Dominion Village at Williamsburg

"Dirty and Uncaring: Highly Not Recommended"
The quality is just terrible across the board. I took a tour and the Executive Director made it sound like everything was amazing at this place. But it just didn't match up to what she said. It was rusty, dirty, and the smell was bad! The resident even needed their hooves cleaned. I saw lunch being served without any care - no one even wore gloves! It was really upsetting. I don't suggest this place.

"Family Tour Reveals Staff Friendliness, Maintenance Issues, Barren Apartment"
Our family toured in person. No meal, unsure about food. Staff mostly friendly. Noticed maintenance challenges. Apartment seemed barren, not ideal for our loved one, one room with shared bathroom.

"Mixed feelings about Dominion Village."
We visited Dominion Village, a pleasant facility with two floors. During COVID, frequent in-and-out traffic made us hesitant. The memory care unit lacked appeal.

"Great move for aunt; responsive staff and good food"
Since Covid, I haven’t been able to see inside the building, but the staff are very responsive. My aunt has adapted well to her new living situation. She likes the food, and the staff keeps me updated on any changes. Overall, it was a great move for her.

"Neglect and Missed Communication at Assisted Living Facility"
Steer clear of this place! My mom was sadly neglected here. They didn't take care of her basic needs like changing her clothes or her diapers. They even left her to sit in her wheelchair in a dirty diaper. My mom's hygiene hit an all-time low as they didn't even clean her hair. It was outright terrible, and we weren't the only ones who noticed. Even the hospice staff who came to bathe her were appalled. They ended up reporting what they saw. Things got even worse when we discovered that she had a black eye and we didn't even receive a phone call about it. We found out later that she had fallen, but it took two days of investigative work on our part to uncover all this. We were met with hostility when we raised these issues. On top of this, the facility seemed to have a revolving door policy when it came to their staff - there was constant turnover. The saddest part is that my mom suffers from dementia and couldn't tell us herself about the sorry state of her care.

"Avoid this Home: Unfulfilled Promises and Poor Care"
Steer clear of this place! They promised to take good care of folks with dementia and call in hospice if needed. But their doctor wouldn't let that happen, blocking us at every turn. They were real sneaky with paperwork, only giving us parts at a time. Want to hear the worst thing? We didn't even get or sign the contract till we moved our mom out because they asked us to. Her time there was awful, with serious falls and even a hospital visit for dehydration caused by their "care.

"Affordable, Caring Choice for Elderly Loved Ones"
We looked at a few places for my 91-year-old mom, who has Dementia. We were mostly interested in Memory Care spots. Some places were nice with big rooms and bathrooms. They even offered rides to appointments and helpers if needed. But the costs made us worry if Mom's money would last. Then we found Dominion Village. It's an older place, not fancy like newer spots. The rooms are small, and some bathrooms are shared unless you pay more for private ones. The director said Mom could stay in assisted living because she's social and safe, not needing Memory Care yet. It's cheaper, and she gets to socialize. What matters most for Mom isn't fancy stuff she won't use, like pool tables or big rooms. She needs a clean place with three meals, help dressing, using the bathroom, and getting around. So, Dominion Village it is. We chose a room with a private half bath for a bit more. Mom goes down the hall for showers; they also have walk-in tubs. A twin bed fits well with a comfy chair, tables, and drawers without feeling crowded. The staff is really nice; they all make Mom feel welcome. Since it's small, they get to know everyone and how to help best. I rated the care as good, not great, because no one can care for Mom like I did at home. But the caregivers try their hardest for all the residents.

"Excellent care and great staff at Dominion Village"
My 91-year-old mom has lived at Dominion Village of Williamsburg for a year and a half. She started in Assisted Living and later moved to Memory Care. I’m very pleased with her care. The staff really know the residents, including their habits and needs. They also take time to get to know the families. They are great leaders and always available. My mom got a WWII widow discount, which was very helpful. There are always good meal choices served on time, and the rooms are kept clean. They also have activities suited for the residents' age and condition. I’m very lucky to have found Dominion Village for Mom.

"Considering Dominion for Mom: Small, Personalized, Room for Improvements"
[Removed] was really nice and helped us feel better about thinking about assisted living for my mom. Dominion is small, so it feels cozy. It seems like they can adjust to what patients need. The building and furniture are not new, but [Removed] is trying hard to make them better. The rooms aren’t big, but they work for us. We’d need to change the bathroom for my mom, or she could use a big shower or tub room. It’s not perfect, but it’s okay. Someone stopped us on the porch and said his mom is very happy here. That made us happy too. We’re definitely thinking about this place for my mom.

"Clean, Informative Tour, But Limited Transportation"
This small assisted living and memory care place was clean, and my tour covered everything. All my questions got answered. However, regular transportation seemed lacking compared to other places that specified specific days for doctor visits.

"Quality Care with Room for More Activities"
The staff at the assisted living facility has been really helpful and great. They make sure my loved one has everything needed for a smooth transition. However, I wish they offered more activities to keep my loved one more active. The meals are excellent with healthy options and good portions.
