Sunrise at Holladay

"Costly for high-needs residents, otherwise a pleasant facility."
It's a nice place, but if the person moving in needs a lot of help, it gets really expensive.

"High Expectations Dashed"
Compared to other places we visited, our tour at Sunrise at Holladay was not as good as we hoped. I thought the place was kind of boring. Also, the cost was too much for what they offer in activities and the people who work there.

"Deceptive Pricing and Neglectful Care in Assisted Living Facility"
This place is not good. They say one price but then charge more without explaining why. They don't have enough staff for the people living there. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone. Also, they leave residents alone in the shower, which causes them to fall.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
My dad stayed in the memory care center, but it didn't seem well-prepared for memory care. The assisted living side was better, though. The staff were okay, not super friendly. Eventually, we moved my loved one to another community.

"Great care and comfort at Sunrise at Holladay highly recommended"
We’ve been really happy with Sunrise at Holladay. My sister likes the staff and the place is always clean. She also enjoys the activities they offer. It’s great that she could keep her car and bring her kitten along. I definitely recommend this place; it’s been a huge relief for our whole family.

"Welcoming and Spacious Assisted Living with Friendly Staff"
We have visited this place twice and each time we felt really good about it. The rooms are a bit older, but they are big, have good closet space, and lots of light. The staff is friendly and the residents are well taken care of. Both entrances are nice and welcoming, allowing independent and assisted residents to mix. There are plenty of open areas and activities on all floors. Our hostess, is great at her job with many years of experience and lots of information for visitors. I think the independent living in this licensed assisted living facility could be extended and enriching. This is my favorite place so far in my search. This opinion is based on my second visit with my wife.

"Relaxing atmosphere with beautiful views"
The atmosphere here is very relaxing and feels open, not cramped at all. People move around naturally, and it’s neither too crowded nor too empty. The assisted living area looks a lot like the independent living area, which I think is great. They each have their own spaces but are still part of the same facility. There's a nice dining bistro, and the place doesn’t feel sterile. There’s a good mix of people my loved one’s age, and they offer activities for the residents. Plus, they have FREE underground parking! Our apartment is beautiful, with views of the canyon and mountains. The gentleman who gave us a tour was excellent. Overall, this place is a great fit for my loved one. The whole process was easy because it really helps to talk to someone who knows what they’re doing.

"Good Stay, Doubts Over Service Availability"
The folks working at this place were friendly. Unfortunately, they couldn't provide all the help my dad needed during his short stay. The place was pleasant and spotless. The meals were appetizing, and they even provided healthy choices. I guess this place could work for a short break if the person staying was completely bed-bound.

"Amazing Staff and Care!"
My mom recently moved into this community, and I couldn’t be happier with how things are going for her. She started in the memory care unit, but she’s doing so well that she’ll be moving to assisted living. The staff are fantastic and always encourage her to join activities and stay busy throughout the day. Overall, I’m very happy and would highly recommend this place to anyone.

This community is pleasant, and the folks we encountered during our tour were friendly. They even allow pets and organize daily activities. However, it's a bit too far away for us.

"Great Care and Happy Dad"
This is a great home for my dad. The staff is awesome and always ready to help him. The meals are good and he seems happy. They have activities, but he doesn’t join in. He really enjoys the music they bring in for entertainment. I would recommend this place to others who want good care for their family members.

"Great Care and Clean Community for My Dad"
My dad had a really good time at this place. We moved him closer to family, but that was the only reason. I felt he was safe and well cared for. The community was always clean and looked nice. They had fun activities for everyone, and he enjoyed the meals. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend this place.

"Nice Facility, but Needs Better Management and Staffing"
The building is pretty nice and most of the staff are really friendly. However, there aren't enough care takers, and how things are run could be better. Considering what it costs, the service isn't good enough. The main boss is cool but doesn't seem to be in charge of day-to-day stuff (not sure who is). The food is okay, but they could offer healthier meals for everyone.

"Assisted Living Tour: Disappointing and Frustrating Experience"
Last week, my buddy and I brought my grandpa to look at this assisted living place. Right from the start, we had problems. In the parking lot, we asked for help getting grandpa into a wheelchair, but we waited for a good 20 minutes before anybody came. And when they did come, they couldn't even handle it. And it’s not like he's huge. He’s just 150 lbs. and around 5'6". So, it shouldn't be this challenging for experts. But that was only the start. The lady who led us around wasn't great either. She guided us into people's rooms - the folks who already live there. It was pretty awkward. Only one person knew we were coming to check the room. That really annoyed me. If grandpa was staying here and I found out they were doing this to him, I’d be mega mad. This lady brushed off my grandpa and my friend a few times as well. I guess she figured only I had some cash since she only talked to me. At one point, she admitted to ignoring him because of his wheelchair. She said she was sorry but she persisted doing it. When we finished touring, we asked her for a bit of time to talk it over. She said okay, but didn’t give us any privacy. When grandpa asked about the cost, she brushed him off and kept trying to give me the papers instead, even after I told her grandpa should be the one getting them. Also, the activities they have in the day weren’t appealing. The day we visited, the big event was watching the Carol Burnett show all together. But no one looked like they were having fun at all. They all seemed pretty gloomy and bored. As you can guess, Grandpa didn’t choose that place. I seriously strongly suggest they find a new lady to show folks around. She made us want to bolt straight outta there.

"Inflexible Kitchen Fails to accommodate Special Diets"
The biggest problem we're facing is that while this place professes to cater to specialized diets, this hasn't been our experience. My Mom keeps getting responses like "just don't eat it!" from the kitchen staff whenever she brings up her diet. Certain foods, especially the lunch soups and the morning scrambled eggs, result in severe stomach issues. She can't handle items cooked in tropical oils, soybean oil, or typical "vegetable" oil, but the staff dismisses her complaints. They charge over $4000 a month that covers a small apartment and meals, so you'd expect they could accommodate special diets. I worry about other residents with special diet needs, like those with diabetes. We're now actively seeking a new place that actually addresses special dietary requirements.

"Caring and Honest Staff Provided Amazing Support"
I felt like they were very caring and honest with us. Even though our loved one was there for just 20 days, they refunded us some money. They showed such kindness and honesty. On the day my loved one passed away, they were incredibly caring and kind. It was the best experience we could have had.
