"Balcony Bliss"
It felt just right. My apartment's little balcony is perfect for my outdoor plants, and it's a nice size overall. Making new friends is a big plus! A Place for Mom helped with appointments, and visiting 9 places was interesting.

"Price Concerns"
The assisted living care felt nice, with super friendly staff who went out of their way to assist my dad and me. But ultimately, it boiled down to the cost.

"Loved One Too Far Away"
This review was alright. I wanted my family member to be near me so I could visit easily. But this place wouldn't let that happen.

"Friendly Staff and Good Care with Clean Facilities and Activities"
The staff at Commonwealth are really nice, though sometimes they seem a bit short-handed. Despite that, the staff do a great job. The care services are excellent, and our loved one has actually gotten better since moving in. The place is always clean, with someone around to pick up things. The rooms are spacious, with tall ceilings and lots of storage. The meals look pretty good overall. The assisted living area feels more like a restaurant, while on the memory care side, they bring meals to the residents. This is expected and the meals seem fine. The activities board shows they have lots of interesting things happening. They take little day trips, like a recent outing for ice cream. They also have music concerts, a TV lounge, and various memory care activities and games.

"Facility Shows Signs of Age"
Commonwealth’s location worked well for me, but the facility seemed a bit old. The cabinets and bathrooms needed updating.

"Great Assisted Living Choice!"
We picked Commonwealth because it’s close by, the place is just the right size, and it’s super clean. The staff are really nice, and the price is fair. Their 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment works well for their needs. I’d definitely recommend it to others.

"Nice place with app to track daily activities of loved ones"
This is a nice place in an older building. They have an app that lets you check what your loved one did during the day.

"Good fit with plenty of activities and good care provided"
They have lots of activities for the residents. I’d tell my friends it’s been a good fit for my loved one and me. It has been a relief knowing how much effort it takes to care for them privately. They’re taking good care of my loved one.

"Friendly staff and great location at Commonwealth Senior Living"
We chose Commonwealth Senior Living because it was close to family and reasonably priced. They have three sections: memory care, independent living, and assisted living. My aunt was in independent living and had a good-sized apartment. When she moved to assisted living, it felt like a nice hotel room. My favorite part of the facility is the friendly staff.

"Affordable Assisted Living Near Hospital"
You can have pets here, and the price for a one-bedroom unit is surprisingly low. Plus, it's super close to a hospital!

"Mixed Bag: Bright Units, Dull Atmosphere"
The place was dimly lit, smelled like cleaning supplies, and had ugly decorations. Plus, there was no Activities Director on-site. On the bright side, the studio and one-bedroom units had a nice layout.

"Great caregivers, clean, and healthy meals at this facility"
My relative is always clean and nicely dressed. The caregivers are kind and really good at their jobs. Recently, more activities have been added, which makes the day better. This is one of the best memory care places my relative has been to. The meals and snacks are very healthy!

"Great Option with Room for Improvement"
This place is a lot like where my mom lives now. She would probably like a kitchenette, but they don't have many of those. There's no washer/dryer in the room, which might bother her. They do allow pets, which is a must for us. From what we've heard, the price is pretty good. Overall, we were impressed.

"Pleasant Visit"
Commonwealth Senior Living at Charlottesville was a really nice place we visited. It's big, and the shared areas look modern and new. We decided on a smaller community closer to our home for our loved one.

"Take a Look: A Positive Assisted Living Experience!"
We considered this community as our second option. The folks we met were super friendly. We know residents here who only have positive feedback. The place is tidy, and I've heard good things about the care they provide. Plus, they offer the rehabilitation we were seeking.

"Neglectful Service, Broken Promises at Commonwealth Senior Living"
My Mom was living in the Independent Living Section. This part is supposed to have each resident checked on daily by staff if they don't check themselves in. My mom was left in her room with a hurt collarbone and the staff never looked in on her. I found her four days later and quickly got her to a hospital. The staff apparently didn't notice she never checked in. We fully put our trust in Commonwealth Senior Living to check in on her every day like they said so she could live independently. But they didn't do what they had pledged.

"Exceptional care and support at Commonwealth Senior Living of Charlottesville"
Commonwealth Senior Living of Charlottesville is an excellent place for my elderly parents. The site director, clinical coordinator, head of maintenance, and caregivers are all involved in taking care of their residents. They know everyone by name, understand their family situations, and work hard to help residents and their families adjust to their new home. We are happy with the safe and caring environment where my parents now live. A Place for Mom was amazing—my advisor listened to our needs, found this great facility, and guided me through the whole process. Her help was crucial during this challenging time.

"Mixed Feelings About Weekend Care"
I picked this place because they give my loved one the care they need and it's close to family and friends. The meals are good, and the staff is patient, kind, and attentive. But they don't have enough staff on weekends. When I visit on weekends, there are no clean linens in the bathroom, the trash is still there, the carpet has crumbs from my last visit, and the bathroom hasn't been cleaned. Still, I think the environment is safe and good for recovery.

"Great Staff and Clean, But Not Right For Me"
This place is really neat, with kind folks working there. It's very clean and well-maintained. There are a ton of things to do to stay busy. But, it just wasn't the right place for me, although others might like it.

"Safe, caring staff with great activities and meals!"
Leaving the country, I felt great knowing my mother was safe. They kept me updated and there were no problems. My mom loves the meals they provide. I highly recommend this place—they’re doing a fantastic job. The activities are outstanding and truly the best!

"A Four-Star Assisted Living Review"
They're changing things up, aiming for three care levels. They're adding a full dining service, but there are some bumps. Overall, I'd rate them a four for now.

"Exactly What We Were Looking For!"
I looked at several places for my mom before finding CSL, and it was just right. The place is really nice, the staff is super friendly, and the residents really enjoy living there! I like visiting my mom because I've made friends there too and look forward to seeing them. The facility is still making some updates, so there are a few minor issues, but I’m sure it will all be perfect soon. The Dining Hall, which is like a fancy restaurant, is gorgeous. The food is usually very good, but the waitstaff could use a bit more training. That’s really the only complaint my mom has had, and I’ve noticed it too. The activities, transportation, and wake-up checks give me peace of mind. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind living there myself

"Hopeful, Despite Current Unfulfilled Promises, Care and Support Lacking"
I really want to give a positive review because I believe in the potential of this facility. Sadly, it's currently undergoing a shift that's thrown everything into disarray. The residents aren't receiving what they were guaranteed. The administrative management definitely isn't at its peak. Despite the downside, I can see a future for this place with improvements. However, my personal experience observing the admission process of a family member wasn't a good one. As soon as the lease was signed, there was a distinct lack of continuing care and support.

"Friendly and Fun Place to Live"
I walked in and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We looked around and I thought, “This is where I want to be.” So, this is where I am. It’s been great. I’m really happy here because of the people. From the staff to the residents, everyone has been super friendly, and I couldn’t ask for better friends. The activities are awesome too. They have soup dinners, Bingo, outings, and we go out to dinner. There’s always something to do. You never get bored.

"Friendly Community at CSL Charlottesville"
I used to live in Rutgersville. My daughter was there too, and about seven years ago, she asked, “How would you like to live in Florida?” I said, “If I have to!” Two and a half years later, when she said they were moving back to Rutgersville, I went online and found Commonwealth Senior Living at Charlottesville. I was amazed at how nice it was. I knew it would be nice, and it was lovely. The friendliness is why I love living here. It’s like a small town. Everyone knows each other, and you’re never really alone. Even though you have your own apartment, it’s great to have people to talk to. New residents would be very happy here. We would welcome them with open arms. The community is friendly and easy to get to know. We were all new once, and we know how to take care of new people.

"He was an excellent guide and salesperson."
He, our tour guide, did a great job showing us around. She explained how my SSI income would work here. The property layout was nice, and the unit was well-staged. Terri's strong connection with residents stood out. Overall, I'd rate this place first out of three. Still, I need more info on rent and extra charges. he promised to keep in touch, and I've already received a mailing from her.
