"Great Place with Helpful Staff and Good Care"

My grandmother is doing really well, and we're happy with the place. The community is nice and clean, and the staff has been friendly and helpful. They have good activities for the residents. The food isn’t her favorite; it’s different from what she’s used to. Overall, things are going great, and I’d recommend it.

"Brighton House Under Fire for Improper Drug Administration"

Concerning Brighton House in Riverton, Utah - it was a terrible idea to place my mom there, and I deeply regret it. They decided to give my mom a medication, "Haldol," around July 9, 2014. This drug isn't meant for elderly patients with dementia. After hearing of my mom's serious condition, I drove up from New Mexico. On arriving on July 11, I saw that my mother's tongue stuck out, and her body was super stiff, side effects linked to Haldol. She passed away later as she couldn't swallow. We pleaded they switch from Haldol to Valium, but it was too late as she couldn't eat or drink. No inquiry was made into this as she was in "hospice." However, I see two legal issues here. First, a 1987 law bans the chemical restraint of the elderly, and second, Haldol isn't FDA-approved for my mom’s condition. The way my mom died was terrible and I blame myself for not protecting her. Furthermore, she previously complained about how the staff treated her. After she passed, the staff was sorry but it was already too late. Though her heartbeat was fast (a symptom of Haldol), her vitals were fine two days prior to her death. I truly believe that my mom's premature death was due to Haldol not a stroke, and she was chemically restrained due to her fury over Brighton House treatment. Do your research on Haldol and protect your loved ones from such a dreadful fate.

"Caring staff, but needs more workers. Aunt adjusting okay."

The workers and owner are super nice. They really try to help all the patients. Seems like they could use more staff though. My aunt is still getting used to everything, but the new environment and people are helping her.
