Village at Woodlands Waterway

"Staff Kindness and Care Varies at The Village Assisted Living"
My mom stayed at The Village for less than 3 months, with half that time in the hospital. The head nurse seemed mean, but the rest of the nurses were great. There was an issue with her wanting to kick my mom out when her care needs increased, even before I found a new place. It feels like she got a promotion for it. Because of this experience, I wouldn't recommend The Village in the future.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
The lady who leads the nurses on the 4th floor is my main concern. However, the rest of the staff is simply wonderful. Unfortunately, activities are either nonexistent or they forget to remind her and take her to them.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
The staff were nice and paid attention, but sometimes they seemed tired. The food was better than my loved one’s previous place. Overall, the facility was good, but ongoing construction bothered me. Parking was hard, and there was noise near my loved one’s room. Unfortunately, no end date for the construction was provided.

"Great Location and Staff, Good Apartments, Mixed Food Experience"
I picked The Village at Woodlands Waterway because of its location. The apartments are a good size here. The staff are really nice too. The food is okay, but sometimes it's not to my taste. Maybe it's because of where I'm from. Overall, I would suggest The Village to others who are interested.

"Nice place, but pricey and future construction planned"
When we toured The Village at Woodlands Waterway, they mentioned there would be remodeling in the next few years. She wasn’t sure she wanted to deal with the construction noise. The independent living residents were in high-rise apartments, while the assisted living residents were on the lower level. She felt nervous about being up high. The facility was more expensive than we wanted. They did give us a little goody bag, which we thought was a nice touch.

My wife and I like being together in this place, especially during meals. We're figuring out if we can change the menu a bit. Besides that, we're doing okay here.

"Friendly Staff and Welcoming Residents"
Ever since I helped my mom move in, we had only one big problem. The AC in her room kept cutting off. We called the maintenance man, and he tried to fix it, but it still didn't work. He came in and out of the room many times, but it never stayed on. That night, I called at 10:00 pm to report it again. The assistant director said someone would fix it in the morning. I insisted they get a professional, not the usual maintenance people. They did, and the professional found an issue with the piping that was causing the problem. It was frustrating since it was my mom's first night there. After that, everything was fine. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They are always there to help and seem to know everything. The other residents are very welcoming, which my mom loves. The food is average, not fantastic but okay. My mom is a vegetarian, and they don't always cater well to that. They have vegetables and veggie burgers, but sometimes meat is included. If you have special dietary needs, I wouldn't recommend this place. They also have many activities and keep everyone updated with a calendar and menu in their mailboxes.

"Great place with nice amenities and views."
This community is great, offering lots of amenities. They have a fun game and TV room. Many apartments have beautiful views of the waterways, and the apartments themselves are very nice. The staff is friendly and keeps me updated on my mother’s progress. My mother’s transition has been a bit challenging, but her private caregiver is encouraging her to join activities and dine with other residents. I definitely recommend taking a tour here.

"Assisted Living Falls Short on Space and Meal Plan"
We needed three meals daily, a big bedroom for our king-sized bed, and a reasonable price. During our tour, everyone was friendly and professional, providing the information we sought. However, the bedroom wasn't spacious enough, and their meal plan only included breakfast, not meeting our requirements.

"Pretty outside doesn’t mean quality care inside!"
Don't let the pretty surroundings fool you - the care offered at this assisted living and memory care facility isn't up to par. The caregivers here don't really care, they spend more time chatting up a storm with each other than with the patients. They've even got uncertified employees dishing out medicines in Memory Care. I heard from a nurse who only works 9-5 that they're not even equipped with a defibrillator. It's not the place for you if you need assistance with basic stuff like bathing or changing positions, or if you rely on someone to manage your medication. Plus, you'd have to put up with their hit-or-miss dining. Worst of all, a lot of folks here spent months without access to hot water. Here's hoping they've rectified that by now.

"Great Look, but Lacks Staff-Resident Interaction!"
At first, I was amazed by this community. It looked nice, inside and out. Plus, they had valet parking and a great view of some water. Once I got deeper into the place, though, I started to feel unsure. There weren't many people living there, and I didn't see any residents talking with staff. Also, I noticed a couple of staff members just standing around, chatting and on their phones.

"A Comfortable Place for My Parents"
My folks are doing okay since they moved to this place. I just visited them this week, and they were all smiles. There are lots of activities here for my parents to join and make new friends. The building is going through some changes, and we've had a few hiccups, but they always fix things quickly. A new chef is coming soon, so we're hoping the food gets better. Overall, it's been a great experience.

"Communication Lacking, More Feedback Needed"
My father appears to like this place, but I'm not feeling very confident in how the staff keeps me updated. They used to ring me every week, but now it's just every other week. Despite my dad not being in any danger, the way they describe him doesn't match what I know of him. As I'm living in a different state, I need more frequent updates to be sure he's getting the care he needs.

"Quality of Memory Care Declines Tremendously."
For the past 15 months, my mom has been residing in the memory care unit at Waterway. Initially, the care she received was great, but it took a steep downturn about 6 months in. The care provided by the staff and head members like the director, med tech, and on-call nurse, is far from satisfactory. Upon visiting any hour, you'll find employees chatting among themselves while residents are left alone and neglected. I was forced to hire an independent caregiver to assist her with morning tasks such as bathing and dressing after the director ignored my constant pleas for help. Furthermore, as mom's incontinence got worse, I'd often find her in wet clothes and her room dirty. Locating her assigned caregiver for assistance is another struggle. Most recently, the med tech contacted me at 6:00 pm on a Friday to inform me about mom's critical need to see a doctor, revealing they noticed the issue in the morning itself. I've decided to move her as soon as possible. While it may be a great place for people seeking independent or assisted living, when it comes to memory care, the facility disappointingly falls short.

"Stylish, Modern Living with Great Views and Amenities"
This place is really new, modern, and looks nothing like a typical senior living community. It’s so nice that I’d want to live there myself! The building is an impressive 8-story complex right by the water in a popular area of The Woodlands. The area can get busy with lots of shopping and grocery stores, and parking is limited. Luckily, there’s a local trolley that comes by every hour for residents. Visitor parking is currently a challenge due to space restrictions, but they’re working on it. The interior has very wide hallways and high-end lighting, with windows at the end of each hall to make it feel more open. The kitchens are spacious with higher ceilings and an open floor plan, plus each unit has its own washer and dryer. Social areas are large, and the balconies offer beautiful views of local events and sports. This is definitely a great place for both active and less active seniors, with features like a life alert pendant and motion sensors for extra help.

"I Liked It and the People Were Fine"
We visited many different places, and this was one of the ones we toured and thought about. I liked all the communities I saw, and the people were all okay, just like everywhere else. But I don’t think it’s the right fit for us because my loved ones don’t want to leave their home.

"Great activities and fair prices, food could be better"
I've been really happy with this place. The prices are fair, and there are lots of activities like concerts and outings. The only issue was the food—it was sometimes cold, even though the menu was good and there were many choices. They don't have much guest parking, but there's a convenient area for picking up and dropping off.

"Beautiful Location and Engaging Activities"
The location is stunning my mom’s apartment overlooks the Woodlands waterway. I’m sure she’ll love watching the sunset every day. Her one-bedroom, one-bath home is very comfortable. The only issue she’s had is that not all of her belongings fit in the new place. She had a two-bedroom, two bath apartment before this move and is very attached to her "things" and doesn’t want to part with any of them. Her new closet is much better than her old one. The maintenance man even added an extra rod for hanging clothes before she moved in and helped with getting rid of the empty boxes and paper. I’ve noticed that the residents are very active and engaged in activities throughout the day, not just staying in their rooms until mealtime. The twice-a-week art classes have really interested my mom. Once she’s settled in, I’m sure she’ll enjoy her new home.

"Beautiful Assisted Living with Waterway Concerns"
Visited the assisted living facility. It's very beautiful. However, the Independent living option wouldn't work for us because the waterway is right outside, and there are many places to walk to right out the door. I don't think the highrise would be a good fit for Dad.
