"Limited Space, Disappointing Memory Care at Berryville Senior Living"
My mom stayed at Berryville Senior Living for a bit over a month. We weren't happy with the Memory Care section. There wasn't much room to move around. Just one hallway and a tiny common area.

"Inadequate Care at Senior Facility"
The assisted living place, Commonwealth Senior Living in Berryville, isn’t taking good care of my mom. She ends up wearing the same outfit for many days. Even worse, she’s often left in her undergarments which are not changed often enough, even when they’re soiled. It’s really upsetting and not right to see someone not being cared for properly.

"Disappointing Assisted Living Experience - Unfulfilled Promises and Low-Quality Food"
Oh no, got tricked. The person from Commonwealth, , said there were fun things to do every day and fresh food from local farms, but that's not true. He basically lied to her. She regrets moving there. I feel awful because I helped her pick this place. They didn't do what they said they would. They should be honest about what they offer. It seems like they all do this, because does the same thing. On their website, they claim the food is delicious, but it's actually terrible with really cheap ingredients - tough meat that's hard to cut, pancakes that are like rubber, and so on. It makes me angry how they mistreat elderly people.

"Mixed Experience at Commonwealth Assisted Living"
Commonwealth could be a great place, but there were problems. During my mom's stay, they didn't have enough staff, and the chef quit. The nurse, [name removed], was great, but she was overwhelmed. She had too many tasks to do alone, like hiring caregivers and handling administrative work. She never complained, though. Some other staff members were awesome too, like [name removed] in Marketing, [name removed] in Finance, and [name removed] in activities. Because of the issues, my mom fell three times and didn't feel safe. She lost a lot of weight and had multiple UTIs because she wasn't taken care of properly. Now she's in a different assisted living facility where she's doing much better. She hasn't fallen, doesn't have accidents anymore, and hasn't had any UTIs. She's even gained weight because the food is better. Commonwealth has potential, but they need to take care of their staff better to keep them from leaving.

"Personalized Care in Small Facility with Communication Opportunities"
The staff at this place is really good. Sometimes it's a bit hard to get them to call back or email. Since it's a small place, they know everyone's name. I think it's a great choice and would recommend it. They are all very friendly. The person who handles doctor visits and medical stuff isn't the best at keeping you updated or calling back. But everyone else is pretty awesome!

"Rushed Visit, Less Info: Chose Differently"
I visited Commonwealth Senior Living at Berryville, but it felt hurried. I learned less here than at [community name removed], which is why I picked the other place.

"Friendly, Clean Assisted Living with New Staff"
I’ve been happy with the Commonwealth of Berryville (formerly Greenfield). The staff is friendly and respectful to my family. The place is clean, quiet, and smells good. My only worry is staffing during Covid, but they’ve hired new people.

"Consistent Care and Engagement at Commonwealth Senior Living"
Our mom has been at Commonwealth Senior Living for almost a year, and we're really happy with how well they take care of her every day. The people who work there are really caring, the rooms are always clean, they have activities planned throughout the day to keep the residents busy, and I can check in anytime to see what she's been doing, whether it's day or night.

"Great experience with caring staff and spacious rooms"
We’ve had a positive experience with Commonwealth Senior Living so far. We chose this place because it’s close to home and the price is right. We did a lot of research and visiting other places helped us a lot. When we walked in, it just felt right. The room size surprised us; it’s bigger than we expected. The director here is fantastic, and everyone we meet is friendly and caring. I would definitely recommend this place.

"Irresponsible, Unethical Medication Mishaps at Greenfield"
My mom stayed there for a year during 2016. Her medication was supposed to be provided by them, but they messed up so many times it was scary. At one point, they tried giving her another person's eye drops. We knew this because Mom said it wasn't her eye. Around that time, mom started acting confused, so I sent someone to check on how they were handling her meds. Suddenly, mom wasn't confused anymore! Then after a few months, as her doctor tried to find the right medicine for her, I found out they had never properly written down her medication info. As her symptoms changed, I asked for records of her medication and found out they were just winging it. They once gave me evidence they had given her a drug days before the doctor even suggested it. I had to talk with a "medical director" at their main office in Falls Church for a long time trying to get the correct records, all while my mom's medications kept changing. Her doc even adjusted some medications without knowing Greenfield hadn't started the new ones. Finally, they sent a letter saying my mom had to leave in 30 days. If you're reading this, you know how much money it takes to move in, and how hard it is to find a good place with room. But that's how they operate. Some good people work there, but also some who are dishonest and inept, particularly their upper management.

"Too Expensive!"
This community was really pretty. The folks there were nice and friendly. We had a good time on the tour and saw a lot. Our only issue was that it cost too much.

"Small Community"
My mom is doing great since moving to this community. The staff is friendly and helpful. It’s a small place, but that has both good and bad sides. Everyone knows each other, but there aren’t many activities—only bingo twice a week. The meals are tasty and filling. The facility is clean and well-maintained, and the pricing fits our budget.

"Top-Notch Assisted Living: Clean, Happy Residents, Friendly Staff"
I really liked this place. It was super clean and smelled nice. Everyone living there seemed really happy and well taken care of. The staff was super friendly and seemed to genuinely care about the residents. If we had enough money, I would totally put my mom there without thinking twice.

"Welcoming Assisted Living with Friendly Staff and Clean Facilities"
From the first call to move-in day, they were responsive. Mary was amazing guiding us. When we visited after Grandma settled, it was great. The tour and music activity were fun. Staff was nice, and the place was tidy. Met happy residents. I'd recommend them to others.

" "Friendly Staff, Picked Different Location For Mobility Concerns""
Mary Smoot was really kind and couldn't do enough to help us. We talked about a few choices that fit our budget. But, we decided to go for a break care at a different center until his appointment with a bone surgeon in June comes up. Mr. Bennsky wants to keep living on his own if he can still walk.

"Frustration over Lack of Support in Assisted Living"
Assisted living means getting help. It's not up to the staff to decide if the older folks can do something themselves. They're supposed to be there to give support - and that's what we're paying for. I'm honestly fed up dealing with these people!

"Great Place, Frequent Staff Changes"
Greenfield of Berryville is a top-notch place. We're generally pleased. But, there's a high turnover of helpers, leading to ongoing training that can sometimes be a bit of a hassle.

"Limited Services, Questionable Memory Care - 3.5 Stars"
My family member stayed there for a bit more than a year. She seemed pretty okay there, but they don't offer many things to do or help with. They might decide if they think your family member needs memory care and then move them there. We weren't very happy with the memory care part. They got food, but then it seemed like they were mostly on their own, except they were behind a locked door.

"Looking for new home due to unfair fees and poor meals"
I'm really unhappy and searching for a new place for my mom. The fees they charge just don't seem fair and the food options look like they could be microwaved TV dinners. They served a fish meal with no lemon, tartar sauce, or ketchup, which is just not okay. I also got a bill from a medical company they work with charging for flu shots. I could've gotten those for free, but they convinced me to take their offer for my mom. That cost her $60.00. I think that's unfair.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
We didn't feel comfortable at this place. It's a shame because it would've been convenient. There's a back door always open to a road, and it's not as clean as expected. Price-wise, it's okay, about average for Northern Virginia. People didn't seem unhappy, but we didn't stay long.

"Full Range of Services"
We chose 'Greenfield of Berryville' for Mom because the pricing was just right. The staff is friendly, and they offer a full range of services. As Mom progresses, she won't need to move elsewhere—we can keep her here. The food is pretty good, and Mom enjoys it. Overall, she's as happy as expected. While they do have activities, Mom isn't very involved.
