"Memory Care Facility Needs More Activities and Financial Oversight"
The memory care center needs more activities for staying active. Daily walks and stretching exercises could help. It's important to offer exercises like silver sneakers too. They made a mistake with my mom's money, causing trouble with her bank. They don't offer Tylenol for discomfort without a doctor's note, even though we said it's okay.

"Striving Amid Challenges: Vitality Assisted Living Review"
Overall, I’m pretty happy with Vitality. Right now, they don’t have enough staff, and some services have been cut back or stopped. But they’re doing their best with what they’ve got. Dealing with my mother-in-law can be tough, and we’re always reminding them to stick to her care plan. She definitely needs some encouragement to take showers and change her clothes.

"Not Impressed: Small Rooms and Unpleasant Tour"
Our family visited the assisted living facility in person, but we didn't really like the person who gave us the tour or the community. The rooms were just too small.

"Clean facility and good medication management; food has declined"
My mother picked Vitality Living West End Richmond because she loves this area. During her tour, she was impressed with how clean the place was. The food seemed good then, but it's gotten worse since she moved in. There's a lot of staff changes, but that's common everywhere now. She seems happy, and we're very pleased with how they handle medications. I would recommend Vitality to others.

"Good facility overall, but with some care and staffing issues"
Overall, this place is good. The care staff could improve, but they're okay. I was disappointed with the in-house doctor. Dad’s visit was quick and minimal, and the doctor seemed unprofessional. It happened outside with other residents around. There wasn’t a physical exam or much detail—just a few questions and checking vitals. I made an outside appointment for Dad. I also don’t like the charge nurse; I don’t get feedback or answers from her. The food is good, with a daily menu, but sometimes it changes without notice. We were told that doors are locked at a certain time, but sometimes they close early, which Dad dislikes. They seem understaffed, so early door-locking might be why. The activities director works hard to keep residents engaged with enjoyable activities. We sometimes have to remind them about laundry and bedding, and sometimes laundry goes missing. I’d probably recommend this place to friends and family but would tell them about these issues.

"Friendly Staff and Activities, but Call Button Response Can Be Slow"
I would recommend this community to others for their loved ones. The staff and residents are really friendly, which made it feel welcoming both during the tour and while my loved one was there. Sometimes, the response to call button requests can be a bit slow, possibly because of staffing shortages, which is a common issue everywhere. However, they do a good job of making sure all medications are given on time. There's always something fun going on for the residents to join in.

"The community had small apartments, bad smell, and distance from family."
I didn't like the community because the apartments were small. There was a bad smell, and it wasn't very clean. Also, it was too far from our family.

"Keeps promises, offers meals, meets requests"
The community keeps their promises and does anything extra I ask. Residents get three full meals of their choice and two snacks each day. They try to meet residents' requests within reason.

"Great location, safe, and good food."
We chose Brookdale West End Richmond because of its location, the small size (only around 90 rooms), and the people here made us feel comfortable. The room sizes are great and perfect for their needs. I think the food is good. The best part is that they are keeping the residents safe with everything going on. They have managed the pandemic very well. I would recommend this place.

"Great Facility with Huge Rooms and Caring Staff at Brookdale"
We picked Brookdale because it smelled nicer and fit our budget well. The location is great, and the rooms are HUGE. My mother-in-law shares a room with a roommate, and it has two big windows. It was the biggest room we found. The regular dining room looks great, but the memory care section has fewer menu choices. What I love most about this place is the people. They’ve been really helpful with Facetime and porch visits with my mother-in-law. They keep us updated on everything, and you can tell the staff really cares about their residents. I would definitely recommend Brookdale West End Richmond.

"Mixed Feelings at Brookdale Assisted Living"
The staff at Brookdale is amazing and super friendly. They really care about the residents. Most things are great, but there are two issues. First, it’s strange that no doors are ever locked—it gives me the creeps. Second, the food might disappoint you.
