"Too Many Contacts, but Not a Big Deal for Regular Visitor"

There are too many contact people. We keep getting new names and numbers. Each shift has a different person to contact, and there are different people for nursing, aides, activities, and so on. My nephew is always updating me with a new name. It’s not a big issue for him because he visits several times a week.

"Disappointing Experience at Brookdale Midlothian Assisted Living Facility"

I'm really mad at them right now. They took my sister's stuff out and left some outside the door. When I came back in 20 minutes, an old chair was gone. The new recliner was still there, though. I wouldn't tell my worst enemy to go to Brookdale Midlothian. They didn't clean up stains on the mattress, even though I gave them a waterproof cover and pads. They're terrible and too expensive. When I was there, the health department showed up. Nobody was at the front desk, and they weren't happy.

"Mixed Feelings about Brookdale Midlothian Assisted Living Facility"

I had some issues with moving in. It felt like they didn't spend enough time with us or our family. Sometimes, it was confusing who to call. The folks taking care of those in memory care do seem to genuinely care about them. Overall, I might suggest Brookdale Midlothian to others.

"Poor communication about medical care."

We gave it a 3 because they don't tell us about her doctor visits. Good daily care, but unclear about medical appointments.

My wife is at the facility, and the staff takes good care of her. I'm very happy with how they treat her.

"Mixed Experience at Brookdale Midlothian"

We had a really pleasant tour at Brookdale Midlothian and almost chose this place. However, there was some confusion about the pricing. Initially, we received a quote without factoring in the care costs. Once those were added, it became quite expensive. Additionally, they assessed our loved one as needing more care than other places we considered, which seemed unusual.

"Friendly Staff and Effort Amid Challenges"

Our experience has been great! The dining and activities are limited due to staffing shortages, but the staff is friendly and attentive.

"Mixed experience with understaffing and billing issues at assisted living."

They don't have enough workers. The people are nice, but they made mistakes with my loved one's medicine at first. Once, they weren't ready for us to pick her up in the morning. Overall, it's been a mix of good and bad. The staff are friendly and the place is clean. But you can tell they need more workers. And their way of charging money is confusing. The big company keeps asking for payment even when it's not time yet. And they put things on the bill without telling us. But when I talk to them about problems, they do try to help.

"Lack of Freedom in Assisted Living: Too Many Rules"

This place had too many rules, not much freedom. Coming from a big home, the transition was hard. It felt clinical, not like a nursing home, but still very restrictive. The rooms weren't like apartments, just a room with a bathroom. Lunches were planned, and you couldn't sit where you wanted. Overall, not the right environment for my loved one.

"Mixed Experience at Brookdale Assisted Living: Caution Advised"

The people living there were nice, and our loved one had a good time with them. The meals were good too. But, the staff seemed unaware of the problems with the outside agencies they hired. They also seemed unaware of their own actions. The biggest issue was when they assessed our loved one, they missed important things that made the cost much higher later on. It felt like they tricked us, and other families felt the same way.

"Great facility, but distance and cost are concerns"

I think this is one of the nicest places I've seen. The only issues are the distance and the cost.

"Brookdale’s Team Transforms Care Quality"

My mom has lived at Brookdale for four months now. She started with short-term care, then moved to assisted living, and now she’s in the memory care unit. The Brookdale team managed all these changes quickly and smoothly. They really care about every part of her life and always treat her with kindness. The staff is always ahead of the game, fixing even the little things before they become big issues. They work hard to make sure my mom enjoys each day and stays safe. The food’s gotten a lot better with the new cook, and the activities are just awesome, thanks to the staff. Knowing that the staff checks on my mom often and gets her to join in on fun stuff makes me feel so much better. We’re really pleased with how things are going! P.S. - I didn’t have this good of an experience with my mother-in-law at Brookdale before, but the place has really changed for the better with the new staff.

"Highly Recommended Assisted Living: Exceptional Care and Friendly Staff"

We tried out the respite service here and it was awesome! I didn't have to look anywhere else; I immediately liked the place when I saw it. The staff is really nice and caring, and I knew my mom would be taken care of well. She got to join in activities, which we didn't expect. She said the food was mostly good too. Overall, it was a really great experience. I'd definitely suggest them and go back if we need to.

"Nice Facility, Staff Helpful, More Care Needed, Great Follow-Up"

I liked visiting this place. It's nice with friendly staff. But my mom needed more help than they could give. Still, the staff was really nice and told me a lot. They didn't push me during the tour. They were good at checking up afterward. I think it's a good place to suggest.

"Sunset Hills Assisted Living Shines Bright!"

The people who work at this place are super friendly, and the folks in charge fix problems quickly. They've recently changed management, and the new team is doing a great job. The food is really good, and they have lots of fun things to do. Even my mom has suggested some new activities. Plus, the whole community is spotless.

"Decided Against This Facility After Research"

I thought this place might work for my dad. It was neat and the employees seemed nice. But then, I decided to look it up online for some more opinions. Shocking! A local TV channel had numerous reports about the issues at this facility. The Department of Social Services has a bunch of inspection documents outlining serious issues. After seeing that, I've decided against it. My dad won't be moving here.

"Assisted Living Review: Informative and Considerate Experience"

I met with he. He was quick and thorough. We saw 3 rooms, some redone, some not. He was ready for us even though we came early. He understood we were gathering information and didn't want to waste our time. He was very kind, and he made the visit educational. It seems like these communities are happy to cater to people who are still pretty independent, so there's a smooth transition. For the right person, this is definitely a good place to be.

"Steer Clear of Brookdale Midlothian"

My mom was the patient talked about below. She stayed at Brookdale Midlothian for just 11 weeks. They already knew she could fall a lot when she was admitted. While at Brookdale, my mom fell around 15 times with 5 of them being so bad she needed to go to the emergency room for X-rays, CT scans, stitches, cuts, and more. I have tons of gruesome pictures to prove it. A paramedic told me they make a lot of trips to the ER from Brookdale Midlothian. An ER doctor at the hospital even suggested moving my mom out of Brookdale Midlothian. Before you decide to put your family member here, do some research. Reach out to the Department of Social Services, the Long Term Care Ombudsman, the local hospital (Bon Secours St Francis), and the Chesterfield EMS. Ask them what they think about this place. Don't just believe what they say to sell the place. Think about why they're offering deals and discounts. It's because they can't find enough people to move in. Maybe it has something to do with the bad experiences my mom and others have had.

"Avoid Brookdale Midlothian's Subpar Care"

My mom stayed at Brookdale Midlothian for only 11 weeks. They knew she could easily fall but she still fell about 15 times while there. Out of those falls, 5 were so bad we had to go to the ER. She needed xrays, CT scans, stitches and more. I have lots of horrific pictures. An ambulance driver told me they often take people from Brookdale Midlothian to the ER. An ER doctor even said mom should move out of there. Before you think of putting anyone you love there, ask around. Get in touch with the Department of Social Services, the Long-Term Care Ombudsman, the local hospital (Bon Secours St Francis), and the Chesterfield emergency services. Ask them all about this place. Don't trust what the sales folks will tell you. Think about why they're giving discounts. Is it because they can't fill all the rooms? Maybe it's because of bad care like my mom got.

"Forget this Place: No Proper Care for Your Loved Ones"

This place is the last place I'd recommend. Let's talk about their memory care unit. They clearly don't have enough staff and those they have, work long 13-hour days. I heard this straight from someone when my mom stayed there. The people in the memory care are left all alone for more than 20 minutes (like 10-12 of them in one space). We saw it ourselves. My mom fell three times in just a week. After spending three weeks in a well staffed rehab facility, she hasn't fallen once. People are left sitting in their own filth for hours. One lady's mom fell over all the time and they made her hire round the clock care for her. There's no excuse for that. If you can't staff properly or you're not equipped to handle Alzheimer's/Dementia, don't offer it as a service. The night staff is lazy too. They hang out in the break room watching TV instead of, you know, checking on the people they are supposed to be caring for. They'll talk a big game but they don't deliver. Keep your cash and, more importantly, keep your loved ones away from this place.

"Welcoming Staff and Excellent Care at Brookdale Midlothian"

We moved my sister into Memory Care at Brookdale Midlothian a month ago. My sister and I have only good things to say about the staff! They are so welcoming and friendly, and my sister loves talking with them! We are also very happy with the care she is getting.

"Dismal Experience, Avoid Entrusting Loved Ones to This Facility"

Do not place your family member in this facility. The initial sales pitch seemed promising, but the actual experience was very disappointing. Despite providing feedback and being assured that the issues would be addressed, the situation worsened. It's concerning to see the high staff turnover and low number of residents. With an insufficient workforce, especially of trained personnel, the problems were not fixed, and responsibilities were routinely shuffled away. Flaws start at the top, with the executive director failing to make tangible improvements, despite claiming to be investigating

"A welcoming, friendly environment"

The staff here is super friendly and always willing to help. My loved one is staying for a short-term visit, and the food has been excellent. The activities are changing right now, but the residents are very friendly with each other. The facility is small, making it easy for everyone to get to know each other and the place itself.

"Disappointed: Unmet Promises and Poor Care at Expensive Facility"

After moving our grandmother into this facility, we were disappointed with the quality of care she received and are relocating her merely a month later. The initial tour and what we were told by staff made it seem like a top-rated assisted living location. However, the reality was much different once grandma was a resident. It was promised a nurse or CSA would check in with her every two hours, but it rarely occurred. Grandma often forgets her mealtimes, and while we were assured someone would assist her, we found her sitting alone and forgotten in her room, 45 minutes after lunchtime. They told us we could avail these services provided we paid extra fees, which seem outrageous as we're already shelling out nearly $6,000 a month. We're not receiving the services promised, leading us to secure another living situation. We strongly urge you to consider this facility only if your loved ones are extremely robust.

"Feeling at Home"

Making this decision was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but it turned out to be one of the best. I can feel the love, compassion, and care in this community. I finally felt at ease after the warm welcome my mom got when I brought her to Brookdale Midlothian.

"Great care, activities, and atmosphere at Brookdale Midlothian!"

My family member moved to Brookdale Midlothian. We’re very happy with the room, care, and services, and the friendly atmosphere. There are many activities like weekly lunches, live performances, book readings, games, and exercises. The place is beautiful. The staff is attentive and caring. My family member feels at home here. Thanks, Brookdale!

"Moving mom to Brookdale was a great decision, stress relief"

I was really stressed about moving my mom to assisted living, but after just three months, I’m so relieved. It was a fantastic decision, and I feel like a huge burden has been lifted. Her life is so much better now; she’s more social and engaged than she’s been in the last 20 years. I don’t have to worry about her being alone anymore. She gets her medication on time and is well cared for by the wonderful staff at Brookdale. From management to the entire team, everyone has been responsive, friendly, and very attentive. I’m really glad we chose this place and would recommend it to anyone.

"Resident in Sunny Haven Community"

Wow, this place is gorgeous! It’s so big and bright, with lots of sunlight and different rooms for residents to hang out and do activities. The staff who take care of everyone are super friendly and helpful. I really appreciate how they treat my mom with respect, and she feels safe and cozy when we come back from our outings.

"Brookdale Midlothian: A Welcoming Place for Loved Ones"

My dad's been at Brookdale Midlothian for a year and a half. We checked out other places but kept coming back here. It's in a really nice part of town and close to our friends and family. The staff is super friendly and they've made an effort to get to know everyone. The rooms are big with lots of space, and there are nice outdoor areas with flowers where we like to hang out. Most of the staff have been good about answering questions and taking care of my dad's needs.

Certainly! Here's the rewritten review in 8th-grade level American English: "My mom has been at Clare Bridge memory care for more than a year. I liked how spacious the facility is – there's plenty of room to walk around, two different sitting areas for visitors, and a large enclosed outdoor space. Kendall, the activities director, plans exciting outings. Recently, Mom went to an art museum (VMFA), and I was impressed. The staff has been very helpful and friendly." "Mixed Feelings After 3 Years at Brookdale Assisted Living"

My family member's been at Brookdale Assisted Living for 3 years. It feels cozy, with nice folks around, both staff and residents. There've been some problems with food quality and service in the dining room, but it seems like they're working on fixing them. The management listens and responds when we bring up concerns. Overall, we're satisfied with our time at Brookdale.

"Activities are amazing!"

My mom has been at Brookdale Midlothian for years. I have to say, we are happier than ever…there’s been a recent positive change that has made everything great. I want to give a shoutout to the Activities Director. She’s young, energetic, super fun, and engaging. Most importantly, my mom LOVES her. Mom really enjoyed the trip to see The Peanuts Movie. Thanks.

"Sales Representative Ruins Assisted Living Facility Tour"

We went around this place as we were considering it for a family member who needed care. The facility looked pretty decent on its own, but our encounter with the sales lady was less than satisfactory. She said she would contact us post-tour for the cost, but even after a week, she had not communicated with us. Over the span of a month, I emailed her a couple of times for updates, but she never replied.

"Concerns About Care in Claire Bridge Assisted Living Unit"

Our family member started at the Claire Bridge Memory Care unit about a month ago. Sadly, we've had to constantly monitor the situation to make sure she's getting the proper care. Dropping her off for the first time and the admissions process didn't go smoothly. The staff didn't help us at all. Instead, we had to ask a bunch of questions to work through a process that should have been normal. There seems to be a miscommunication between the sales/management staff and the nurses who are providing hands-on care. Promises are made but the people actually taking care of our loved one aren't delivering. We've had to talk with the staff a lot to solve problems. Follow through seems to be an issue here. Luckily, our family member doesn't need too much medical care yet. But our fear is that if her needs grow, the staff might not be able to meet them. One bright spot is that the activities here have been good for her overall. But, even that was difficult. We had to really push to get the staff to participate. Our loved one is very active. We're working hard to help this place get better in how they handle their residents who still function at a high level.

"Disappointment: Uninformed Visits, Declining Care, and Ignored Concerns"

When we moved my grandma into this assisted living facility five years ago, we couldn't have been more excited. The place was fantastic and we had faith in the workers. Then, we moved in my grandpa two years ago. The team went out of their way to make him feel at home, which was great. But about a year ago, the quality of care began to drop off. They would take them on trips without telling us, so when we came for a visit, they weren't there. One night, we noticed my grandpa's ankle was red and swollen. We were scared he might trip and fall. The night nurse told us to call back the next day to talk to the day nurse- we had to call multiple times. We also had to schedule multiple appointments just for them to get a simple haircut. It's disappointing what's happened to this place, and so we decided to move my grandparents out.

"Cozy, Family-Oriented Assisted Living with Good Food and Flexibility"

My family and I really like this place. There have been some changes in the staff, which was a bit confusing, but they still try hard to help everyone. It would be even better if they had more staff available. They really make it feel like a family here, and they’re super nice and helpful. It’s not a huge place, more like a cozy home, which is nice. The food is tasty, and we even got to eat lunch here during our first visit, which made my loved one feel more comfortable. If there’s something they don’t like to eat, they have other options, and they’re always willing to make special food for people who need it. Overall, we’re pretty happy with them.
