"[Happy with Village on the Park"
We like Village on the Park. They have been a big help! We are very happy with them. Yes, we would recommend it. We chose this place because of the independent living cottages.

"Great tour, but disliked high-rise feel."
The tour at The Village of Meyerland was great! The guide was very kind and informative. I didn't like the high-rise feel, which is why we decided against this facility for our loved one.

"Older Facility with Decent Amenities"
The activities score is low because my relative doesn't participate much, making it hard to assess quality. However, there are plenty of activities. The facility is older, but they helped spruce up my MIL's cottage. She's somewhere between Independent and Assisted Living, and the staff has been understanding about her challenges. Other residents are friendly, and the grounds are secure. Activities and outings are enjoyable, but the food is just average. Overall, we'd recommend the community, despite the dated facilities and ordinary food.

"Friendly and Home-Like Assisted Living, Some Staffing Concerns"
They try hard to make residents feel at home and comfortable. It looks like they might not always have enough staff and money to run smoothly. Overall, I would suggest Village on the Park at Steeplechase to others.

"Disappointing Experience Waiting for Tour; Staff Unhelpful During Visit"
Our family had an appointment for a tour, but when we arrived, the man at the front desk was helping people who just walked in before us. We had to wait for about 30 minutes before our tour started. During the tour, the man almost seemed like he didn't want us to choose this community.

"Least Expensive, Mixed Food Experience"
The independent living feels cozy, like a cottage or duplex. The monthly price covers a full meal plan with three daily meals, seven days a week. It’s the most affordable choice for my loved ones, but unfortunately, they aren’t satisfied with the food service.

"Great Experience, but No Medicaid Accepted"
The place was very clean and nice. The staff was professional and paid close attention to everything. Overall, I had a really good impression from my visit. The only bad thing was that they don't take Medicaid.

"Active Bridge Group"
My mom feels really comfortable at this place. She likes that the people there are friendly and inclusive. Her favorite thing is the bridge group—they’re super active and keep trying to get her to play. Right now, she’s busy settling into her apartment. They also organize trips to outlet malls, and she’s made friends there. Most folks are from Houston, but my mom moved from out of state. Everyone’s been welcoming and even offered to be her co-pilot to explore the area. She’s quite active for her age. I’ve noticed they also have trips tailored for men. Retired engineers and mechanics enjoy outings to places like Transtar, where they monitor traffic cameras. It’s nice to have variety beyond just shopping. I’ve already recommended this property to other families.

"Mom's Happy Place"
I’m really happy with the care at this place. It’s been a great move for my mom. The staff are super nice and take good care of her. The food is amazing, and she loves it. She’s made friends and likes how clean and well-kept everything is. I’m glad she’s happy here and would recommend this place to other families.

"Peaceful, Single-Level Living with Great Food Options"
The main reason I chose this place for my mom is that it’s a single-level building and has a very peaceful environment. I also like that they have a menu available all day, so if residents miss meal time, they can still get something to eat. They have a great activity program during the week too. Overall, I am happy with how things are going.

"Friendly Staff, Well-Kept Building, But Too Close to Traffic"
The place is nice, the people are friendly, and everything is clean. Everyone was super nice to us when we visited and shared lots of helpful info. The only thing I didn't like is that it's too close to busy roads.

"High Price, Low Quality Senior Care"
My mom has been in the Memory Care area for around a year. While most of the workers are nice and supportive (a job I definitely couldn't do), that's pretty much the best part. The activity schedule is a gag. The meals are bad, not appetizing, and lack nutrients. The rate at which supplies get used up is ridiculous (like a gallon of laundry soap and 75 bed pads in just one week). They often misplace clothes, sheets, and towels. When I ask most questions, "I don't know" is usually what I get for an answer. There's a lot of staff changes; every time I pop in there's a new face and someone else is missing. I presumed more professionalism and quality for $4,800 per month. I mean, I'm sure there are worse places, but there's definitely got to be better ones for that kind of cash.

"O.K. so far except for an unresolved phone problem."
I've only been here a short time. Everything seems okay for now, but there's an ongoing issue with the in-house landline phone system. Sometimes there's activity on the line when the phone isn't in use, and I hear busy signals, dialing sounds, and no dial tone when I'm using the phone. The telephone service person has checked my phone twice and replaced phone jacks, but the problem still seems related to the facility's phone system.

"Great staff and positive atmosphere!"
We’re very pleased so far. The staff is really nice, and the directors are great. Even though we’ve only been here two weeks, everything is going well. There’s a good vibe in the place, and they try hard to make you happy.

"Hot Meals and Bright Lights Make for Happy Seniors!"
I really like this place for my dad. Older folks often find something to complain about no matter where they are, and the big issue here is cold food! Even if the food tastes good, it’s not great when it's cold. Lots of people have complained about it, but nothing has changed. When you’re paying nearly $3,000 a month, you should expect hot meals. The staff and people here are really nice, and the grounds and common areas are beautiful. The holiday decorations from fall on were fantastic. There are tons of activities, so there’s always something fun to do. If they can fix the food problem and upgrade the hallway lights (which is already planned), this place will be even better!

"A Pleasant Place"
Village on the Park at Steeplechase is a great place. The apartment is nice, the grounds are pleasant, and the staff is very helpful. It’s spacious, with good parking and a garage. They promptly fixed an issue with a smell in the apartment during our first week. Overall, we’re quite pleased and would recommend them.

"Feels Like Living in Your Own Cozy Neighborhood"
It’s like living in a small neighborhood. Each cottage feels like your own place. I was able to bring my Sheltie named Lady with me. I didn’t have to give up anything I loved. The rooms are really spacious. My kids and friends are amazed at how cute it looks here. One of the ladies I met said you can do something fun every day if you want. I’m really thankful for all the good things here.

"Very Pleased with the Care and Positive Environment"
My mom stayed briefly in the independent living apartment, but she got sick. After a long time in the hospital and skilled nursing care, she came back to VOP. We had to wait for assisted living to open up, so she stayed in the Memory Care unit. The staff was really helpful during this process. We decided to keep her in Memory Care because she's happy there and gets the attention and care she needs. She was one of the first residents in Memory Care. It seems like VOP is growing and still providing the personal care she's used to. The staff is great at answering our questions and concerns. The best thing is that my mom is happy and secure, always glad to come back after our outings. They also make sure residents participate in activities and visit with each other.

"Excellent at assessing needs and providing great care"
My parents have been at Village on the Park for just a month. They did a great job assessing my mom's needs and following through. The community is super clean, and the staff is excellent and very friendly. They are always attentive, greet me with a smile, and talk to me about any concerns before I visit. My dad has really enjoyed some of the activities, especially when the men's group went out to a restaurant. Both my mom and dad have a lot of good things to say about the food.

"Great staff and beautiful place—I'd choose this facility!"
The staff here is super friendly—I’d give them a six out of five! They’re adding a memory care and Alzheimer’s unit. The food isn't her favorite; she’d rate it a two, while others might say it’s a four. She finds it a bit bland. If I ever need care, this is where I’d choose. The place is beautiful, looks brand new, and is really well-maintained. People can be independent, and there are many happy residents.

"Amazing place, but a bit too pricey for my budget"
This place is really nice. It calls itself a cruise ship on land, and it truly feels like one. The food was amazing, and everyone was super friendly. The cottages were fantastic. The only downside is that it is a bit too expensive for me.

"“Active Community with Flexible Meals”"
Nice place! Saw many residents around. The cottages wouldn’t work for Mom—too far for her to walk to meals. It’s all on one level, but that means more walking. Loved the little patio for flowers and birdwatching. They have safety pendants and a daily check-in button. Meals are flexible, served from 7 to 6.
