"Nice Place for Elderly Care"

Getting old is hard. Vitality is a really nice place, though. Taking care of older people is a tough job. I think the manager, [name removed], does a good job. This is my first time dealing with this, so I'm not an expert on what to expect.

"Caring Staff at Vitality Living"

Before I joined Vitality Living, I had health problems. But the friendly staff took great care of me after I moved in. Kudos to the executive director for keeping things running smoothly!

"Chose Vitality Arlington for location, care, and welcoming atmosphere; recommended."

After visiting several assisted living places, my family chose Vitality Arlington for its great location, caretaker-to-resident ratio, friendly greeting staff, management's willingness to help with my move, and good value for services. The wellness center staff is attentive to residents' needs, and management knows everyone by name. I usually don't write reviews, but this community has helped me recover well, and I wanted to share that.

"Convenient and Engaging Assisted Living with Welcoming Outdoor Spaces"

The process from scheduling a tour to moving in was a bit confusing at first, but everything worked out in the end. Vitality is in a great location near our home, and there are plenty of outdoor areas to explore when we visit. The person who plans activities is always there and involved when we come by. The Wellness director has been good about keeping us informed, and there's a beautiful outdoor courtyard. We picked Vitality because it matched what we were looking for to provide the best and most comfortable environment for our loved one.

"Communication Gap in Assisted Living"

The assisted living facility is lively, with friendly staff and a variety of dining options. However, communication about residents’ needs could improve.

"Vibrant Community with Diverse Activities"

Our family really enjoys the variety of social activities at Vitality Living Arlington. They offer French conversation, wine tasting, a movie theater, and a hair salon. Based on our experience, we recommend this community to other families seeking a place for their loved ones.

"Pleasant tour, caring environment at The Watermark at Bellingham."

Our tour at The Watermark at Bellingham was pleasant and caring.

"Great location and friendly staff"

We picked Vitality Living Arlington mostly because it's close to everything, and they have a free taxi service that my dad loves. The place looks nice and fancy - the building is really pretty. My dad's room has big bay windows, so it's very bright. Almost everyone has been really friendly. We would suggest this place to other families looking for assisted living.

"Clean, friendly, not medical care-oriented"

The staff was friendly, and the community was clean and pleasant. We felt it was a good value and would recommend it, though it's not for medical needs.

"A Welcoming Place with Lots to Offer"

At Vitality, visiting our loved one was easy and fun. The staff were patient, friendly, and professional. The food was good, and our loved one enjoyed a cozy apartment with personal touches. Plus, there were plenty of activities!

"Great food and therapy helped cousin recover at Brookdale Arlington"

Brookdale Arlington was used for 30 days so my cousin could get more physical therapy and recover from a bad drug reaction. He said the food was great and he liked the Bible study. He’s a loner, so he didn’t join other activities, though there were many available. By the time he left, he was walking on his own and could return to his apartment.

"Safe and Convenient Assisted Living for My Wife's Needs"

My wife had a tough time settling in here, but she's doing better now. I think she's safe, though the staff could pay more attention. Apart from that, they're pretty good. The place is kept clean, they offer nice activities and meals. It's easy for me to visit, with good parking. Overall, it's the right fit for my wife.

"Clean, Informative, but Location Fit Lacks"

This place was nice, and it got a makeover recently. It's kept clean and tidy. The people who showed us around were super friendly and told us everything we needed to know. They seem to have a lot of activities for the residents who can still get out and do things. But, the location wasn't exactly what we were looking for compared to other places.

"Great Options, Patio Concerns"

The location played a big role in my choice. During the tour, everything looked nice without any issues. However, the community is a high-rise building without a patio, which won't suit my sister's preference. Still, they provide excellent options."

"Great tour for my mom's care!"

We visited this community to find care for my mom. The staff was caring and friendly. We appreciated the welcoming staff and the clean environment. The menu looked nice, and we were impressed with the lunch served during our tour. The activities seemed helpful, too. We really like this community and recommend it to others looking for good care and value for their loved ones.

"Loving and caring place!"

The staff at Brookdale were amazing! My loved one needs special care due to his condition, but the staff were very accommodating and did everything they could to ensure he was comfortable and well cared for. We also liked that his room was very private, and the facility looks nice. This is a loving and caring place!

"Everything is great here!!"

My loved one has really enjoyed living in this community. The staff have been great to him, and he is making friends with other residents. He hasn’t complained about the food and likes the different activities offered each week. Overall, we are all very happy.

"Bug Sighting Leads to Unfavorable Community Opinion"

When I toured this place, it didn't last long. That's because we saw a bug in one of the rooms. Seeing the bug made me think this place isn't super clean. The employees were nice and seemed cool. But this wasn't the place for my mom and dad.

"A Great Place to Live!"

I toured this community and saw a lot going on. There were many activities, and we even joined a party. I liked all the staff I met, and my tour guide was on time and focused on my questions. The community was very nice and well-kept, and I had a great experience on this tour.

"Top-Notch Memory Care and Physical Therapy"

My mother is in the Memory Care Unit at Brookdale. The owners lead the unit and do a wonderful job, along with all the other caregivers. The atmosphere is warm, attentive, and professional. I’ve been extremely pleased with the care she’s receiving, both daily and in the Physical Therapy Department where she gets treatment every day. The Executive Director is phenomenal.

"Poor Facility Experience: Meager Services, Miscommunication, and Sloppy Supervision"

Our Experience Here Was Unsatisfactory" At this facility, we ran into several issues. They charged a big community fee that could be returned, but only within the first thirty days. It appeared as though they delayed me intentionally just so I couldn't move out before the refund-period elapsed. The elevators are tiny and outdated, and there only two available. Another significant issue is security: they don't lock the resident's rooms when they're not there. Additionally, the supervisors do not adequately monitor the residents, meaning they can freely wander into each other's rooms. The facility consists of a second and third floor, one for residents with severe conditions and one for residents with milder conditions. However, they incorrectly communicated to me that it was the other way round. The staff-to-resident ratio is unsatisfying. The quality of food they serve is subpar, and they don't seem to cater to unique dietary needs. The environment was also lacking in mental-activity stimulations. Despite these issues, they had a reliable security system involving bracelets that triggers an alarm if anyone leaves the designated area. Their rates were also quite reasonable, but overall, our experience here was a real letdown.

"Headline: Brookdale Arlington—Poor Staff Attitude and Inadequate Environment"

Brookdale of Arlington is smack in the middle of a busy city scene, filled with constant traffic and chaos. Upside: They checked out my brother first and did let us know they couldn't take him on before we had our scheduled meeting. Downside: There's no place to park! Staff members showed bad attitudes when they thought nobody was watching them outside the building. The entrance felt like the busy front desk of a sub-par hotel. On top of that, Brookdale sent an email saying my brother was only the second person they'd ever turned away. Well, they'll be happy to know, he's doing great in his new home. So they're right - the atmosphere and staff really do make all the difference.

"Limited Dining and Parking Options: 3.5 Stars"

At this place, there were only three lunch options, while some spots offered five. Also, parking for visitors was quite limited, with only two slots available. If those are taken, you'd have to hunt for a metered spot. Luckily, on Sundays, parking is free for all.

"Unhappy with Services at Brookdale Arlington Assisted Living"

My sister won't be able to stay at Brookdale Arlington for much longer. She's getting worse. She, a worker there, is alright. She gives me useful info and looks after my sister. But to my sister, all the nurses look the same. She can't tell them apart. Some workers are nice, others, not so much. I feel like I'm not getting what I'm paying for. My sister's kidneys are failing and I don't think this place can provide the right care. Once, I had to pick her up from the hospital at 1:30 am and bring her back here. There weren't any staff members to help. This lady who said she was just on night watch couldn't assist! My sister had to stay in what she had on. Overall, I'm not too happy with this place.

""Inexperienced Management and Subpar Care at this Facility""

The administrators of this place seem like they're new to the care industry. I've frequently noticed garbage piling up at the main entrance. The only real highlight is their physical therapy, but even that's provided by an outside company. The nursing staff lacks adequate training and they're all LPNs, so mistakes keep happening. Plus, the people providing care often speak sharply to the residents.

"Okay but tight parking and small rooms"

It's okay, but parking is a big problem and the rooms are super tiny.

"Common areas are beautiful; friendly staff and great presentations!"

The common areas are beautiful, and the staff is friendly and involved. I attended a great presentation about Aid and Attendance grants for Veterans. We didn't tour because the price list was more than we could afford.

"Overall pleased with Emeritus. Helpful staff, good value."

Happy with Emeritus. Helpful staff, good communication, worth the money.

"Quite Happy with Emeritus"

Emeritus has a fantastic location with private off-street parking when you need it. The staff is super helpful and flexible, and they offer on-site physical therapy. The rooms are nice, and they put in a real effort with activities. The meals and dining options are very good, with several seatings and a great variety.

"Struggles with Parking, Elevator Wait and No Green Space"

The parking was awful and you have to wait forever for the elevator. We checked out the one-bedroom apartment, but the living room felt a bit too tight to me. There's no stove in the kitchen area, so my grandma would have to use an electric kettle. I also noticed there was only a concrete patio off the activity or dining area; there wasn't any real grassy area.

"Good Therapy but Lacking Supervision at Assisted Living Facility"

They managed to help her walk again, but I don't think they monitored her as much as they should have. When she first arrived, she was too weak to walk to the restroom by herself. However, within a fortnight, she was walking. I feel they ought to have had someone accompany her to the eatery every day, instead of letting her traverse alone after just two weeks. She ended up falling in the eatery, which resulted in a broken hip. This led to her hospitalization, a cardiac arrest, and eventually her death. The lack of a sympathy card from the facility post her demise was surprising. Instead, our family received a bill for the meals served in her room. She wasn't at the facility for even a month before the unfortunate incident occurred. I must admit, their physical therapy services are commendable, but their supervision system is not satisfactory. Their dining and meal services are comparatively better. However, their activities were not particularly impressive. The only activity I ever witnessed during my visits was chair aerobics. However, my mother's stay was limited to about 2-3 weeks. The facility's location is advantageous. It is conveniently located for taking your dear ones out for lunch or a coffee. There's even a mall within walking distance.

"Lovely Community with Great Care Options"

We visited this place while looking for a spot for our loved one, and we thought it looked really nice! They offer many levels of care and could have taken care of her for a long time. There were lots of activities, including music programs we know she would have liked. The only downside is that it's in downtown Arlington, so there isn't much outdoor space to walk around, and parking can be hard.

"4 Stars Overall"

This place is pretty good overall. I'd rate it 4 stars all around. It looks nice, stays clean, and the staff are nice. The food could be better, though, but it's not terrible.

"High-quality community but pricey and not best care for loved one"

I liked the place a lot because it was super clean. There were tons of things to do, lots of activities. But, it's kinda expensive, more than what I want to pay. Also, I don't think they take care of my loved one as well as I'd like them to.

"Not the best location or layout"

We wanted to find a place for my mother-in-law that wasn’t the dementia unit. Unfortunately, this assisted living facility in a busy urban neighborhood didn’t feel right. The building layout was confusing and not ideal for her.

3/5.00 Published 11 years ago

"Disorderly Facility with Missing Items and Female-Oriented Activities"

The service here isn't that great, nor is the food. The staff members seem kind of chaotic and things, especially clothes, mysteriously disappear. The promise of retrieving misplaced items was never met. The overall environment isn't as clean as it should be and most activities are geared towards women.

"Not One Happy Resident, Pushy Staff, Bare Apartments"

No one seemed joyful when I visited, maybe it was just a bad time. But the staff seemed way too excited to get me hooked for my mom. Their studio apartments are pretty cramped and they don't even have a stove or a microwave. The residents have to eat their meals in a common dining area downstairs. My mom actually likes to cook her own meals sometimes. Also, the view was boring - just other buildings.

4/5.00 Published 11 years ago

"Spacious Room and Great Activities for Mom"

The large room I saw was really big. They let residents join activities from the whole complex, not just the Alzheimer unit. They have two groups for discussing the news, which Mom would love. There's a resident who speaks Turkish, so she could practice. She can eat in the Alzheimer unit or with friends from other sections. They also have a car to take people to the local mall, which has walking clubs. This would give her people to walk with regularly.

"Convenient Location, Engaged Residents, But Costly"

This place is in a good spot, only about 10 minutes away. People who live here join in on the activities and seem to enjoy it more. But it might cost a lot, which could be a problem for some.

"Lots of closet space, friendly staff, and trial period offered"

This place has the most closet space we've seen! The staff is super nice and will help you out. They let you try it for a month before deciding if you want to stay. The prices seem okay. But, I worry about the high-rise setup. What if the elevators don't work in an emergency? Can my mom handle all those stairs? There's a nice courtyard out back that they say people use a lot in the summer. And, bonus, there's a parking garage in the back with free parking underground. They give you cable, but not a phone. And they make sure you have a life alert in case something goes wrong.
