"Unsatisfactory Care and Poor Communication"
I wasn’t happy with anything there. They didn’t talk to us well about medicine and health stuff, the workers didn’t pay much attention (just sat around on their phones), and they didn’t help with eating like they promised. They didn’t seem to care about what we were worried about at all. It wasn’t very clean either. Plus, they didn’t give us enough drinks.

"Friendly Staff, Good Rates, and Balanced Communication"
The staff are really nice, friendly, and helpful. They let you know if something important is happening but don’t call too much. Their rates are good. I’m not sure what they could do better right now, but I’ll think about it.

"Friendly staff with good activities, some dining challenges"
Bright Leaf has been a great place so far. The staff are always super nice and friendly with our loved one. We had a few issues with dining service. Because of our loved one’s mobility, they need help getting to the dining hall, and sometimes, when it’s busy, the staff might forget. But this has only happened a few times, and we understand it with the staffing challenges. The activities, like bingo and Bible studies, are pretty good, and the transportation service is really good too.

"Memory Care Staff Deserves Praise"
The staff at Bright Leaf Place Danville is wonderful. They go above and beyond, treating our mom like family. However, the Memory Care area needs more space and renovation. The cramped sitting and dining areas are right next to each other, and the staff's office is too small. Despite this, the Memory Care staff deserves commendation. Well done, ladies and gentlemen!

"Nice community with good care but fewer activities now"
This is a really nice place. My loved one seems well cared for, and the staff is friendly and attentive. It’s comforting to know my loved one is here. I’m happy with the care they’ve received so far. The food isn’t as hot as my loved one would like. When we visited, there was a full schedule of activities, but there aren’t as many now that my loved one has moved in. Because of the pandemic, there haven’t been any outings for the residents.

"She Care and Dishonesty at Assisted Living Facility"
This place is run by folks who can't be trusted and don't give enough care. The contract's tricky, and they try to rip off the residents. There's nothing fun to do and the food's worse than school lunch. The managers boss the residents around and totally used my family member. They made her let them handle her meds, but then didn't give them right. They even dropped some on the floor and didn't pick them up. A recent state checkup said they messed up with meds. They completely ignore what the residents want or need.

"Inadequate Care at High Price. Improved Experience for Less Money."
I honestly believe that if I hadn't removed my husband from that assisted living facility, he would not have survived. I had to admit him to the hospital because he was dangerously dehydrated and his sodium levels were alarmingly high. He had taken three falls there, and the stitches from these incidents were left in his head from. Thankfully, I've since found him a much better facility where he is now staying. At this new place, he eats regular meals, converses more, receives regular baths, and is given enough fluids. I urge you to get your loved one out of that terrible facility. I was paying $4,228.00 a month there. But now, I only pay $1,500.00 per month at the improved facility. My husband is happy, well-nourished, and taken care of at this far less expensive place. The previous facility was nothing more than a money-making scheme.

"Mixed Bag: More Cons Than Pros"
When we visited this place, we noticed a strong urine smell. The food didn’t look appetizing and overall, it didn’t seem good. Although the community offered many things, none of them were what our loved one needed. Unfortunately, there were more cons than pros with this community.

"Assisted Living Home Fails in Care and Nutrition"
If you truly care for your loved one, don't consider this assisted living home. My own child often tells me that her school serves better food. They even make their medical team serve meals and clean up the kitchen. Overworked, I've often had to help wheelchair-bound residents get back to their rooms. The breakfast is made up of powdered eggs, and the lunch menu is spaghetti, hash browns, and potatoes, all served to residents with diabetes and heart issues. Dinner is no better with just a sandwich and chips. This place has a high rate of staff change due to the poor treatment of workers and residents alike. The manager and director are focused primarily on money. The only good thing about this place is the staff who care for the residents despite mistreatment from management. Whenever there is a power outage, they do not check if the clients who rely on oxygen are okay. I've heard countless complaints from staff members about the mistreatment and even abuse of memory care clients.
