We had to shell out tons of cash for just two days of our dear one staying in this place. I absolutely can't endorse Brookdale.

My loved one has experienced both good and not-so-good times at this place. I would still suggest it to others for their family members. The food rating is based on my loved one's thoughts. Overall, it's a good place for care.

"A Caring Community"
The community’s staff is wonderful. Mom loves the food, but Dad finds it horrible. Mom enjoys the activities and socialization.

I'd recommend my friends check it out. I’d suggest they visit different nursing homes to find the best fit for themselves. The ladies I spoke with at this community made me feel comfortable with how they described it.

"Friendly Staff and Cool Rooms at This Assisted Living Facility!"
Wow, the place was nice! The staff were friendly, and the memory unit residents were jamming to music when I got there. The rooms were spacious—even the Jack and Jill units were cool. Plus, pets are allowed as long as the residents can look after them. But who's the boss of that decision?

"Decent Tour, but Found Better Fit Elsewhere"
We visited this place for my friend, and it was okay. The tour was good, and everyone was nice. The workers and our guide were helpful, and they answered my questions. We ended up finding a better place for my friend, but the tour was still good.

The staff are friendly and always there to help. They offer daily activities to keep everyone engaged. The food looks good, and they make sure Mom eats well. The community is clean and the outside areas are nice. I recommend this place.

We really like the care at this place. The staff is kind and pays attention to everything. The food is good, and she enjoys the different choices. It's great knowing the place is clean and well-kept. She also gets to join in activities with the other people living here. We would definitely suggest this place to other families.

"Too Small Beds"
I really liked this place. The workers were super nice and showed us everything. We saw some folks doing fun stuff. The only thing we didn't like was they only had twin beds in the rooms.

"Stepdad is settling in well!"
We have been really happy with this community. They take great care of my stepdad, and he’s enjoying his time here. They offer plenty of activities to keep him busy. The community is always clean and neat, and we liked that it’s a big place. He also enjoys the food.

My mom is doing well here and seems happy. The food has gotten better since we've been here. The staff is wonderful and caring. Many of the activities help the residents stay active. We recommend this community for good value and good care for loved ones.

"Perfect place for Dad"
We chose Brookdale for our dad because it looked clean, had a caring staff, and allowed smoking in a special area outside. Dad didn't want to leave my brother's house after his surgery, but they couldn't take care of him full-time anymore. We're happy to see that Dad has settled in well. He talks excitedly on the phone about the tasty meals and the kind care he gets. The staff has been great and very helpful. We're very happy with our choice.

"Excellent Activity Director, Problematic Food Service & High Staff Turnover."
Good points - The activity director is superb. She's a comforting presence within a facility that regularly changes hands. The residents simply adore her as she is the soul of the home. Bad points - The food situation is problematic. Whenever someone requires a special diet, it doesn't seem like the staff is properly trained in preparing this kind of food. My relative often has to buy her food or rely on others to bring it in. She's become ill several times from consuming food she's not supposed to have due to wrong meal servings. I've taken pictures of some meals and had multiple discussions with varying staff members about this issue, yet it's tough to achieve consistency due to the constant staff changes. The terrible staff turnover rate is also discouraging. It's rare to find staff members who stay long-term. While many excellent employees work here temporarily before departing for different reasons, others have been fired. I've witnessed a few issues such as out-of-date food in the residents' refrigerator, lack of snacks for the residents, unclean laundry room, broken appliances, and at times, I've had to hire somebody to clean my relative's room due to staff shortages. Despite the turnover, the caregivers are mostly kind-hearted but the constant change is emotionally challenging for the residents. In addition to this, there have been several administrative changes which caused a few mistakes, but the accounting team seems to be pleasant.

They do a great job. The place is clean, and the staff is nice. Sometimes the food isn't as good as she likes, but when she makes suggestions, they improve it. She is very happy and feels safe there.

"Great care and patience at Emeritus of Harrisonburg"
Our family has been very happy with Emeritus of Harrisonburg. It's normal for your parent to feel confused and want to go home when making such a big change. The staff at Emeritus were really helpful in these moments. They are kind, patient, and understanding with our mother and all kinds of personalities.
