"Family's Scary Experience With Mom's Care at Assisted Living Facility"
My mom's time at Edgeworth Park at New Town was awful. She stayed there for a month before we planned to move her to North Carolina. We paid for a one-bedroom unit with full assistance. But when we went to get her, they told us she needed to go to the ER because she couldn't control her bladder. We were shocked that they hadn't already taken her to a doctor. What shocked us more was finding out that she had been sleeping on a sofa the whole month because the bed was too high for her to get into on her own. Her legs were filled with sores and terribly swollen, and she couldn't even walk anymore. The caregiver simply said that she hadn't been working for a few days. We rushed our mom to the emergency room right away.

"Subpar Living Facility with Lackluster Care and Absence of Activities"
Visiting this memory care center was quite disappointing. They didn't seem to have any fun things for the residents to do. It looked like there wasn't even a person in charge of organizing activities. The residents just sat around watching TV all day long. In the whole unit, I only saw two CNAs looking after the residents. I noticed several residents who needed help with their meals, but nobody was there to assist them. Long story short, my search for a good nursing home continues. I can't recommend this place to anyone. I left feeling sad and low.

"Inadequate staff and care at facility, moving loved one out."
The care here is really below average. They never have enough employees working. The people in charge don't know enough about safety and laws for older folks. They don't give out medicine on time, or sometimes, they forget entirely. There aren't enough daily activities or trips outside the facility. I really suggest you do your homework and take a surprise visit to this place before you decide to move your loved one here. We're moving my family member to a different place. I don't believe my loved one is secure here anymore. I worry that the shortage of staff will keep making this place super unsafe for the residents.

"Unsafe Living Conditions: Management Suggests Removal of Residents"
This place is not safe for loved ones. Even the head boss says if you think they are not secure, you should move them out. We chose it because someone recommended it before the owners changed.

"Unjust Charges, Poor Service Rampant at Assisted Living Facility"
This assisted living facility unjustly inflates charges within the first 45 days of residency, and threatens to resort to collections if these fees aren't paid. They also increase the price for meals, which are delivered in small styrofoam containers. There's a noticeable lack of staff on hand, and essential medications often run out due to poor re-ordering, an issue that has persistently occurred. The administration employees are exceptionally impolite and confrontational. During the contract signing, they made promises that they didn't keep to cater to the residents' needs. There are tons of problems here! Ironically, the most regular and time-consuming activity they seem to engage in is serving wine to the residents on an almost daily basis. It's pretty weird, their priorities.

"Friendly Staff and Local Vibe"
We chose this community because it was the only place we visited in Williamsburg, and it had a friendly local vibe. I’d definitely recommend it—the staff is attentive and takes time to answer our questions.”

"Disappointing Memory Care at This Assisted Living Facility"
This place looks nice but falls short in providing quality care, especially in the memory care department. Based on past experience with other places, I can tell that this one doesn't meet the mark. Too much time is spent watching television. Staff come and go every couple of weeks without any warning. Lots of the caregivers don't seem to care about personal needs, and can even get rude with families who have questions. There's no one in charge of memory care or any medical professionals on-hand overnight for emergencies. I wouldn't tell anyone to use this place. I'm looking to move my loved one soon as another place has room.

"Neglectful Facility Management Leads to Unfulfilled Care in Assisted Living"
My family member was initially happy living in the assisted living facility. He seemed to enjoy the company of other residents and his independence. Despite a lack of variety in activities, he did appreciate the events they organized like picnics and holiday parties. Unfortunately, things drastically changed when he was transferred to the memory care unit. There were no engaging activities in this department, and residents were just left to sit and stare at each other all day – just biding their days. On top of that, laundry was often neglected. Diet-wise, they provided only one meal option. As a result, many residents, including our family member, ended up losing a significant amount of weight. And though we voiced our concerns, we felt unheard by the new management. Our issues seem to be of little importance to the corporation that now controls the facility. We're desperately waiting for a spot to open somewhere else. Please don't let the appearance of the facility deceive you. Just like rotten apples, it seemingly looks good on the outside.

"Decline in Care Quality at Edgeworth Assisted Living Facility"
My parents stayed at Edgeworth. Over time, care and management declined. Building nice but rest terrible. New director doesn't respond to needs. I don't suggest this place.

"Competent Staff, Cheerful Assistance, Clean Facility; Watchful Post-Ownership Transition"
They have a really nice and helpful staff. My husband gets the help he needs, and they're always cheerful about it. The place is very clean. There's new ownership, but the management hasn't changed, so we'll see how things go.

"Absolutely Beautiful and Friendly!"
I thought Edgeworth Park at New Town was really beautiful. The staff was super friendly, and everything was very clean. It was a great tour, but we found another place that was a bit better for my dad.

"Compare Retirement Homes Carefully!"
This place won't open until January 2017, and there's still a lot we don't know about it. They mention smoke detectors and sprinkler systems as amenities, but those are required by law. The room prices are very high compared to nearby homes. What's their financial future? Will they manage money wisely? Will this place survive or face financial difficulties? If I were a resident now, I'd pay for assisted living I don't need.
