"Expensive Pills, Little Help: Assisted Living Review"
As for the staff and the place, it’s pretty nice. We moved my mom because we were paying a lot over a month—for them to give her pills. But that’s all they did. And even though it’s assisted living, they charged her husband too, for no reason. He didn’t get any help.

"Friendly staff, lacking care; overpaying for unnecessary services."
Most staff are friendly. We discuss parents' troubles often. Food's good. Need more light meal options. Paying for 3rd level care but only get meds. Overpaying for 1st level care not needed.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Apartments"
Our family visited in person, and the lady who showed us around was fantastic. She even stayed in touch weeks later. However, the apartments felt more like hotel rooms and lacked a personal touch.

"“Sagewood Falls Short on Space and Layout”"
Sagewood was our second option. We didn’t prefer its layout as much—it felt less open, and there was limited outdoor space.

"All That Glitters Isn't Gold: Beware of Sagewood"
Don't be fooled by the looks of Sagewood's fancy buildings, so-called "amenities", and food they offer. What truly matters is the quality of care your relative receives and the communication maintained with the administration. Sagewood falls short in both these aspects. They might be good at marketing, but the facility is so massive that it's unusual to spot staff members actually interacting with the residents. The staff promises to include your relative in activities and assures to accompany them, but if they're assisted living residents, it's unlikely to happen. It's a rare occurrence that someone actually invited my mom to a function. Most of the events she attended were because of my efforts in taking her there. I had to move my mom out in just three months. I found myself constantly reminding the staff that she had run out of toilet tissue, needed help dressing, and to remember her Depends. I attempted to leave messages for them regarding her care and medication only to receive responses days later. A simple urinary tract infection remained undiagnosed for weeks. Sadly, I made the error of choosing Sagewood based on the additional amenities they boasted of, but in reality, the facility caters mainly to independent living residents. If your relative requires assisted living, I strongly suggest researching to find smaller, more attentive facilities. I eventually shifted my mom to another facility and it turned out to be the best decision I made for her. There, she's involved and participates in daily activities. The facility maintains an electronic record documenting her daily experiences, including her meals, her moods, any issues she faces, and all the activities she indulges in. I can call and receive a response the same day. The staffing is great and they respond to my queries and concerns promptly.

"Expensive Living and Quick to Suggest Assisted Care"
This place looks nice and everyone seems nice too. You need to be rich to stay here if you'd like to live by your own. They provide money for food but it's still quite expensive to eat. You could end up worrying if your food money would last. I also got the feeling that they might propose assisted living sooner than other places would. Maybe that's not fair of me to say, but I've been there twice in two years and I still feel the same way.

"Avoid Sagewood if Your Parent Requires Extensive Care"
Do not consider this place if your loved one requires high-quality assistance. Sadly, my experience with Sagewood's memory care unit for my mother was less than satisfactory. Initially, my visit there gave a positive impression. However, as my mother's needs escalated, it became clear that the level of care did not. During my visits, I'd find her with food stains on her clothes and a urine smell. I attempted addressing these issues with the nursing director and urged the CNA's to ensure my mother bathed. One evening I was appalled to find her bed soiled with dried feces and urine. Though I managed to get help to change her bedding and reported the incident to the nursing director, problems persisted. Soon after, one of the aids informed me that they found my mother sleeping on the floor. Even more concerning was the other aid's suggestion to leave her there as my mother reportedly enjoyed sleeping on the floor. This enraged me, and I decided to bring my mom home. Tragically, she passed away after five days. During this period, I discovered that Sagewood had been neglecting prescribed hospice medications for my mother. Moreover, despite an ongoing Norovirus outbreak in the facility causing diarrhea, the aids continued giving her stool softeners. Heartbroken and aghast, I had to have my niece look after my mom till I could set up a hospital bed at home. To think of the deficient care my mother endured in her final months at Sagewood is heartbreaking. I strongly advise against this facility if your loved one needs more than minimal assistance.

"Staff really cares and the place feels comfortable."
This place has been great so far. The staff truly cares about the residents, and it's nice to see the administration spending time with them too. The facility is clean and cozy. They offer activities like physical therapy, swimming, a library, and exercise classes. The food isn't homemade, but it's still good. I would recommend it to other families.

"Impressive, welcoming center with many options for residents!"
I was really impressed with how the center felt—it was very open and welcoming. They had many options and listened to our needs, showing us the best fit. There are a lot of things there to keep the residents happy. I’m looking forward to taking my mom there for a visit too.

"Memory Care Side Felt Institutionalized"
The whole community was really nice. It felt bright and cheerful. However, the memory care side seemed a bit too institutionalized. They had vinyl flooring, and the floor plan was circular. The community was quite large. I was told that if I wanted more activities for my loved one, he could go to the assisted living side. But I thought that might be overwhelming for him and cause more confusion. The price was the same as other communities we considered.

"Lovely Assisted Living with Engaging Activities, No Medicaid Accepted"
Today, I visited Sagewood with [Removed]a. Oh my, what a pretty place! They ask for a $2500 set-up fee, but they give a $1000 credit for the second month. That helps with moving in, but the rooms are already furnished, so moving Mom's stuff isn't too pricey. I met the activity director, who's really nice and involved with the residents. While I was there, they were baking cookies, which was fun. There's a sunny room and a big courtyard, too. I asked if they could lower the fee, but sadly, they can't. They also don't accept Medicaid.

"Did Not Tour Just Spoke On The Phone"
I phoned the salesperson at this community. They offer both assisted living and memory care, which was what I needed. However, the prices were higher than my mom wanted to pay, so touring didn’t make sense.

"Wide Range of Care Options in Modern Community"
We really liked this place when we visited. It's bigger than others we checked, but that's because they have different levels of care, from living on your own to memory care. The place is newer than most and looks modern. The staff were really helpful and nice, very professional. The location wasn't perfect for us.

"Care Concerns at Nice Community with Staffing Needs"
At this place, I'm a bit worried about the care. It's a nice spot, but they really need more people working here to take care of everyone. They should also get better at keeping in touch with families. Sometimes, the staff can't help the residents when they need it, and using the call button doesn't always work. They do have lots of fun activities for the residents, though. One lady I know loves using the pool. Families should double-check if this is the right place for their loved ones' care.

"Expensive!"
We visited Sagewood at Daybreak while searching for respite care for my mother-in-law. The facility seemed pleasant, but getting in wasn’t straightforward. Plus, it cost twice as much as the other place I considered.

"Great Place, But Not for Us"
This place is really nice. They have three cafeterias and a pool. It feels open and clean. I talked to a lady there, and she was super nice. They even allow dogs. After the tour, I felt it was more than she needed, and the price was too high.

"Safe and Caring Community with Great Activities and Staff"
My uncle had a great time at this place. Everything looks nice and clean. The people who work here are really nice and they listen when I have questions. There are a lot of things for him to do here. The food is good, but it costs a lot to eat with him. But overall, I know he's safe and taken care of. I would tell others to come here too.

"Always Making Dad Feel Included"
My dad is staying at this community, and he says he's happy. The place is clean and well-kept. I like the new staff who know how to help a blind resident; they always include my dad in activities. Dad enjoys all the meals and says they're good. I would recommend this community and A Place For Mom for anyone needing a helping hand.
