"Unpalatable Conditions and Unskilled Staff at Assisted Living Facility"
I hardly know how to begin... If there are alternative options, I would implore you to not entrust your loved ones to this alleged assisted living facility! It appears that the management lacks any genuine concern for their residents or workers. The food, in general, is downright unappetizing and the living conditions are appalling - an excess of flies, gnats, and roaches is evident. The staff here lack appropriate training and they seem indifferent! A handful of the nurse aides do exhibit some care, but the supervisors tend to drive out or fire the competent ones. They seem to only retain those who are family or friends. I’ve never witnessed a more disheartening scene in all my years! I’m relieved that we managed to move our beloved family member before it was too late!

"Mom enjoyed and smiled, grateful for joyful memories"
My mother spent a lot of time here and passed away peacefully. She enjoyed celebrations and always smiled. Grateful for making her time joyful.

"Needs Improved Communication and Food Variety Overall Positive Experience"
Several times when I called to speak with a manager or someone in charge, they weren't there. I left messages for them to call me back, but didn't hear back, so I had to call again. I understand they have lives outside work, but a return call would've been nice. Also, it's hard to reach my loved one there. Sometimes my calls get cut off or ring a lot without anyone picking up. I know the workers are busy with patients, but after trying for hours, I should've been able to get through. Some of the patients have asked for more variety in food. Older folks are used to garden foods, so it would be nice for them to have fresh garden dinners sometimes.

"Challenges in Reaching Staff and Food Options at Assisted Living"
I've called multiple times to speak with a manager or someone in charge, but they're often not available. Even after leaving messages, I don't hear back, so I have to call again. I understand they have lives outside of work, but it'd be nice to get a call back. It's also hard to reach my loved one; my calls either get cut off or keep ringing with no answer. I know the staff is busy, but after several attempts, I should be able to get through. Many residents, including myself, wish for a variety of foods, especially fresh garden dinners. Older folks enjoy these meals, and it would be a welcome change.

"Avoid Commonwealth Memory Care: Neglectful, Depressing Atmosphere"
My mom stayed at Commonwealth Memory Care in Cedar Bluff, VA for a month. I have some concerns. Firstly, the aides seemed more interested in their phones than the patients. Sometimes, my mom missed meals because she didn't go to the dining room. I had to ask for a tray to be brought to her room, or she wouldn't have eaten. The food was good though, homemade and tasty. Most of the day, my mom was alone with no one to talk to for hours. Aides would pop in every two hours, but that was it. They promised activities every day, but that wasn't true. Patients were often just left sitting in wheelchairs for hours. The whole place felt sad. I moved my mom to a better facility where the staff treat patients well. I wouldn't recommend Commonwealth Memory Care to anyone.

"Consider Other Options Than Commonwealth Memory Care Facility."
My mom stayed for a month at Commonwealth Memory Care in Cedar Bluff, Virginia and I feel let down. The employees were too busy with their phones instead of taking care of the old folks. A couple of times, my mom didn't eat because she wasn't helped to the dining room. I had to ask that they bring her a tray in her room or she would've missed meals. The one positive aspect was that the food was homemade and tasty. My mom was often left alone. The helpers would just briefly peek into her room every couple of hours. Even though they promised daily activities, that wasn't happening. Residents were left sitting in wheelchairs for hours. The whole mood of the place was gloomy. Eventually, I moved my mom to a new place that has proven to be excellent. The staff there respects the seniors and gives them the care they need. I wouldn't recommend putting a loved one in Commonwealth's care.

"Assisted Living Excellence at Commonwealth Assisted Living"
I think Commonwealth Assisted Living does a really good job! The place is clean and well-maintained, unlike some others I've seen. The staff are mostly friendly and professional, though sometimes they need reminders. My parents are happy here, and I appreciate that they can stay together in one room.
