smaller and affordable. The staff is friendly and helpful. Overall, we're very pleased.

"Safe and caring environment with both assisted living and memory care"

I liked the Waterford. Having both assisted living and memory care really met my parents' needs. The location, away from the busy street, made me feel safer since my dad tends to wander. The residents seemed well cared for. They had plenty of activities to join, but could also do their own thing. All my questions about care were answered clearly. I would not hesitate to place a loved one here.

The place was really pleasant.

"Affordable Care and Convenient Living Spaces with Flexible Transitions"

There aren't any additional charges for care here. Residents have the ability to move from assisted living to memory care to skilled nursing. The bedroom area is somewhat divided from the living area by a half wall.
