"Fee Trickery Plagues Overpriced Assisted Living Facility"

This place is insanely pricy for a small town, and the care residents get doesn't match the steep bills! There's more - I've heard from friends and folks who use this place that the billing system isn't right. They get hit with late fees when they paid on time, but the company doesn't process their payments until 2 weeks later. That's a $250 late fee yanked from their accounts. All this money stress is rough on residents and their loved ones, thanks to lousy money management.

"Great Place!"

I recently toured this community, and I have no complaints about how things went for my loved one. The staff were punctual for our appointment and answered my questions thoroughly. I appreciated the open floor plan and the variety of activities available for the residents. Ultimately, it wasn't the right location for us, but I would recommend it to others.

"Excited about memory care community with friendly staff and amenities!"

I really liked this place. It was super clean, and the people I met who work there were nice. They have a special part of the building just for people with memory problems. Their kitchen is big, and the brochures say it's really nice.

"Great Meals, Fun Activities, and a Clean Community"

So far, my parents have had a good experience here. My mom really likes the meals, which is great. They also join in on the activities and have fun. The place is clean from top to bottom. I recommend this community.

"Highly recommend Brookdale Cedar City!"

I am really happy with Brookdale Cedar City. I highly recommend them. My mom likes it there and has made a lot of friends. She stays busy with lots of activities like kickball, getting her hair and nails done, and enjoying live music, which she loves. It’s been really good for her. Every time I call, she is happy. She really likes the food, and they cut it up for her because she has trouble doing it herself. I also recommend A Place For Mom. They helped me a lot by pointing me in the right direction.

"Pathetic Assisted Living Experience"

Wow, this place is way too expensive for seniors on fixed incomes. The company spent a ton of money making the inside look nice, but now they expect residents to pay for it by jacking up the rent. The staff is stretched thin, and things aren't well-maintained. Employees come and go, and so do the residents. The food is just okay, and the rooms aren't always clean. Laundry? Forget about it – they return wrinkled shirts and grayish whites. And don't get me started on the bedding – sometimes it's not back on the bed until late at night! Oh, and if you want a hamburger, good luck – they'll give you two pieces of sandwich bread instead!

"Brookdale Overcharges, Under-delivers for Senior Living"

This place charges a fortune, especially for elder folks on fixed money. The corporation blew a ton of money on improving the looks of the place inside and then jacked up the monthly rents on the residents to cover it. They're short-staffed, under-equipped, and not maintained well. Lots of employees quit or get fired, and the same goes for the residents themselves. The food is just OK, and the keeping up of the residents' rooms isn't steady. Trash tends to pile up, and laundry isn't done well either - shirts come back super wrinkled, whites and darks get washed together which turns the whites gray, and bedding isn't put back on beds until really late unless the resident or their family complains. If a resident orders a burger for dinner and they're out of burger buns, they'll just slap it between two slices of regular bread. Pretty sad.

"Fired staff leads to severe understaffing issues"

Emeritus at Emerald Pointe has let go of several staff members, and now they don't have enough workers. My loved one is supposed to get their laundry done and have their room cleaned every week, but this isn’t happening because there aren’t enough people to do the work. They’ve brought in more residents and spent a lot on upgrades, but they can’t even put name tags on the doors because of the staff shortage. Some people have already moved out because of these problems.

"Major Letdown at Emeritus at Emerald Pointe"

I'm truly let down by Emeritus at Emerald Pointe. [removed] Plus, each time I step inside, it's like a ghost town at the front desk. Overall, my experience with this place left me upset.

"Proceed with caution: Hidden fees and inadequate care at Emerald Pointe."

Beware before choosing Emerald Pointe. My mom just started at Emerald Pointe. But suddenly, they demanded $850 extra every month. First, they said she needed more care, tacking on $200. Then, they insisted on giving her meds, costing $600 more. Plus, they bumped up everyone's fees by $50. I tried calling and emailing to ask why. No one replied. Even HQ ignored me. We pay everything ourselves. But their new price is more than Mom's income! The place is poorly run. I once saw two residents fighting with no staff around. It's hard to find help when needed. Be careful!

"Unresponsive Management Raises Costs, Leaves Residents Unattended"

Look out, shoppers. My mom hadn't even been at Emerald Pointe for three whole months when the management wanted to up her care level and costs by $850 every month. First off, they said she needed more looking after than they thought, so they tacked on an extra $200 to her monthly bill. Then, her doctor said they had to be the ones to give her her medicine, so they added $600 more per month. After that, they upped everyone's prices by $50, no questions asked. I tried talking to the facility manager and even the nurse about that $600 fee, and I left messages with the accounting folks too. No one got back to me. I even tried reaching out to the main office. But still, nothing. Makes me think they don’t have a good reason for upping the price. We pay for everything out of pocket. And wouldn't you know it, their new price was just a bit more than my mom's total income. But with her meds, insurance, and other bills costing about another $1,000 every month, it just wasn't doable. This place doesn't have nearly enough staff and it's not run well. Once, I walked in and saw two of the residents fighting right in the lobby. There wasn't a single employee around. I had to separate the ladies myself and go look for help upstairs. Nearly every time I've come in, there's been no one watching the main floor. Before you decide to put someone you care about in this place, I'd say talk to some local doctors to get their opinion.
