"Assisted Living Tour Pleasant, Services Not Ideal"
Our family visited Truewood by Merrill Bountiful for an in-person tour, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. However, their assisted living services didn’t capture our interest for our loved one.

"Assisted Living Facility Review"
The cleaning service isn't great, but most staff are friendly. We had one bad encounter. The extra $300 we pay for care only covers reminding her to take her meds. Staff don't respond quickly to issues; my niece or I have to remind them. The food and activities are okay. It's affordable compared to other places.

"Truewood Poorly Cares for Residents; Staff Respond Rudely"
I really didn't enjoy my experience with Truewood, and I wouldn't suggest it for anyone. They failed to look after my husband properly and the folks running things were just plain mean whenever I voiced my concerns.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Cleanliness and Communication"
The place isn't very clean. The cleaners often don't come when they should. When they do, they use the same dirty tools. The shower isn't cleaned well. Most people are nice, except for the bosses. The people who help out are too busy and leave because they're not looked after properly. The food comes really late. I won't talk about the activities. Overall, they only do the basics. It's hard to get the bosses to listen. It took a long time for the head boss to respond to a problem. The place is dirty and old. I don't think it's worth the money. I wouldn't tell people to go there.

"Professional and Kind Staff at Heritage Place"
We have been very happy with Heritage Place. The staff has been very professional and kind. We always found mom in good condition when we visited. She was in the memory care unit, so she didn't talk much or interact with other residents. She didn't join in the activities. Mom passed away earlier this year, and the staff was very supportive and compassionate.

"Cozy and Friendly Assisted Living"
This place feels so cozy and friendly when you step inside. The staff takes great care of my Mother-In-Law, always attentive to her needs. They offer fun activities like exercise classes, church events, games, bus rides, and even weekly store trips. Plus, they keep her engaged and active. I'd definitely recommend this community to other families.

"Inhospitable Facility Does Not Encourage Independence"
This facility is definitely disappointing. When I contacted the management there, I made it clear that my mom is very self-sufficient and I was considering canceling the arranged tour. However, she insisted that despite being an assisted living facility, their residents are full of life and independent. Even though I was reluctant, her persuasion led me to check it out. The location was very remote and hard to reach. Upon entering, it immediately struck me that most residents appeared to be heavily medicated. Contrary to the management's claims of vibrance, these folks were barely alert. None of them seemed in touch with their surroundings. My mom, ever the optimist, tried engaging with a resident about their book club. His explanation was hardly inspiring - they simply select a book, gather in a room and listen to the audio version. I saw no intellectual engagement or anything remotely stimulating about it. It seemed like a suitable place only for someone I deeply detested - maybe then I would consider admitting my mother there.

"Dad’s Happy at Memory Care: Nice Staff, Good Food"
My dad’s in the memory care part of this place, and he’s doing great. The nurses are really getting to know him, and they’ve been super nice to him and to us too. His room is just the right size, and he’s comfy there. Plus, he likes the food. I’d tell anyone who asked that this place is a good choice.

"Heritage Place: A Perfect Home for Mom"
My mom just moved into Heritage Place, and she is having the time of her life! She lived at an independent living place for a couple of years, but her dementia was getting worse, and she was forgetting to take care of herself. We got really worried and knew she needed a new place. We checked out everywhere in Bountiful, but Heritage Place felt like home for her. She got to choose her own paint color for the walls and even added some activities to their already amazing list. They went the extra mile to make it perfect for my mom, and they also helped me relax about her health. Whenever I ask them to change little things, like the microwave, they do it within minutes. Every time I call her now, she tells me she is going out with friends or having a good time. Thanks for taking care of my mom!

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility!"
This nursing home for memory care seems to be short-handed. This leads to problems such as locating staff, ensuring everyone is fed properly, maintaining cleanliness, and arranging engaging activities. There is a noticeable contrast in the decorations and holiday adornments between the assisted living and memory care areas. Several employees were exceptional and compassionate. However, due to a high rate of staff changes, others seemed to just be passing the time. Communication between shifts often appeared to be lacking. We were grateful for some aspects but irked by others. We do recognize that it must be a pretty tough job!

"Decent Care, Disappointing Dining"
My dad's doing fine at this place, but we're not too happy with the meals. The food's really not great, and it feels like they're not putting effort into it. The place is usually tidy, but they don't clean his room much. The employees are all friendly and they're working hard to look after him. He's tried out some of the activities they have - there's a big selection. Overall, they're taking good care of him, and I'd suggest this place to others.

"Middle-of-the-Road Facility Needs Improvement"
This wasn't a top pick for me, but my sibling decided on it. My mom has only been here a few months and she's already had a fall. She's also taking more medicine than ever. The place seems to be understaffed. On days when there aren't enough staff, my mom and the other residents miss their regular showers and room cleaning. I've joined my mom for meals a few times - the food is okay. In my opinion, Heritage Place isn't star-worthy, it could do with some improvements in the rooms. There aren't many activities on offer either.

"The staff is friendly, but there was a refund issue."
The staff was nice, but I wouldn't recommend this place. I asked about a refund if my relative didn't stay the full 14 days, and they promised one. However, when she left after only 5 days, they didn't give me the refund they initially promised. Eventually, they agreed to refund some money.

"Significant Issues at Heritage Assisted Living"
My mother in law spent about a year in Heritage assisted living. Her initial transition was awful. Costs were misquoted and messages were not passed among staff. Despite these issues, we chose to proceed. Initially, she was content, but soon things started to go awry. Medication mix-ups became common and her meals and showers were often skipped. Activities did not involve her. The director did not provide any assistance. Even after appealing to [name removed], there was no resolution. Eventually, they advised us that she had to be moved to a memory care unit or be asked to leave. As she is from another state and had no backup plans, we felt cornered and moved her to the memory care unit - a huge mistake. This unit is severely understaffed. Employees hardly interact with the residents. A movie would be playing and the caregivers would disappear, leaving residents to themselves. When you need aid or have inquiries, you can hardly find help. Calls to management are futile as they're clueless about the situations in the facility. The level of communication could not be more appalling. I wish I could share all the negative experiences we've had after moving my mother in law there, but it would take forever. The schedule of activities is deceiving, as most are not carried out as written. You can tell that the staff, mainly high school aged individuals seeking health care experience, don't really enjoy their jobs or taking care of these lovely elderly folks. The assisted living unit is slightly better, but it still shares many of the same problems. I would highly discourage anyone from considering this place for a loved one in need of memory care. Spare yourself the stress and explore other options.

"Adequate elderly care but lacks in memory care services"
If you're here just for elderly help and you don't need help for memory issues, this place would rank about three, maybe even four stars. But when it comes to memory care, it only gets two stars. We weren't really happy. I think they need more helpers for the number of people living there. For my mom's area, there was only 1 staff for every 13 people. I also think they need more training on memory care. They do a great job with the elderly care, but memory care seems to be a weak point. The staff is nice and the place is really clean though.

"Communication and Care Improving; Food and Activities Satisfactory"
This place is really clean, and the people who work here are nice. But when we first started, they weren't good at returning our calls, so we didn't always know what was going on. It took them a while to figure out the right medicine for my relative, and sometimes they forgot to make sure she ate if she didn't show up for meals. But things have gotten better now. We all understand things more, and we're learning how to deal with any problems. My relative doesn't like the food much, but there are plenty of things for her to do here.

"Nice place with transfer issues, otherwise everything is good."
The place is really nice, but they're struggling with transfers. It's clean and the staff is friendly. Mom thinks the food is excellent, and there are lots of activities. I don’t have any issues with parking or billing or anything else, except for the transfer problems. They did an assessment and said it wouldn't be an issue, but now it is becoming one. Some of the staff, especially the younger and less experienced ones, are having trouble with it. Besides that, everything else is great.

"Unsatisfactory Stay at Assisted Living Facility"
This place was pretty nice, and the people working there, especially Tiffany, were really nice. However, it wasn't the right fit for our family member. The thing that bothered me the most was that even though we didn't stay long, we didn't get our facility fee back, which we didn't really use. We told them we were leaving ahead of time, but they didn't say if we could get our money back. I think we should have.

"Pretty Smooth Experience So Far"
Things have been going pretty well so far. The room is clean, but the hallway carpets look a bit worn. There's a sewer smell coming from the bathroom drain too. We pay extra for an escort to take her to meals and activities, but I'm not sure if they check on her as much as they should. Loneliness and depression seem common among the older residents. They encourage participation, but they can't force anyone.

Disappointed Family
"Dissatisfied with Subpar Care and Persistent Issues"
Honestly, we're disappointed with the place. Their service is lacking and we've encountered numerous issues. We feel like we're paying too much for what we receive in return. They do host decent activities, but my mother-in-law doesn't join in. I believe that their training approach for the CNAs and caregivers could use some improvement. Maybe they need a structured feedback system from the residents. We've raised our concerns with the management and they have tried to make adjustments but unfortunately, problems persist. Our complaints vary, ranging from cleanliness, care, maintenance to the attitude of the receptionist. Every time, there's a new issue. Yes, they were cheaper than other places, which is why we chose them but they're still expensive. Given the price, we really didn't have much of a choice.
