"Staff Unresponsive at BrightView, Unfit for Dementia Care"

I had no choice but to move my husband out of BrightView. Even though the place looks nice, it felt like the staff didn't really care about the dementia patients. They'd get a doctor to give a prescription, and afterwards, tell us about it. They even kept ringing my home phone despite me specifically asking them, in person and in writing, to use my cell. I don't think this place is good for those needing dementia care.

"Shocking Negligence, Poor Care Standards at BrightView Facility"

Like the review before me, I strongly advise you to do your homework before choosing BrightView. Make sure to drop by without notice to see what a regular day there is really like. They promise a lot of activities and vibrant living. But from my experience, the reality is quite different. The daily schedule might show a lot of plans, but I haven't seen much enthusiasm or variety. They don't encourage residents to take part, especially during evenings and weekends. There's no doctor at BrightView, just a "nurse". I've found that the nurses don't seem too knowledgeable or observant about the residents' needs. The person in charge of the nurses is quite distant and cold. One of the nurses especially, [name removed], is frankly disinterested. She hardly ever has time to deal with residents' problems but can spend ages chatting with other employees. I wouldn't trust her, or anyone there, to look after my relative. When a health problem comes up, they play it down, so if you want your family member to be taken care of properly, you'll have to be there to ensure they are. The way they handle medication is very troubling. It's not rare for residents to get the wrong meds, if they get any. Employees who interact with residents directly are cold and impersonal. I've rarely seen them show any warmth or care. My relative was once left in a soiled diaper for a whole day, and when I questioned this, I was told he'd said he didn't need it changed. The hygiene standards for the memory care unit residents are appalling. More often than not, residents don't get help with oral care, are overdue for a shower, or need their hair washed. When you try to bring up these problems with the BrightView Director, her solution is always to raise the resident's care level – costing you more. Instead of addressing the problems with her team, she'll blame it on your family member. If you complain, you're not very popular with the staff, especially the Management. Honestly, it's gotten so bad that families are scared to talk over problems with her because of the money issue, and the fear of how their loved ones will be treated afterwards. To put it plainly, unless you're able to be around to make sure your family member is treated with kindness and proper care, BrightView isn't the right choice. If you have no other options, I strongly advise you to drop by without warning at different times during the day and night to see how your loved one is being treated. Do your research!

"A Great Place for My Husband!"

My husband has been in the Memory Unit at Brightview since November. The place is great! I’m so thankful I found Brightview. The staff is amazing, the food is delicious, the facility looks nice and is well-kept, and my husband gets the care and activities he needs. If you’re looking for a place for a loved one, you should definitely check out Brightview.

"Excellent New Home for Mom"

My 96-year-old mom has been at Brightview for a year. We're very happy with the staff and accommodations. It's a lively and happy place. The staff makes her feel good and takes care of her. There are daily activities and many outings. She feels safe and well cared for. The director, [name removed], is very kind and responsive. I highly recommend Brightview.

"Brightview Wellsprings Criticized for Poor Care and Management"

Be sure to thoroughly examine Brightview Wellsprings (Annandale, VA) before entrusting them with your loved ones! The quality of care and food is appalling. It's important for individuals with Alzheimer's to have a consistent routine, an aspect this facility fails to offer. The director appears unfit to manage and has led this place into decline. It's been a year since we placed our loved one into their care, attracted by the pleasing surroundings, but things have gone drastically downhill with changes in staff and leadership. The ambiance feels uncomfortably chilly. If you aren't available to personally attend to your loved one every day, ensure their well-being might not be addressed. Ensure you carry out ample research and make several unannounced visits to this place before resigning your loved one to their care.

"Research Thoroughly Before Choosing Brightview Wellsprings"

Make sure you do your homework before deciding to place your beloved family member at Brightview Wellsprings in Annandale, VA! The quality of both service and food here is highly disappointing. When dealing with Alzheimer's disease, consistency of care is vital and this is certainly not what we found here. The current director seems to lack leadership skills and has driven the facility into poor shape. We initially admired the environment when we admitted our loved one a year ago. However, with the constant shuffle of staff and a new director, the quality has seen a downfall. The aura of the place now appears too cold and uncaring. If you don't personally look after your loved one every single day, no one else will. So, I highly advise that you thoroughly research and plan multiple surprise visits before trusting this place with your loved one's well-being.

"Enjoyable Visit to Facility, But Not Ideal for My Spouse"

I visited this community and had a good time. Everyone was nice and helpful. The place looked clean, and the staff was friendly. They answered all my questions, and overall, my tour experience was nice. However, it wasn't suitable for my wife.

"Beautiful facility with a welcoming introduction at Brightview"

I had a great experience at Brightview. The staff spent a lot of time giving me a detailed introduction, which I really appreciated. The place is beautiful, like a fancy European resort!
