"Promising Community Falls Short for Loved One"
I liked this community a lot, it was my second choice for where I could see my loved one living. But for some reason, my loved one didn't feel the same way.

"Great value, good communication, minor mail issues"
The community is easy to get to, and they call back quickly. They had some problems with our mail, but overall, it's a great place. I would recommend it to others.

"Concerns Raised over Harsh Treatment at Assisted Living Facility"
The folks in charge at this assisted living facility are pretty harsh at times, especially when it comes to showering and cleaning stuff. Sometimes they mostly use baby wipes instead of giving proper wash up with soap and water using a good old washcloth. They just don't bother to use all the personal things family members give for their loved ones living there. They yell at the senior folks when they try to take off their clothes during changing time, or when they’re simply trying to do things on their own. I even heard them shouting when a resident was on the phone with his family. One old lady got scolded when she told the RCA, those are the people who provide care around here, that her bath water was too hot. Instead of adjusting the water temperature, the RCA just said, "She can stand it." Also, there was a time when a senior guy was soaked in cold water while the RCA got a shower ready in a different room. I once heard an RCA ask an old man if he wanted to shower because it was all scheduled. When he wanted to know when he had his last shower, the RCA just said, "You didn't like it when I bathed you last time. Do you want a shower now or not?" The old man replied, "If that's the case, no." The RCA just marked it down as if the guy had refused to shower. They even disturb the older folks in the middle of the night by vacuuming, doing laundry, and even giving late showers—they're supposed to do these things before bedtime, actually. The care they give at night seems quite different from what they show in their persuasive videos or what happens during the day. If you have someone you care about living here and they need help with things like changing clothes, bathing, or eating, you should come by a lot and see how they act when the staff provides their so called "care." The food they offer is no better than what you get in a grade school cafeteria, nothing like the tasty meals made by their so-called chef, like they advertise and charge for. There have been a bunch of complaints filed about this place by various residents.

"Promising Senior Living Concept Falls Short on Amenities"
This place was a cool idea, turning an old motel into a home for older folks. The rooms and activity spaces were divided up well. The dining area was especially nice, and they had helpful spots around for everyone to use. Plus, they had an elevator for each of the three floors. But, they could do better with personal training programs for the seniors.

"Great staff, clean, and good food!"
First of all, I can't thank "A Place for Mom" enough for helping me. Placing a loved one in a new home is very stressful. A Place for Mom guided me through every step. They set up tours in different facilities until we found the right fit for mom. I'd recommend their services to anyone. We finally chose Leigh Hall Assisted Living Facility in Norfolk. From the moment we walked in, we knew it was perfect. The beautiful, clean look caught our eye right away. The new wing, Sweet Memories," is for dementia patients and is decorated to remind residents of happier times. Mom always tells us that the staff is wonderful and the food is good! You should visit this facility!

"Great place overall, but food and cost could improve"
Everything is going well except for the cost. The place is quite clean, and the staff are nice. They are almost done with some renovations, and it should look really good when finished. My loved one hasn't complained about the food, and I haven't tried it myself. However, I did see that a recent survey from residents mentioned food as an issue.
